  2. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) I'd say this team is VERY conventional in terms of its construction: lead-off man, a good #2 hitter, some sluggers, good defensive infielders, outfielders that can cover a lot of ground, 5 good starting pitchers, and a good bull-pen. Sounds like a recipe for success to me! We got the recipe...we know whats for dessert...lets start cooking the meal!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Hey all, sorry this is probably the wrong place to post this....but my firefox browser is no longer working anywhere on soxtalk.com and I'm not sure if it's a problem on this end. It's working everywhere else, just not on soxtalk. It brings up a pop-up window and prompts me to open "soxtalk" by choosing an application. I've checked this with a couple of other users and they've got the same problem. I think there is just some board issues. I use IE and got that same message about an hour ago. All seems fine now though
  4. QUOTE(Paco @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Hey, We have 3 people going to the Sox game tonight.....Since it's Pepsi 2-for-1, is that essentially half price? Or do we have to claim an even number of tickets per Pepsi can? Paco you are avergaing a little over 1 post a year and you waste it on fuzzy math. At least gimmie a sox rule or something!!
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Chavez-would win us the division and the WS Well first I find it highly unlikely and second there are no guarantees.
  6. Chumbawamba. Please hand me my trophy!!
  7. I think we can do it with these guys. I think come playoff time...we go with our best guys and we can get it done. Out of our 21 losses only 6 have come with our regular starting lineup. In those 6 games are 1)Shingo's blow up. 2)Loss after winning 8 in a row. 3)Facing Prior. 4)Santana 5 hit SO. 5) JG blow up 7ER. 6) Buehrle Gem, Hermy first blown save. Yeah we lose sometimes with our regular lineup in there, but even some of them have been flukes or just hitting some pitchers that were dead on. I think with our regular lineup and going with the hot hand at DH be it Carl or Frank or alternating them...we will be just fine. I have the utmost confidence in these guys...and they have confidence in each other. I dont see too many trades out there worth screwing that up. 8. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) That is a name I have not heard in a long time. I don't know if he ever posted here, but at the old mlb.com White Sox forums, there was a poster named Ncorgbl who claimed to be a partial owner of the team. He always defended Thomas and Valentin, no matter what they did, and seemed to have a grudge against a lot of guys, especially Bartolo Colon and Tony Graffanino. Yeah I don't know much about what happened with him or who he really was...but I couldn't stand him or his fat tub o goo threads....we butted heads many times
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Ooo.. the language. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :rolly so that's what does it for ya eh??

  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) It was "he's gone" at the start of last year. Well hell then my friend's mind is more f***ed up then mine. At least I knew it was once 'he's' albeit way off on the timeframe. Those 90's partyin days are starting to catch up!!
  14. That site sucks... anyway quick question about Hawk...Didn't "he gone" come from "he's gone". I could have sworn he always used to say he's gone and then he gone came like 3-4 years ago. My friend says it was always he gone and I say it wasn't!!! Settle this madness please!! This argument is tearing us apart. Each day is a little harder to bear...I feel like a lost little boy Ok I got a little melodramatic there, but hopefully someone here remembers.
