  1. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 11:41 PM) he is in AAA They're retarded then.
  2. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) you can thank JJ putz. F%$# the Ms manager for not putting in Brandon Morrow.
  3. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 11:03 PM) do we use Thornton again?? He'll still be in.
  4. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) Do we have anyone left in the bullpen? Russell
  5. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) ugh Ahhhh! Don't scare me with posts like that.
  6. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) no runs for twins I love me some Dickey.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) Why does OC always steal with 2 strikes? It does nothing but distract the hitter. Well it worked... With 2 strikes you'll often see less fastballs, more stuff in the dirt, tougher for the catcher to handle.
  8. To an extent polls at this point don't indicate much of anything. I actually believe that the biggest factor polls have at this time is in driving the media narrative. At first when the polls may have been narrowing the media may have talked more about the attack ads and why they're working, but now that Obama seems to be bouncing back the story is probably again going to shift to whatever problems McCain may be having at the time. One thing I would note is that Obama for the last week or two was having some struggles on the energy issue, the race card, and the attack ads, and his polls dipped down only into a tie. But the polls never went much lower than that. Every candidate has their times in the peaks and in the valleys, and if that's as deep a valley Obama dips to (a tie), then McCain's got problems. IMO
  9. Longest Yahoo inning summary I've ever seen.
  10. Just my 2 cents: I wouldn't rule out Hillary Clinton just yet, and unless I'm not seeing some angle I doubt Nancy Pelosi is pushing Chet Edwards just to be nice. I still like Bill Richardson, and this Tim Kaine guy seems good in the little I've seen of him. Don't really know the other contenders enough to say, and I still think Obama should choose who he thinks could best be President right now, besides himself.
  11. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) Another horror film in the making. The shame in this is that most of the slashers people watch from Hollywood aren't truly fiction. Leatherman, for instance, was a real person. Some sick, twisted people out there. Leatherman? You probably mean Leatherface, and that was not a real person. Although Ed Gein was pretty messed up, and there have been others like Tsutomu Miyazaki.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) Saying we're not going to make the playoffs is perfectly reasonable, I'll say it right now: We're not going to make the playoffs. The thing is, to say "it's over, we're done" is WAY different, and to say that about a team tied in the loss column with the team in first is just not accurate. And Clayton Richard will never pitch again for us because he really, really sucks. Also, nicely done by A.J. to get to Olivo. I like the fact that a pitcher came in and threw at the Royals hitter though. Maybe this will wake us up, although I doubt it becaues our problem is bad pitching and defense, not really corpseball. Olivo was a little pussy with that mound charge though, go get him if you want to. You're writing of Richard unbelievably quick.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) You won't, not even an issue you should worry about. As for the people who say we're done, why? Yes we are playing badly and yes Minnesota is the favorite, but we're tied with them in the loss column after today even with the day off. The way we are playing says we're out of it, the odds say we're out of it, our eyes tell us we're out of it, but the standings don't, and until they do, you can't just say season over. The problem is, if we continue to pitch and defend like this, the standings will eventually also say we're out of it. So you can say without hesitation that Richard will never pitch again for the Sox, but saying we're not going to make the playoffs is unreasonable?
  14. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) You have to wonder what kind of pitch count Liriano is going to be on. I was reading somewhere that Liriano was allowed to go back to his original arm slot to get the movement he used to have on his slider. If thats the case, his elbow is going to give again He's not on any kind of pitch count.
  15. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) he's shown to be a 2-time through the lineup pitcher, 3rd time he gets lit up, just like what happened to danks last year hopefully ozzie pulls him before that happens, let the kid leave with some confidence I figure Richard deserves more than 2 starts to be defined.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) Your estimate might turn out to be too low. What happened to this staff? It's not so simple as Contreras and Linebrink being out. We were leading the AL in staff ERA about 3-4 weeks ago, and our defense was at least adequate. Oh, by the way, former Sox pitcher MATT GINTER is starting against Liriano tonight in Minnesota. That sure inspires confidence. That's Sunday's game. It's Byrd vs. Slowey tonight.
  17. Why the hell did we just intentionally walk someone down 5 runs?
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) No, because this was a story about 1 man f***ing up, almost literally. Not the Democratic party, not politicians, but just John 'Two Americas" Edwards. No need to mention McCain, Newt or Obama. Now if it was a news story about how all politicians are twofaced, then go ahead. Dude it was one article on a left of center blog. Relax.
  19. I've been here and there in the game threads this year. I sometimes drift away but always come crawling back. When the game's not on tv and most of the it's time not, soxtalk is a good alternative.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) Wassermann for one batter, and then Thornton for their lefties? Might as well leave in DJ if its for only one batter.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Probably because he looked horrible last inning. Meh, if we've got no confidence in Vazquez we might as well give up our playoff run now.
  22. I'm just trying to figure out why Vazquez was taken out after only 98 pitches...
  23. This hit a little too close to home.
