Funny moment on Colbert tonight. Former Secretary of Labor under Clinton, Robert Reich, says he prefers chocolate bunnies (Obama), over marshmallow chicks (Clinton).

Already the top story on Talking Points Memo http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) I'm even more shocked that the Clintons would use something their campaign was also doing as a way of making the opposing campaign look bad. I'm e-mailing that story to every prominent american news agglomerator or blog I can think of.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) Whoa. That's kind of an important mistake. For once I'll agree with that song... "Blame Canada!"

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) I actually did the math wrong, Clinton gained about 10 delegates overall on Tuesday. Obama won Texas, but you are right, Clinton gained 10 delegates overall on the day. Point is, Obama won Texas. And I'm still seeing all the news articles saying the opposite. Well I've definitely seen some articles saying that the caucus results changed some of the momentum. But the media needs some actual numbers showing that Obama won Texas overall. I'm not sure that's available yet.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) Interesting. So for what counts for the process, Obama wins Texas. If he picks up more ground in WY and MS, that makes for a pretty big gap. Still though, I think PA is HUGE. But North Carolina is also very large, and also very much Obama territory. I think Obama should also come out and say he thinks that the people of Florida and Michigan deserve to be counted in a fair way, and let his people fight for the most beneficial process for him.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) LMFAO!!!!! Reading this thread from beginning to end knowing what the results were was just f***ing hilarious. The Bike Obama supporters were so (did I say Bike? Fruedian slip.) f***ing cocky waiting for the big cities in Texas to report, and what happened? A wave of votes for Billary came in and she won by damn near 100K votes. Then the Obamaites started grasping at any straw they could so they could still feel good about things. Spin city here! And you guys talk about Fox News. LOL ... Billary is gonna get the nomination. She'll probably pick Obama as VP but it won't be enough. Too many Obama people will just be disgusted at the net result and just not vote in the general. Gotta love this. It's just too good. Alright there bud. It's called optimism. I guess you hadn't picked up on the whole theme of the Obama campaign yet huh? I don't know if I'm cocky, stupid, arrogant, optimistic, funny, smart, realistic or desperate in saying this (take your pick Yasny). But I've heard that the next two primaries favor Obama in Wyoming and Mississippi. Anyone have any polls, or reasons for this? Anyways, I think the reports about Obama's Texas caucus results will help dampen the big Clinton victories, and if he can manage wins in Wyoming and Mississippi, he'll get back in the groove. Of course he's got to avoid controversy and hope Clinton courts it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) So, what the heck happened to all those votes that were supposed to come in from the big cities in Texas? I really hope the 50 superdelegate rumor for Obama is true, as it would be nice to see something positive happen. The SNL curse continues to grow. I think it will still narrow up a little but there was still too many little areas, Hillary dominant, that hadn't fully come in yet. I doubt the 50 delegate thing is true. Difficult to hold all 50 delegates together. I could see them trying to announce them all at once and then 4 or 5 of them saying they are not for Obama, and that story would outweigh the positive.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) Yikes. Yah I think the Texas primary is over. But Obama's going to win the caucus so all is not lost.
-
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) Interesting to note that Dallas County is 54% in with Obama 52,242. If that projects out... Obama COULD close that gap. Houston's the big one, but Clinton also has Webb County and a bundle of other small ones where's she's got a huge lead.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 09:54 PM) Today started off as a good day with Favre retiring and the Stone news, but now with HF and OPRF losing, and HRC winning Ohio....a Texas win for her will make for a long night. Yah, I'm holding out for Texas.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) Clinton's going to take Texas AND Ohio. It's the SNL effect. I'm not kidding either, and neither is the MSM. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080304/ap_en_tv/obama_media Notice this has hit the AP now. Hillary is making a big comeback, folks, just like New Hampshire, just like when she was the "underdog" before. She's not out of this yet. Obama should win Texas. Harris County (Houston) is still at 0% reporting, Dallas is at 4%, and Travis County (Austin) is at 0%.

QUOTE(AngelasDaddy0427 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) Her active courting of the white nationalist vote through the Obama's a muslim lie. I'm no Hillary Clinton backer but as far as I know there's no real evidence that the Clinton campaign purposely pushed the Obama is a muslim stuff.
-
QUOTE(AngelasDaddy0427 @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) All I know is that Obama might of had a slight chance before he had his campaign contact Canada. Now that it's a proven fact he'll be lucky if he only loses both by 20 points. When it comes to international relations I'd dare to say that little is proven fact. I'd also say that debate about international agreements in a purely political setting would be 90% bulls*** anyways. All the same, this isn't good for Obama, but I'll hope it won't affect the results tommorow. The opposition in Canada is still attacking the Conservative Government for leaking details about these discussions, and I don't think that will stop soon. Canadians overwhelmingly favor the Democrats and to be seen as harming one of their chances surreptitiously is not a popular move.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) If Obama wouldn't make it a damn point just to make it a point, it wouldn't be a point at all. Think about it. He didn't make a f***in' point about it.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) ok look... I won't say that Obama is un-patriotic because of this. But, people have DIED fighting for what that flag symbolizes. I mean hell, if the flag as a symbol is that worthless, let's stop giving them out after veterans of our country die. If it's that worthless, then let's stop flying the damn thing. If it's that worthless, let's stop the pledge of allegiance. If it's that worthless... Obama has now made it a point. And that is what is bulls*** to me. Argh, you made me actually have to go and look up what Obama said... All I can find is that he said it seems like a "substitute for true patriotism."

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) I also wonder what the trade ratio is with Canada. i tend to think the REAL problem is Mexico, but no one is going to say that so thy dont piss off the Latinos. I don't really know, but I believe the general impression among decision making elites, and the Liberal and Conservative Parties is that Free Trade is good for Canada. I also believe we get more out of trading with the U.S., than you guys do with Canada.

Well perhaps also good news was that Muqtada al-Sadr renewed his ceasefire for 6 months last saturday. I've heard that this ceasefire was also credited as one of the main reasons that violence is down.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) I find that completely illogical. On a personality level, you find a candidate distasteful, but if her platform and views are so much more in line with those of the person you are supporting, how can you just shrug and be ok with someone with a radically different ideology winning in November? In the various conservative circles, you can bet there's a lot of talk about holding your nose and pulling the handle for McCain even if he's not an ideal candidate in a lot of people's minds. The Democrats and liberal-leaning independents need to be able to do the same thing if it comes to it. I understand that thought but it may be hard for many people who have grown very fond of Obama to accept Clinton who in the past couple days has compared him to both Karl Rove and George W. Bush. On this same note if this race continues much longer I wouldn't be surprised to hear Obama talking about how he's the best guy to unite the party.

Wisconsin exit poll http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) Are you referring to the Fox News polling or the exit polling data? Because they're 2 totally different things. Not even done by the same people, I think. If you want to know how accurate those exit polls are, watch right around 8:00 CT. Because if Obama actually scored a win among women, they may well call this thing as soon as the polls close. My impression was that their exit polls had favored Obama, but I don't really have a clue.
