  1. Not the biggest Ozzie fan, but always grateful for his efforts in 2005, winning here, team played smart, built on pitching and solid fundamentals, not steroids. He did a masterful job that season, by far the best of any White Sox manager in our lifetimes (assuming nobody here is over 100). Ozzie has a lot to be proud of, has paid dearly for any "sins" by being blackballed from the game.
  2. September 3rd update: American League Central 9 Minnesota 11 Kansas City 13 Detroit 20 Cleveland MLB Teams eliminated from Division race: Arizona, Pittsburgh, Texas, Baltimore. MLB Teams in single digits of being eliminated from the Division race: Colorado (4), Chicago Cubs (6), Minnesota (9).
  3. Las Vegas, Nevada reports the following lineup, for your Chicago White Sox: 1. Romy Gonzalez (R) 3B 2. Luis Robert (R) CF 3. Jose Abreu (R) 1B 4. Eloy Jimenez (R) DH 5. Yasmani Grandal (S) C 6. Andrew Vaughn (R) LF 7. Leury Garcia (S) RF 8. Cesar Hernandez (S) 2B 9. Danny Mendick (R) SS
  4. Can't use Happ as a valid example. Happ had about $2.6M left on his deal when the Cardinals took him as a 5th starter. Keuchel has $19.5M on his deal for 2022, $38.0M if he reaches 160 (plus any additional innings short of 160 he reaches this year).
  5. Jake Lamb seems right out of place.....
  6. Updated leaderboard through September 3, 2021: Number of Hitters used (1 + plate appearance) 53 MLB Record - Tied (Current NL Record 53 (2006 Washington Nationals) & Current AL Record 53 (1915 Philadelphia Athletics)) 2021 New York Mets (50) 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers (49) 2021 Chicago Cubs (48) Number of Pitchers used (1 + batters faced) MLB/AL Record 42 (2019 Seattle Mariners); NL Record 40 (2021 New York Mets) 2021 New York Mets (40) - (Warming Up - Brad Hand) 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers (39) - 38th Pitcher Justin Turner (8/29) & 39th pitcher Andrew Vasquez (9/3) 2021 Arizona (39) - 39th Pitcher Humberto Mejia (8/23) 2021 Chicago Cubs (38) - 38th Pitcher Scott Effross (8/29) Note - Faced the White Sox 2021 Tampa Bay (37) - 37th Pitcher David Robertson (9/1) 2021 Seattle (37) - 37th Pitcher Sean Doolittle (8/27) 2021 Toronto (37)
  7. I see Hamilton and Romy getting a chance to start tonight against Lynch. Tony pulled Grandal yesterday, so perhaps he will attempt to start at catcher tonight vs. saving him for the Sunday day game. Hopefully Reynaldo can keep the good times rolling, and force Keuchel out later this month once Lynn and Lucas can return. Sox need to win the next two to win the season series, otherwise Matheny will own the season series over his mentor La Russa.
  8. He won player of the day by DJ. May be a first and last. Still good to have a positive tonight. The good bullpen guys are rested to hopefully help take the next two.
  9. Was the first excitement since the third. Looking forward to his first start, hopefully tomorrow. Time to see what he has in the field and with a few at bats in a game.
  10. It should be Mendick 6th Goodwin 7th Hamilton 8th
  11. I've been consistent all along, called the contract an albatross since I signed up here. He had several good starts against poor teams, its not a "year", it's less than a two month stretch, and then he turned into a pumpkin when they needed him in the playoffs, his last chance at a meaningful game in his career. If he had a solid legitimate full season, than it would be "revisionist".
  12. No, hard pass for all other GMs in 2020, they passed in 2019 as well until July. Older players are typically poor signings for 3-4 year deals.
  13. 60 game schedule against Central division only teams. And he sucked ass when it counted in OIakland. It was a bad signing from Go.
  14. Sad if they can't take Kansas City in the season series.
  15. He'll gear up and do better next season, will actually try to get ready in Spring Training. Sox never stretched out Kopech or Crochet, down to three starters unless they sign Rodon and/or one more, and that assumes the other three can stay relatively healthy once again. Even if you pull him on Day 1, an $18M bullpen guy is a killer, they are likely stuck with a poor 5th starter for the next two seasons and hope their other older players don't collapse (Lynn, Hendriks, Kimbrel if they keep him, Grandal).
  16. Lynn and Lucas have legitimate injuries, Dallas can usually eat 4-5 innings with 2-3 runs allowed, anything more is a bonus
  17. This. HopLeaf the best version here. Speaking of which, pissed Chicago is being passed over again for Zwanze Day, thinking about hitting Saint Louis.
  18. Len is reporting Tony is arguing with the 3B umpire. Perhaps about the weather,
