You made a suggestion that Rick Hahn agreed with.
This isn’t a compliment.
Perhaps not. 😢

Wow. When I proposed this earlier this year I was shot down like a clay pigeon. Not a good idea! Too young! Unwise! Get a clue kid!

Put him on IL and let him get better.
The get better part, never gonna happen

So, you’re saying there’s a chance

I would say this is the most White Sox thing ever, but that statement covers a lot of ground actually

Too bad gotta bench him to get his attention to focus

No defense for Tim here. He put on his Astros cap in that moment, for all intents and purposes. Disappointing.
He has his issues. But he is justified. Anyway blowing off steam is likely what happened. Allegedly he wanted an extension. For that, he is crazy.

I agree that ideally you want someone who plays an up the middle position, those are the more valuable and the more premium positions
BUT
I think this is a guy who hits 35 homers a year and rocks an absurd OBP. Also, the college slugger is the safest pick to make in the draft, so you’ll have a contributing big leaguer at worst. I think he’s a high ceiling player with a high floor as well.
You’re rating him at the draft to be at a high all star MLB level, and that’s fine. College slugger first base/DH /catcher is the Sox fav thing to do, and has worked out very well for us. Hopefully the appropriate amount of sarcasm is coming through.

This season is on the brink of spiraling out of control fast. There is a very real chance that this team is 10 games under 500 come May 1st. We heard the dont panic cause it is early in the season refrain all last year. We will hear it again now. How many times till we don't get fooled again?
I commend you for facing reality very quickly. Some pollyannas will think this talent is a mental disease that will lead to substance abuse, health problems or self harm. And the pollyannas will live longer healthier lives in a state of blissful denial. But I still commend you.

My favorite player in next year’s draft class is the Wake Forest 1B/RF, Nick Kurst. He’s a more athletic Adam Dunn, he’s also a better pure hitter than Dunn. The power and OBP skills are off the charts.
Of course. First base. Doesn't anybody notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Does anyone really think Hahn/Williams would turn the top pick into a good major league player?

The Twitter world is having a field day...and rightfully so, mocking Moncada with the typical jokes that SoxTalk always post.
I’m less worried about new injury, than old long Covid relapses.

I remember a thread where people were drooling about how swole Kopech and Jimenez were and were jerking each other off over the theee future Hall of Famers Jimenez and Roberts and Moncada.
Hey, they never gave us an opportunity to develop a healthy prospects skepticism before. Gave us a bunch if new toys all at once we hadn’t seen the likes of since Big Frank, and we assumed. We’re catching up. Colas had us mildly interested. If the Sox had any new ones to show us we should be ready to 💩 on them when the time comes 😂

Me too kinda. But really don't want Hahn and Kenny anywhere near a next rebuild
Which is absurd that they will absolutely be running the show. Jerry doesn’t like being told what to do. Especially by fans and sportswriters. If you truly wanted him to sell, you’d tell him not to sell. Start a campaign to extend Rick Hahn’s and Kenny Williams’ contracts

It doesn't matter what he says anymore. He is never getting fired as long as JR is owner. We are looking at another upcoming decade of darkness for White Sox nation. It's time to probably just put the whole entire organization on ignore.
The reasons I returned to the Sox was the attractiveness with a turnaround toward youth, and an emphasis on building with minor league prospects. They sort of artificially infused the talent into the organization. Nonetheless, I expected some organic growth in a traditional sense along these lines. But they just petered out. And the artificially infused talent is busting like crazy. We should be the Rays.

Wrong thread earlier. To say it where I wanted
This is why asking the same old people to make wholesale changes in direction doesn’t work. Got to clean house if you are going to be turning the battleship. And this is the fault of ownership’s lack of basic understanding how to win, and how to hire (and fire) to win. Now, the caveat to this is that it was Hahns idea to change direction iirc. But that was when Jerry should have said, great idea Rick. Get out

The fact I am willing to show optimism, though, only means that tonight will be sheer and utter misery. I will read this post later tonight and laugh/mock myself while cursing the White Sox, Cease, etc.I'm going to try and watch with hopeful eyes again, though. I realize how bad this is/has been, TRUST ME. I just don't want the season to have been lost in April. For chrissake, they're the only reason I paid in full before the season for MLB.TV living out of market. lol
The Sox come at you fast. At least you called it. Trying on the pollyanna pants even for a short while might be better for mental health, idk. So might be giving up. I mean, look at the roster with fresh eyes. Pollyanaism is interesting, like a survival mechanism for some. Others go the other way. Born of the same desperation i suppose

You are totally correct and bringing on total chaos instead can't be emphasized enough. Being competitive and hanging around .500 in the worst division in baseball could be a disaster. The worst scenario is the Sox get close to .500 and close to first place in the worst division in baseball near the trade deadline. Then genius Hahn avoids selling off the Sox assets, and perhaps even becomes a dumb buyer to give away more prospects from our weak farm system. The trades he makes end up being horrible, as most of them are.
It's not like we haven't been used to losing. Since the 2005 World Series title, over the next 17 seasons, the Sox have seen only 5 seasons over .500, 3 years in the playoffs and one playoff win.
This team will show you a few glimpses of greatness to tease you, but far more days of dumb losing baseball. If we're not going to make the playoffs, then I'm not up for being competitive. They might as well have a disaster finish and lose over 100 games, to hopefully have a small chance at the FO being fired.
