  1. Smart as heck, check. Baseball smart as heck, check. We all love the guy, check. Has coaching experience, uh... Likes working with young players, uh... Maybe not.
  2. And a teeny tiny bit of negative attention? Ya think?
  3. Stinky Stanky replied to Texsox's topic in SLaM
Thighs. Harder to muck up and twice the taste of breasts. Wood smoke too? I do. Indirect, of course, but I cheat a little at the end and crisp them up a bit.
  4. Not that Hawk ever used it, but I'm familiar with the one involving a corncob and a tractor. ?
  5. I don't know why he does anything and neither do you. ?
  6. One word reason for Ozzie's success in 2005 and failure a year later: Bullpen. Gimme that bullpen and I'll manage for free and be a genius too.
  7. I hope reform doesn't mean stiffing the pensioners. That would give a new meaning to the word Reform. She is as likely to have written The Art of the Deal as Donald Trump. He may not have read the damn thing.
  8. Good one. Weight distribution. There's a 60 yard chipping range at the local course here. I'll hit it today. BTW, I was having a devil of a time with fat and thin chips until I took my wrists out of it. But I'm an old guy and you teach young guys.
  9. Blather. He knew everything and told it to Bob Woodward in their intereviews in February. It's all on tape. Google it and learn.
  10. Hate to quote myself, but he reversed himself on the stimulus deal. That took about an hour.
  11. It could be OKC is strapped for cash and he headed for higher ground. And what you posted. I know a guy who is giving up on Coby at PG. Oh Hell, it's me. He could start by geting a rebound. Or learning to play in traffic without getting the ball chopped away by the guards. The Gallinari II post is right on. He ain't gonna be the new Dirk.
  12. She needs to be on TV because I think she's cute. Is that so wrong? ? Yeah, she knows her sports and is a professional broadcaster, too. But take the job if it's offered. I might start listening to Bernstein again.
  13. I started shanking chip shots on #18 Monday. And I was chipping the best in 10 years! Post whatever you come up with, I gotta know. Wristiness was suggested to me one time as a cause by a great golfer/coach I know, but I took the wrists out of my chipping.
  14. Being an old guy, I grew up when the shoe was on the other foot. Always is a long time.
  15. I'm getting tired of the AT&T houseguest slob in the bathtub. More ad money would help, but we need butts in the seats and eating Polishes with grilled onions.
  16. Ozzie could do eeny, meeny with his bullpen and win games in 2005. That means he's smart! A half season later the BP was floundering. Does that mean he got dumb, or that managers are as good as their bullpens? Either way, the Cubs once yanked Lou Boudreau out of the radio booth at midseason and replaced Charlie Grimm(?) with him. Might it happen here? God no!
  17. I'm not blaming him, just saying that his absence hurt. This is a great thread that had a brief moment off the tracks for petty bolshoi but got it back together. It would have been unnecessary if Jose could have got a clutch hit those last 2 games. Still MVP, but... It would have been unnecessary if DK gave us 6 nice innings in game 2. BTW, the 'stros got to Bassitt in his next outing. It's all futile cuz we were not capable of winning more than a 3 game series. The post about RR being replaced at midseason. It ain't that crazy. Wasn't Lamont? I had fun this season. I hope you all did.
  18. (the quote about feeling better than in 20 years) The steroid he's getting, Dexamethasone, makes you feel better even if you're sick. They give it to cancer patients. The "dietary supplement" he's getting, Melatonin, is a hormone produced by the pineal gland (it's above your brain) that regulates sleep. One of the side effects of Dexamethasone is to keep you awake at night. The guy doesn't understand why he's feeling better! I guarantee with ~100% certainty that there will be a deal before election day even though he said there won't. His negotiation style is to go to the extreme, in public, and scare people. Who are we to say it doesn't work?
  19. A soft tossing lefty? Yep. He does have that whip motion like Kopech that I didn't see before. Oh, rats.
  20. Net of that "Rutherford" trade: Failure after failure.
  21. Rings a bell, anyway.
  22. Shoulda started deGrom but he's not on the team. So he picked a number out of a hat. You got a better idea? That one hurt but Heuer's still got a big future right here. That one and the failure of the offense in the clutch. We'll get 'em next year.
  23. He endured the usual two hours of hair and makeup and put on a suit and tie to get on the helicopter. I have the feeling he thinks it's not that serious. Or doesn't want us to think it is.
  24. Read between the lines on this one.
  25. Bright side: No more debates to embarrass us before the world. Although the last one was a good time for me to watch my tape of Game 1 since I played golf during it. I did tell my wife to take good notes. They will get the best of care and be fine, let's hope.
