  1. Basically, I agree with you. I never liked LaRussa, primarily for his role in the entire steroid farce. And I also believe that if they had hired Alomar, the White SOx could have really shown the world what an enlightened management could do to turn its entire organization around in what I would say was the "RIGHT WAY". Now, I think that they have taken a step back by hiring Tony who I think is a good and smart manager but not a good person who will do everything and anything to win. NOw, in a starved White Sox community, that should be enough but it won't be as enjoyable to me.
  2. Of course it is a show. A SHOW of PATRIOTISM enjoyed by millions of Americans for decades.
  3. I said nothing of the kind. I like to stand and sing the national anthem. Most Americans do also. It is tradition and has been considered a wonderful way to bring people together. I guess some people want to stop this from happening and make up lies about the people who enjoy the anthem. It is people like you that just cannot stop b****ing and moaning about other people being happy and proud of their country and its accomplishments.
  4. That dog doesn't hunt. No one is forced to stand for the anthem let alone sing the anthem. A helluva lot of people do, however. It is a great thing for me and my friends and family to do before a major event. We aren't "manipulated" in any way either. I am a veteran myself and the honor that my fellow Americans share with me when that song plays is a joyful one. If someone doesn't want to do this that is fine with me. Just don't disrespect me or mock me for doing it as that would piss me off and cause trouble for the both of us.
  5. Where are fans forced to stand for the national anthem? I haven't seen that happen anywhere in the United States in any public gathering. DOn't make shit up please.
  6. Where is this forced patriotism supposedly taking place? No fans are forced to stand for the national anthem or the pledge of allegiance. As for players kneeling, that is another issue and that is between the owners and the players and what is specified in their player's contracts.
  7. ignore me then. I give a care what you think of my "takes".
  8. Love of country and respect for veterans should transcend politics. That is my opinion.
  9. Patriotism is not politics the way I see it. Flyovers and standing for the national anthem are not political and do not reflect anything other than honoring our veterans and those who died and were wounded in defending out country. As for "knowing my type", leave this alone with me. I do not want to get into it with you on anything that has to do with politics.
  10. Its pretty ovious to me that they guys has got extremely tight hamstrings. He's built like an NFL running back and the quick starts and stops in baseball aggravate his hamstrings.
  11. Certainly not a few upper echelon players. They ruined the game with their politics and basically deciding among themselves who was going to win or even compete for a championship.
  12. What are you talking about? The guy came through Covid-19 which wrecked him physically. And despite that illness and the effect that it had on his hitting, played as good a 3rd base defensively as anyone in all of baseball. YOu think he "dogged it"?
  13. Nope. Not in baseball. basketball still is the only major sport where the players run the sport as they want it to be run. That is the reason I don't watch basketball at all.
  14. By mellow I mean not a hothead or a loudmouth. I don't think that Moncada will have a problem with LaRussa because Moncada, to me is a prototypical pro's pro on how he handles himself in the game. I doubt if LaRussa would ever mess with how Moncada conducts his affairs. My concern is with Tim Anderson. That's a different personality entirely.
  15. I can speak Spanish also. That doesn't make me Latin. Big difference, right?
  16. They just named him for cripes sake. He hasn't even hired a staff yet, especially a pitching coach. Hiring a manager doesn't require getting a team's player approval, even in this day and age of pampered athletes.
  17. Eaton out produced him in several categories for sure. Being a real asshole and being very much over-paid.
  18. Renteria was very popular with the Hispanic players on the team who coincidently are the majority of their best players. Perhaps, the smart move would be for bringing in Alomar in as the bench coach if he doesn't get a manager's job?
  19. I do think that Hahn will leave. Question though is when? I think that he will get a lot of credit for the rebuilding job that he has done and I think he has every right to be pissed. It'll depend on what GM jobs are going to be out there next year. IF he sticks it out, he almost has to give LaRussa a lot of leeway given the guy's experience and hope he wins a championship and then Hahn leaves with a better resume.
  20. I think so. There could be a risk if he goes in heavy handed but he does know a lot of baseball and has seen just about everything good and bad about the players and the games within the game. But like you said, if he brings in a good pitching coach or two and a couple of good position and base coaches, It should be a lot better than under Renteria.
  21. The key hire to me is the pitching coach. Pitching was mainly the reason why I wanted Sandy Alomar to be hired as the Sox manager. I was a Don Cooper advocate throughout his long career with the Sox but it became obvious to me in the last 4-5 years that the new baseball and the game itself has passed him by. They need to get a pitching coach that can relate to the current baseball, the spin rate changes, new training routines, and what changes in terms of putting together a pitching staff should be.
  22. Why do you think that? Moncada seems to be a pretty mellow steady guy. If there were a guy who I think may well have a problem with La Russa, it might be Grandal or Anderson or a high strung pitcher or two.
  23. That's a very interesting take. And it may not be far fetched. Reinny is a very loyal fellow. Thinking that he is sorry for firing Tony and wants to make amends isn't out of the question to me.
