  1. If Obama holds at 8 points back it's kind of a status quo night I guess. Not close enough for Obama to run around claiming he exceeded expectations but he's still got a huge delegate lead, and while Clinton is way behind in delegates this was a good victory for her, but not a surprisingly good one.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) What's the point of saying it's too close to call at 8:15 but then calling it when 1% of the votes are in? I guess the computers don't think it was THAT close.
  3. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) CNN reported that 60% of new Dem voters went for Obama. That cheater. MSNBC isn't really a news channel IMO. 10% of voters in the Dem primary were actually Republicans there to mess stuff up? yeaaaaa riiiiiight Kind of agree with genius here, doubt that screwball Republicans are really having much of an effect.

  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) How is this not news across the country? Clinton on Iran Attack: 'Obliterate Them' Well maybe the wording is poor but Iran must know that it's own survival is at risk if it threatens that of another.
  6. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) Ok, I'll add a little substance to my observation. Late in the week, he really came across as someone who was crying about his "tough treatment" and his comebacks of Hillary liked getting in the digs (paraphrase but it was exactly the point). Any time a politician plays "victim", they're screwed, and Obama definitely came across as crying and whining about the debate. Now, the polls show it. I haven't been much more than a casual observer in the past week or so but I haven't noticed this line of thought in the media at all.
  7. The polls are officially showing... nothing.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) So, if this isn't a sign that the official party is pretty unhappy about last night...I don't know what is. I would take that as a pretty clear "This can't go on any longer after last night" message, wouldn't you? Meh, I don't see how that debate really hurts the Democrats chances. Dean just wants this thing over and the more superdelegates declare the more obvious this thing becomes.
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) They all pander, they all sway for what lobbyist they need. SS, you saw where I came from. I don't think it was quite the same as you, but it was pretty similar. There ARE people "bitter" with the political process. Hell, I'm one of them. I'm bitter as hell. But, I also think that Obama said it the way he meant it originally, and that is that these people (as Hillary said) "cling" to beliefs that end up creating more of the same for the politicians we keep sending to Washington. Obama did NOT say that originally, but his spin of the subject is now how he's coming across. Again, when you combine it with the company he has kept over the last 20+ years of his life and watch his "rise to power" I don't think Obama gives a damn about my plight more then any other person around here. He's saying what he needs to say to be elected, and that is more my point then anything. I refuse to believe that any of the 3 remaining candidates, Hillary included, put themselves through so much grief simply to serve their own aims and ambitions.
  10. China's number one priority is national unity, ie keeping Taiwan, Tibet, East Turkestan and whoever else may want to separate under Chinese control. It's been that way for quite a long time now, and it's not like it's just came up since they were selected to hold the Games. I believe Chinese reunification is a prominent ethos in the Chinese political culture, and people might want to check out the 2002 movie Hero to see that. I'm not sure what protest is going to do exactly, and I certainly don't support nimrods running and grabbing the flame from innocent young athletes. Protesting the opening ceremonies for some politicians may be a decent option, but frankly, unless you're going to go all the way and really boycott now, and forever, a policy of engagement seems superior. Hmmm, like Russia? Who has an Olympics in 2014? Whose behavior is appropriate enough?
  11. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) What more can you say about these White Sox, except at least theyre not from Canada. What the deuce?
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 01:23 AM) Well, I knew it had to happen eventually. Because I question the character of black man that is a 20 year member of a church whose pastor is on record with hateful and racial opinion, and because that raises a red flag with me when the said black man is running for highest office in the land, then marks me as a racist. Well you people just go ahead and vote your ignorance. I get criticized for linking to and quoting one, mind you "1" column that offers an opinion that you disagree with and you dismiss it as irrelevent and meaningless, yet Athomeboy, whatever his handle is, has for months been posting leftist rhetoric links and not a peep. You know what, I'm just gonna say this ... to hell with you all. You don't want discourse and discussion. You want .... screw it .... it's not worth it. Enjoy the campaign people. I'll stay out of the 'Buster till it's over. Forgive me for not having read all 32 pages of discourse and discussion but I don't see anyone calling you a racist? To me this just appears to be a long winded way of saying you can't win this argument.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) How about Wright and Obama just go away? We don't need their type. Especially in the White House. He should have been taken to task on this issue instead of getting the free pass he has received from the media and his supporters. You are all being conned. Vast left wing conspiracy to make Obama seem like a decent guy!
