  1. Can we use minimum security prisoners to do some of these jobs? Is that an option?
  2. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 08:54 AM) I read this and immediately thought of that Newlywed Game episode. Well then you my friend need a few more sexual exploits!!
  3. QUOTE(juddling @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:11 AM) Catherine Zeta-Jones admitted to her desire to appear nude in a movie and has been looking for the right film for her naked debut. According to M&C, Catherine said, “Nudity just isn’t a big deal for me. The reason I haven’t done it so far is because I’ve never had a script that justices it come my way.” Man....it's about time too. That old wrinkled prune, Michael Douglas, shouldn't be able to keep that body all to himself. Greedy bastard....lol (I'm trying to bring Sexyback....lol ) Now that's what I'm talking bout!!!
  4. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) I remember Hawk getting a question in the booth a few years ago about ducksnort's origin. Hawk said when he played they called it a 'duck...passing gas' as only Hawk could say because you couldn't say fart on the air. Apparently they told him it's ok and he is going with it. Ducksnort sounded better. My wife actually heard him say it and she was like did he just say duck fart?? I'm like no...he says duck snort and she is like no I think he just said duck fart and I'm like no he didn't, I been listening to him for years and he says DUCK SNORT. and she says i don't care how long you been listening to him he JUST SAID DUCK FART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm like YOU'RE f***IN WACKED WOMAN!!! and she said YOU'RE an ASSHOLE MAN and I said yeah but at least I'm not a deaf asshole...and she said yeah you are...and I said no I ain't. YADA YADA YADA....next thing ya know somebody pops up and hawk says duck fart. UGGGHHH I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. and here goes Big Jon. It is insane by ridiculous proportions how we give up runs as soon as we score em. OMG...I started this post when Jon let the first three guys on in the Bot of the 3rd and gave up 1 run, I then had to leave my desk and I never finished the post. Now I get back and they f***in tied it up .....OMG HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 01:05 PM) Lets be honest, the outcomes of these games just really don't matter anymore. It is an absolute JOKE that we're forced to watch completely useless AAAA pieces of s*** like Darin Erstad, Scott Podsednik and Alex Cintron. I truly hate the way this team is run. I agree, but those guys are going play 10-15% of the remaining games. Ozzie isn't just going to let them sit on the bench for the next 55 games. So as long as they only get in once in a while. I'm ok with it. Hopefully this is just the "once in a while" days
  11. 8 runs. No homers?? Who are these guys? EDIT: Ah, Thanks Uribe...I didn't recognize you guys.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) I already disliked Sanders. Now this statement. Rarely have I wanted so badly for awful things to happen to two people. Just imagine how Sanders would be if Jesus didn't come and visit him.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Maybe I'm just not amused by cartoon penises. I'm weird like that. got some cartoon boobies for ya right here
  14. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) How about bringing back the hot chick contest? I know its been heard over and over but would fill the "SEX" spot in SLAM. I don't know, I been really having fun with this drawing thing...... ok ok ok...So I cheated on that last one.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 12:09 PM) I think even I'm going to have to throw my hat into the disappointment group on this one here, because even though I've been one of the guys arguing that KW has done better than we think, and that we should still hold out hope on guys like AArdsma, Floyd, and even Anderson, but even I have to admit, I'm dumbfounded by the seeming lack of direction of this team. Here's how I see it: coming into 06, we're looking to stay competitive for several years. We add Thome to fix the biggest hole on the 05 team, and we bring up our top prospect to try to start adding some youth to the team, the usual Braves formula. The pitching staff unexpectedly implodes top to bottom. Ok, we take some more "Win now" type steps to fix that midseason, like adding MMac and Thornton. Turns out to not be enough, but we still win 90. Coming into 07, we still have the look of a team trying to "Win now", but then KW does some odd deals. KW spins off Garcia for 2 pitchers who aren't likely to help the Sox that year. KW then spins off McCarthy for 2 more pitchers, only 1 of whom might help the Sox that year (Masset). Danks winds up in the rotation sort of by default, and is basically told to work it out as a rook. Ok, that's tolerable, sometimes you strike gold by just plugging in a kid like that. At least we're still trying to add youth but still win. But then we bring in Erstad, and bring back Podsednik, and then take no other moves to upgrade. Erstad isn't exactly a spring chicken there, so all he does is maybe block someone like Anderson, Sweeney, or Owens. So we're subtracting big league guys, but adding