  15. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) I think El Duque fell twice on the basepaths. I swear he fell rounding 2nd as well as third, and he almost bit the dust coming around 1st too. Definitely a comical basepath session for Duque he did do a nice job of tagging the bag on that one play. Hawk thought he missed it, but he had the nice drag step going.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Eh.. you only just passed 1k posts.. I don't bother with ya until you have at least 2k.. That's probably why I've been safe. On another note I just realized I was past 1000. Congrats to me!!!! I think
  17. Snopes Claim: Actor Denzel Washington made a large donation to the Fisher House Foundation after visiting Brooke Army Medical Center. Status: Multiple Denzel Washington visited Brooke Army Medical Center and made a substantial donation to the Fisher House Foundation: True. Denzel Washington whipped out his checkbook and "wrote a check out for the full amount (for a new Fisher House) right there on the spot": False. Origins: In mid-December 2004, Denzel Washington — reportedly at the suggestion of a veteran known as "Ranger Jones" whom the actor met while filming the 1988 Civil War epic Glory — paid a visit to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. The popular actor took part in a Purple Heart ceremony, presenting medals to three Army soldiers who were recovering in the hospital from wounds received in Iraq. The city's Express-News newspaper described one of the medal recipients' reaction to her encounter with the screen star: When Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington entered the auditorium at Brooke Army Medical Center, Spc. Connie Spinks, healing from wounds from Iraq, was content to hold his hand, get a gentle peck on the cheek and hear him whisper a sweet nothing in her ear. "He just told me he was proud of me, and that was enough," said Spinks, who has a broken femur, fractured fibula, shattered ankle, two broken fingers and second- and third-degree burns on her hands and face. That brief encounter was enough to lift the Asheboro, N.C., native, a world away from her memories of Oct. 13, when a suicide bomber killed two soldiers and injured Spinks, 22, and four others in a convoy. "If I wasn't already in a wheelchair, I would have fainted" when the screen star kissed her, she said. Oh, but there was one more thing she needed. She waved her mother, Annette, up for a hug and kiss from the leading man, who has portrayed young military heroes in "Glory" and "Crimson Tide." "I had to do that for my mother," said Spinks, who will be treated at the hospital at least through March. "She's been here for me since October." Fort Sam Houston, which houses the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), also includes on its property a Fisher House within walking distance of the medical center. Fisher Houses are a network of "comfort homes," essentially low-cost hotels built on the grounds of military medical centers in the U.S. and abroad that provide all the amenities of home and enable family members of servicemen to stay close to loved ones who are undergoing medical treatment for illness, disease, or injury. The modest fees charged by Fisher Houses (about $10 per night) make them accessible even to familes with tight budgets (a situation common to many military families). As might be expected with the U.S. military's having been engaged in combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq for the last few years, the demand for space in Fisher Houses at some military facilities has exceeded their capacities. According to the Fisher House Foundation, when Denzel Washington was at Fort Sam Houston in December 2004, he did visit its Fisher House and learn of their need for additional facilities, and he did later make a substantial donation to the Fisher House Foundation (amount undisclosed, but it was described as "one of the most significant received in our history" by James Weiskopf, the foundation's vice president for communications), but he did not, as described above, "get out his checkbook" on the spot and write a check for the full amount needed to construct a new building. Due to the generosity of the American public (including Mr. Washington), the Fisher House Foundation has already collected enough money to build another house, although it will not necessarily be constructed at the Brooke Army Medical Center. Other possible sites for a new Fisher House include the Michael E. DeBakey Medical Center in Houston, the Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, the Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington, the VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, California, and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. One version of the Denzel Washington e-mail in circulation concludes, "By the way . . . He has a son who is a Marine in Iraq." Although Denzel Washington does have two sons (and also two daughters), neither of his sons is a Marine or is stationed in Iraq. One son is far too young to be serving in the military (he's only thirteen years old), and Denzel's older son, 21-year-old John David Washington, is currently a student and football star at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
  18. I don't post half the posts I start...usually when Im reading it over...I'll just say screw it....it ain't worth it. It's like typing it all out gets my feelings off my chest...and then even if I don't post it...it doesn't really matter. Anyway The one thing I see a prob with and it goes from regulars to newbies....People attack other peoples posts. I think some people here are kids and that's where we get a lot of the ignorant posts....s*** I can just imagine the dumb things I would have said 15 years ago if I was on a message board talking about the sox. Are you kidding me, from 14-19...I knew everything about anytyhing and I didn't back down from anybody. I encourage all to take it easy...if someone post something dumb...ignore it and it will be on the 2nd page in a matter of minutes..... Swearing I don't mind and I hope it never gets banned or I'd be in trouble. Swearing at someone is a whole different story....you want to bring that to the table then PM the person and handle it one on one. Heck maybe you two can meet face to face and handle it with a thumbwrestling match.