  14. I'm not really a fan of Stone, but Brolin's great so I'm going to have to see this. I don't think the film is supposed to be about his presidency, so much as it is about his rise to the presidency. Dubya can be a pretty endearing character so it might be pretty interesting.
  15. W/O looking I bet Cheney is the big donor, and Obama is the chincy donor. EDIT: Yup, but I had already heard about the Obama thing today, and remember the stories about Cheney from the past.
  16. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) Well again you bring so much to the discussion. Since you cant find it in a google search. Why not ask another supporter if its true..? You're the one asserting that. Give me a source.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) Not sure of what to make of this vague conversation involving Harry Reid: While I don't rule out for a second Obama winning this thing on his own, Reid might be talking about a superdelegate convention. Where the superdelegates vote before the convention, so the winner is known in advance.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) no one has yet to explain to me why this outlandish story about Sinclair and Obama has been buried, but an even more outlandish story about McCain and a "platonic" relationship with a lobbyist was front page news. There is no question that both of these stories should have been buried, but if McCain's was front page, why wasn't this Sinclair crap front page? Because I could sign up for youtube tommorow and say that Obama nailed me. And I'm not going to defend the Times article against McCain, other than to say acutal politicos apparently close to McCain blabbed to the media about being uncomfortable with McCain's closeness to a lobbyist.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) He was also named godfather to those children. Another fact. I don't think that's actually a fact. At least I couldn't find anything in a basic google search. I refuse to believe that if Michelle or Barack were to come up to me to shake my hand, they'd think less or more of me because of my skin color.
  20. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) Who are you to think that your opinion means more than anyone elses. I think I'm right and you're wrong and until you're able to explain why Michelle Obama is a racist that's what I'll think. I might let you get away with calling Michelle naive, hypocritical, or bitter but sometimes, whether it's an opinion or not, it's wrong and I can't help but point it out.
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) I have no faith in the general public to catch onto anything ever. Gallup says about 20% less Americans think Clinton is as honest and trustworthy as Obama and McCain. http://www.gallup.com/poll/105097/Perceive...ama-McCain.aspx
  22. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) Since its apparent that nobody will acknowledge the possibility of AA unless it is written in finite I will state why I think she is racist contingent on this being true, which I strongly believe it is. IMO, AA is a form of racism in its own degree and if it is used then it doesnt only affect the beneficiary. That would mean someone more qualified was turned down because of the color of their skin and missed out on going to Princeton. Then she writes about having a chip on her shoulder and that people treated her differently because of the color of her skin and she is making it sound like she is some kind of victim of racism even though the ONLY victim of racism in that case is the student that got denied entry to the university. So in this country that she has never been proud of until recently gave her an advantage with her education and instead of being grateful she acts like she was entitled to something. I also hold her to the same criticism I do Barrack in terms of choosing their church and continuing to support such an open racist. I think you'd be better of reserving the term racist for those who really deserve it. Race itself is a social construct and doesn't really mean anything. I highly doubt that either of the Obamas think that people of this or that race have inherent qualities from birth that make them lesser, or better.
  23. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Are you seriously gonna try to twist what I said like that? "theyre all racists?" Give me a break. I said his wife is racist, his Pastor is racist and when he calls someone a typical white person he shows a glimpse of him being racist. Were not talking about a talk show host or an activist. This is a candidate to be the president of the country I live in and all of a sudden my concerns with things that the candidate said regarding race Im "concluding" something? Since Ive drawn some sort of inaccurate conclusion according to you, do you not think his pastor is racist? Were his comments about his grandmother being a "typical white person" not inappropriate and uncalled for? Also, since all of a sudden Im making up the fact that his wife got into college because of affirmative action, lets say for arguments sake she did, then you dont have a problem with her comments about being proud of her country for the first time? I just think you should be careful tossing around the word racist.
