Yeah yeah yeah jerry sucks and hahn is an idiot we all know that.

The White Sox have produced Tatis, Semien, Rodon, and Tim.   Those are 4 players in the Top 30.  They have helped hone Cease, a Top 5 pitcher in the game.  There's Robert and Moncada who could break into that 5-some.

This organization has a lot of problems.  But they have made 5 of the best players in baseball.  Not only that, they are all entertaining players.  Not too many other clubs can say that.

and theyre not gonna end up paying any of them. Funny how that happens.

You have to think about trading TA7 Giolito (if any value) anyone from the pen, Reynaldo Lopez, Grandal in walk year, etc.

    Graveman/Bummer/Kelly.

Parting with Robert or Cease is the end, though.

For what though? In a failed desperate  attempt to save the season, they probably acquire mediocre short term solutions that ultimately fail instead of true young talent. That’s the Sox way.

The White Sox are really gonna waste the primes of Cease, Moncada and Robert, just like they already did with Abreu and Anderson.

    Fucking inexcusable.

They probably don’t have the balls (or Jerry’s permission) to trade their best veterans to rebuild, and won’t pay to retain them either.

It's only a few games, but already Pedro Grifol has left Michael Kopech and Lance Lynn in as starters while they got shelled.

Why does that remind me of Ozzie?

Because Ozzie's philosophy was to make his starters give him 100 pitches regardless of whether they had their stuff that day or not.  Today, nobody gets to 100 pitches, but making a starter who doesn't have it go 80-90 pitches or more is essentially the same thing.

I recall a story about Ozzie and Jon Garland.  Garland was skittish. If he got into trouble, he would start looking into the dugout expecting the hook. The story I recall is that Ozzie came out and said "why are you looking into the dugout?  Are you expecting me to take you off the hook?  This is your mess.  Clean it up."  (Something like that.)  He made Garland realize he wasn't going to get relieved just because he got into trouble.  He had to learn how to get out of it.  Made him a much better pitcher.  Plus it saved the bullpen.

I think Grifol might think the same way.  Game's out of hand anyway.  As long as the starter isn't hurting themselves, make them learn how to get out of trouble, and save a thin bullpen that hasn't pitched very well itself.

Not much of a track record to go on, but I'm okay with that approach.

In 2005, it allowed White Sox starters to post something no team is ever going to come close to matching ever again.  4 complete games in a row in the ALCS.  Won't happen at any point in any season ever again.  And in the 5th game, the bullpen pitched 2/3 of an inning.  5 games, 2/3 of an inning from the bullpen.

Ozzie helped turn his starters into aces.  We'll see how Grifol's approach works with this staff.

I don’t know how much blame can go to a manager that has to get innings from his starters because his GM left him with a bullpen that has very little to offer, especially for a team that ostensibly is competing for the division. So pick your poison. Stress a bullpen that might be a smoking crater by midseason, or take the pain.

Didn't he have a slight calf problem in the spring ? I think that stance will screw with his calf but it could go higher up I suppose.

he may have IDK, but he was busting his ass down the first base line a couple games ago. Maybe the Sox should give him the exclusive TLR exception to hustle

Interested in which hamstring it is. I can't remember what game it was, I think one of the last 2-3 games. He was running to 1B and he landed kinda funny on the 1B bag with his right leg.

His what hurts. If it was the same leg as last year, this becomes a more serious issue. If it is the other leg, it becomes a more serious issue.

    Bad finish wasted your closer.

Sometimes guys just need the work. There's no way to tell if Pedro is going to do a good job yet, but this strikes me as one of those times they felt they had room to get him the work they thought he needed. Unfortunately he had to throw so many pitches. But it's better thsan blowing a save in a 1 run game  tomorrow because he's a little loose with his stuff.

Very happy with a split in Houston, depleted or not they still have a ton of talent. Absolutely incredible how many two out RBI's they produced in this series.

Colas is impressing me more and more everyday. Kid will eventually have to make adjustments as teams get a book on him but right now he looks like he belongs and knows what he's doing.

I'm satisfied. If the Bullpen was doing a consistent job, then I'm made happy.

Colas from what I understand has soaked up every bit of hit coaching they threw at him for going on 2 years. He'll be able to make adjustments probably.

I agree a few relief pitchers haven’t been sharp but it would be a big help if the offense could drive in those runners on base. If we win Sunday for. Series split I will be happy

The split doesn’t matter. The state of the bullpen matters.