youth that might not be ready and adding guys past their prime? Ok, this is starting to seem like an odd formula. Then, the 07 team falls apart. And so what do we do? We have IMO 3 things we can do; try to completely rebuild by selling off what we can for low level minor leaguers and draft picks, try to retool for next year and hope for some luck from the guys we have, or try to set ourselves up for a push in FA this offseason. For the first one of those, deals like Mack and Iguchi make sense; you create a roster spot, you clear a little salary, you give Richar a chance for a few months, and you pick up a minor leaguer who might someday do something. Holding onto Dye also makes sense, because if nothing else you get a few picks. But if you're totally rebuilding, why in the world do you hold onto Guys like Garland, Vazquez, Thome, Erstad, Podsednik, AJ, Jenks, etc. I can see holding a couple of those guys, but if you want to do the full rebuilding route, and do deals like the Mack & Gooch deals for low level minor leaguers, or let people like JD walk for draft picks, then why do you hold onto so many big name, high priced guys who only have a couple years on their contract? If we're trying to just retool for next year, clearing a spot for Richar makes sense, but then why move guys like Iguchi and Mack for such low level minor leaguers? Even if you just get a AAAA reliever, it might help you more next year. And if we're trying to set ourselves up for a FA run, why are we holding onto $45 million + in starting pitching alone? We needed to clear some salary if we're looking to do a one offseason rebuild. I just can't see how this team has any direction at all right now, and that concerns me. Nice Post Balta. Should prolly be in Pale Hose for all to see.
  16. Exclusive: Finished ‘Potter’? Rowling tells what happens next Exclusive: Author gives details on events after the book’s final epilogue By Jen Brown TODAYShow.com contributor Updated: 6:38 a.m. CT July 26, 2007 Spoiler alert: This story reveals some key plot points in the final Harry Potter book. So if you've haven't finished the book, J.K. Rowling asks that you not read this story. If you found the epilogue of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” rather vague, then J.K. Rowling achieved her goal. The author was shooting for “nebulous,” something “poetic.” She wanted the readers to feel as if they were looking at Platform 9¾ through the mist, unable to make out exactly who was there and who was not. “I do, of course, have that information for you, should you require it,” she told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira rather coyly in her first interview since fans got their hands on the final book. Ummm … yes, please! Rowling said her original epilogue was “a lot more detailed,” including the name of every child born to the Weasley clan in the past 19 years. (Victoire, who was snogging Teddy — Lupin and Tonks’ son — is Bill and Fleur’s eldest.) “But it didn’t work very well as a piece of writing,” Rowling said. “It felt very much that I had crowbarred in every bit of information I could … In a novel you have to resist the urge to tell everything.” But now that the seventh and final novel is in the hands of her adoring public, Rowling no longer has to hold back any information about Harry Potter from her fans. And when 14 fans crowded around her in Edinburgh Castle in Scotland earlier this week as part of TODAY’s interview, Rowling was more than willing to share her thoughts about what Harry and his friends are up to now. Harry, Ron and Hermione We know that Harry marries Ginny and has three kids, essentially, as Rowling explains, creating the family and the peace and calm he never had as a child. As for his occupation, Harry, along with Ron, is working at the Auror Department at the Ministry of Magic. After all these years, Harry is now the department head. “Harry and Ron utterly revolutionized the Auror Department,” Rowling said. “They are now the experts. It doesn’t matter how old they are or what else they’ve done.” Meanwhile, Hermione, Ron’s wife, is “pretty high up” in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, despite laughing at the idea of becoming a lawyer in “Deathly Hallows.” “I would imagine that her brainpower and her knowledge of how the Dark Arts operate would really give her a sound grounding,” Rowling said. Harry, Ron and Hermione don’t join the same Ministry of Magic they had been at odds with for years; they revolutionize it and the ministry evolves into a “really good place to be.” “They made a new world,” Rowling said. The wizarding naturalist Luna Lovegood, the eccentric Ravenclaw who was fascinated with Crumple-Horned Snorkacks and Umgubular Slashkilters, continues to march to the beat of her own drum. “I think that Luna is now traveling the world looking for various mad creatures,” Rowling said. “She’s a naturalist, whatever the wizarding equivalent of that is.” Luna comes to see the truth about her father, eventually acknowledging there are some creatures that don’t exist. “But I do think that she’s so open-minded and just an incredible person that she probably would be uncovering things that no one’s ever seen before,” Rowling said. Luna and Neville Longbottom? It’s possible Luna has also found love with another member of the D.A. When she was first asked about the possibility of Luna hooking up with Neville Longbottom several years ago, Rowling’s response was “Definitely not.” But as time passed and she watched her characters mature, Rowling started to “feel a bit of a pull” between the unlikely pair. Ultimately, Rowling left the question of their relationship open at the end of the book because doing otherwise “felt too neat.” Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom: “The damage is done.” There is no chance, however, that Neville’s parents, who were tortured into madness by Bellatrix Lestrange, ever left St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies. “I know people really wanted some hope for that, and I can quite see why because, in a way, what happens to Neville’s parents is even worse than what happened to Harry’s parents,” Rowling said. “The damage that is done, in some cases with very dark magic, is done permanently.” Rowling said Neville finds happiness in his grandmother’s acceptance of him as a gifted wizard and as the new herbology professor at Hogwarts. The fate of Hogwarts Nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry is led by an entirely new headmaster (“McGonagall was really getting on a bit”) as well as a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. That position is now as safe as the other teaching posts at Hogwarts, since Voldemort’s death broke the jinx that kept a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor from remaining for more than a year. While Rowling didn’t clarify whether Harry, Ron and Hermione ever return to school to finish their seventh year, she did say she could see Harry popping up every now and again to give the “odd talk” on Defense Against the Dark Arts. More details to come? Rowling said she may eventually reveal more details in a Harry Potter encyclopedia, but even then, it will never be enough to satisfy the most ardent of her fans. “I’m dealing with a level of obsession in some of my fans that will not rest until they know the middle names of Harry’s great-great-grandparents,” she said. Not that she’s discouraging the Potter devotion! “I love it,” she said. “I’m all for that.” TODAY is airing more of the exclusive interview with J.K. Rowling on Friday. “Dateline NBC” will air a special hour with the author on Sunday. © 2007 MSNBC Interactive URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/
  17. Just read some red sawx board where a guy wrote that ESPN insider just said.. Manny for Dye-Garland. Most posts following think it's BS and so do I.
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) Angelo strikes again...The depth we have on D this year is unreal. Let's just pray we can stay relatively healthy (no season-ending injuries) and get some good years from Brown and Wale. Both those guys played below expectations, IMO, last year. Wale has underperformed since he got here and he is usually playing against the weaker tackles.
  19. How about this one? I watched this one get built from the ground up. I used to cut across it when it was a vacant lot so I was able to see it from start to finish. Also 111 S Wacker is pretty recent as is the building right next to it the hyatt center 71 East Huron is another interesting looking one. http://chicagoarchitecture.info/ great place for info on new buildings.
  20. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) I'm hoping Mike will be just fine. He is the leader of that D on and off the field. Just a great teammate and an extrodinary talent. He was one to never miss a snap as he never missed a game his first 4 years as a pro. The last 3 years he played only 20 of 48 games and I know no one feels more bad about it than him. He wants to be on the field more than anyone and that attitude is why the bears brought him back. A lot of pros would have hung it up after going through the injuries Brown has gone through. Coaches are quoted as saying he's back as strong as ever. I love the heart in Brown. Ditto that. He has had an incredible string of bad luck. He is the kind of player you want on the field at all times.
  21. Dvoracek and Walker will be in competition about the same that Anderson and Erstad were. Walker will be the starter, but I think the rotation will be such that Adams, Dvoracek, Idonije and Walker will all pretty much get equal snaps over the course of the year. Harris will be the one that carries the load. Either way the line is SOLID...inside and out. Even to the point that if a big time DE goes down with an injury in camp, the Bears are in a good position to deal Brown or Ogun. Although Ogun's contract will be a tough sell. I am surprised the Bills couldn't get something worked out with Walker. They signed Idonije to an offer sheet last year too, but the Bears matched it. It's pretty clear they wanted some vet leadership at the position. Oh well...good for the Bears,
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) Actually, he was signed to compete with Anderson for the starting job, remember? Thats what Ozzie told us, right? That's what I thought originally and actually liked the pick up at that point caus I thought he would make a good 4th OF. Speaking of BA, any info on him? I can't fiind anything on future sox. Is he injured?
