  1. QUOTE(Purdue129 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Purdue's setting themselves up for a serious beatdown by the Hoosiers Agreed on that. Iowa just played Purdue in West Lafayette, and IU in Iowa City, and I can honestly say that I thought that IU was the better team. What happened to the defense 129? I know they returned all 11 starters from last season.
  2. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) I disagree. I didn’t read the column you refer to, but I heard enough quotes from Ozzie and Don Cooper before, during and after the game to get the impression that they WERE a little concerned with Garland being a bit too strong after his long lay off. And then they were thrilled with the outcome. That was the gist of it. Do you think you may be letting your feelings about Mariotti cloud your judgement? I don’t read sports writers on deadline and compare their quotes word for word with an audio transcript. But I do notice that if I read several different reporters, they’ll all have slightly different renditions of the words that everyone has heard. That is totally accepted in the profession. This isn’t a presidential news conference, folks! No one bats an eye unless something controversial has been said (oh, say, like Ozzie’s homosexual/child molester comment. Everyone made sure they got that quote EXACTLY right, because they needed to). Finally, do you actually listen to Ozzie? If someone like Mariotti just printed verbatim what comes out of Ozzie’s mouth most days, people would be justified in thinking that he was taking unfair shots at his English. Hey, what ever happened to the idea of just one "I hate Jay Mariotti" thread? From the article in question. Mentions of the name.... Garland - 5 Eddings - 10 Monkey - 7 Konerko - 1 Guillen - 2 Ligue - 1 Make no mistake about it, the guy is a giant douche. Ligue gets as many mentions as the offensive hero. The right field umpire gets twice as many games as the pitcher who threw a complete game 4-hitter in his first postseason start.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) I'm not exactly clamoring for Trev back, though. He was honest. He hammered his alma mater, Nebraska when s*** wasn't going right.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) On a side note....Lou Holtz....stop being a slapdick. It is possible for Notre Dame to lose again this decade. How many weeks until the NCAA begins an investigation on the ESPN Gameday crew for illegal recruiting? Holtz = Giant Douche I miss Trev Alberts.
  5. ... and I was wrong... Iowa's D-line still is teh suck, though. Now GO Michigan! A UM win puts Iowa in a tie for first in the big ten, with the Wolverines headed to IC next weekend.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Anyone just see how Wisconsin won...check that how Minnesota lost. Bunch of losers. I'd be pissed if I was a MInny fan.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) 24-21 Iowa, 9:51 in the 4th... Told ya so... Indy has 50 pass attempts, and 0 sacks (there may be one, but there was a penalty, so I'm not sure.) Iowa's D-Line = Worst in the Big Ten. Beat that Illinois!
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Poor Katie. She used to have talent. Now, she has Tom's schlong. :puke
  9. P-0wned, or however you say that. Nice catch TLAK.
  10. ^ Agreed on that.... Normally I'm complaining that Solomon isn't getting the ball enough, considering he is the best athlete on the field, but that's just not the case today with Hardy out there.
  11. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Wite, wouldn't you agree that the pitcher has the most control by far over an opposing team's offense, and therefore, is the primary component of defense? I'm just trying to figure out why people don't regard them as one and the same. If you could break it down in terms of "defensive impact" ratio, I'd favor Contreras 75 to 25 in the second half. Spectacular plays are made behind him, but the offense is clearly his b**** because of what he himself brings to the table. Right now, he is our Patrick Roy, our Ben Wallace, our Ray Lewis, etc. Your "defence impact ratio" got me thinking... So I compared each teams DER [(Defensive Efficiency ratio) which is simply the % of Balls in play converted into outs] to their ERA I got a correlation of -.839 -- As the DER comes down (less Balls in play converted into outs) the ERA goes up. Obviously, this is to be expected, but .839 is not all that strong. Especially when you consider that Team OBP correlates to Runs scored at about .92 and Team OPS correlates to runs scored at about .95 *** Those correlations are from memory, so they may not be 100% accurate, but they're close.
  12. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) So should KW write a book (Billy Beane style) for: Raping Ed lynch to give up Garland Raping Billy Beane to give up Cotts Raping Colorado management to give up Uribe Raping Mariners GM to give up Garcia Raping Cashman to give up Contreras ---------------------------------------- You know, KW might actually make it to the series with this team, and Beane has never even got there. KW gets no credit for Garland, he was at best a bug in Shueler's ear on that trade.
  13. I missed a game in 2002, he went 7 and allowed 4 earned in that game... Still that's just 5 runs in 20 IP on long rest, and I hardly think we're starting the 2002 version of Garland.
  14. QUOTE(Adam G @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) I wish. They had a good stat on the radio...this year when pitchers are on 4 days rest they're 19 games over .500, but when they're on 6 or more days rest they're 9 games under .500. Garland is 2-0 with 7 or more days rest. Oh and he's allowed 1 run in 13 innings in those starts.
  15. Shoeless Joe did, in fact, wear shoes. STFU Jeanie
  16. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Juggs isn't fooling me. If he believed half the stuff he spouts off here, he and his wife would have 18 babies by now. Oh but he is fooling you. -- You think believe he has a wife.
  17. QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Not a bad idea, that is what I suggested we do to him QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) BWAHAHAHAHA does anyone else find this as IRONIC as I do???? Yeah. It's the funniest thing about this thread.
  18. ^ Post beat me to the punch. Can't sell a Cheryl Crow album. Gotta put a sleeve on that Cosmo and move it to the back of the store. Guns are in aisle 3 next the confederate flags.
  19. Ok, I used a different program. No silly little text over the middle of the screen... Also, I cut the filesize down to about 10MB. http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2LLUQSE...R43OKX1LUOCV9CD
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Is there anyway to capture footage from mlb.tv to put in a video on say Windows Movie Maker?
  21. There's a better file at the end of this thread.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Something tells me that was Cheat Photoshop special Yeah it's a genuine Cheat™
