La Russa arrested for DUI in Feb; charged day before hire
The Hawk replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Okay. I just posted a similar thought about the possibility of his mixing alcohol with drugs and your post nailed this in my mind at least. As far as I know, his blood alcohol isn't such that he would be weaving all around and wrecking his car. -

Based on what? Its just a guess, right? My guess is that he drives drunk quite a bit. Also, that alcohol level seems kind of low really given that he messed up the car, right? Maybe in addition to drinking, he had maybe taken something else that amplified the effect of the alcohol? Just a guess of course. I've never understood celebrities who have all of the money in the world to afford someone to drive them around or could afford to take Lyft or Uber or a cab to wherever they wanted to go still do the absolutely stupid thing and drive drunk. -

Wow. So now this isn't screwed up enough so lets point the blame on a Sheriff, huh? What a crock. -
Yep. When you look at the year that he had, he actually go better as an all around hitter. I've always maintained that Jose had suffered because of a lack of a quality hitter behind him. He started to really blossom into more than just a Hr/RBI guy in 2019 but when this season really took care of putting quality bats behind him as well as ahead of him, He could focus on not swinging at bad pitches as well as taking the outside pitch to right field and yeah, taking a walk knowing that the next guy up was perfectly capable of driving in runs also.

Can Hahn Make Moves Without TLR Approval?

Bringing Molina in would be a worse mistake than the signing of EE. -
New Manager. Who could sox target at this point?
The Hawk replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sure they would be interested if I were them. This team already is loaded and have a wealth of prospects to use to make it even better either via trade or developing into major leaguers themselves. But, this is all Reinny's fault and he needs to act soon and correctly. Letting this go on and on through the winter will hurt the off season possibilities. -

Did he get the virus or only violate the team's policy? To me, this is minor shit. -

No. But then, stranger things have happened. I think that this all is on Jerry once again. He and LaRussa should have a heart to heart chat and Tony should step away and get cleaned up. He has larger issues going on with himself than managing a baseball team. He is an alcoholic and that in itself should mean something to both he and Reinny. -
I've pretty much quit watching the Bear's except when I have nothing much else to do. Some of it is football in general pisses me off as a league but the Bear's specifically do not know how to compete. It seems to me that the Bears operate in cycles. They fire a coach and once in awhile a GM but nothing really changes. For years the problem with this team has been the offensive line and even when they have a quarterback who is mobile, he has other warts including a lousy coach who calls stupid plays and makes bad decisions. So now we are at the end of another typical Bear's failed cycle. They wasted a good to great defense and now face the reality of a screwed up rebuilding honchoed by a stupid ownership group. The Bears are a joke. They've been a joke for a long time and as long as the McCaskey family runs the team they will never get better. Never.

I agree. To me, Eloy has the greatest upside of any player on the White Sox. He is untouchable as far as I am concerned.

That's a perfectly solid plan of action that you described and I Think that you are right. I don't live in Chicago but would probably do the same if I were a ticket holder. -

Yeah and this actually COUlD turn out very well if LaRussa resigned which I think and hope he will. That would be the right thing actually. Namely LaRussa put out a statement to the effect of thanking the Sox for hiring him in spite of the mess he got himself into but deciding that for everyone's best interest he would focus on putting his life back together and straighten himself out. My pick from the onset was Alomar but I also like Bochey as well. Bochey is the more experienced guy and has won championships while Alomar is a "god" among the Spanish community and has a great knowledge of baseball and especially pitching. -

That's funny. It will be interesting how major league baseball plays this though because of its big time sponsorship from major beer and alcohol companies. Certainly they are going to get blow-back from MADD and maybe some other organizations. It is certainly is a stain on major league baseball and the White Sox in particular.I have never liked Tony LaRussa in his career. He always seemed very arrogant and pompous and when he facilitated the steroid era in baseball that was the nail in the coffin for me. He also exhibited all of the features of a fall down drunk. I wouldn't doubt it at all that he and his players probably drank during games. Hell, he allowed his players to shoot up in the clubhouse. Think he'd stop them from having a belt or two during the game? -
I hear you. I like Madrigal and sure wouldn't just give him away. What you are talking about, I think, are the kind of "grit" type players that lend a different dimension to a team. To me, Engel is another example of a guy who can do a sort of special stuff for a team and has a value that goes behind general stats.

There are so many things wrong with this that it is unbelieveable. For Reinny to do this intentionally makes me wonder if he shouldn't be banned from baseball by MLB itself. And who in the hell advises him anyway? Did they somehow think that they would get away with this and hide it from the public? Good luck with that, right? This is total crap on every front. Look, I'm no prude and I do think that alcoholism is an illness that can and should be treated. BUT. every company in the world that I know of requires its employees to obey civil and criminal rules and driving while drunk can result in deaths and injuries to innocent people. IF Reinny doesn't step in and fire him, then the commissioner of baseball needs to do it and punish Reinny for doing what he did and didn't do. -

IF they knew this, and hired him anyway, Reinny is even more screwed up than anyone thought he was. -

They have no choice but to fire him. Better that they found this out now before he really took over the team. -
I read just the other day that Vaughn was getting some work in their camp at 3RD BASE. That also is Burger's natural position. What if the do pull the trigger on Madrigal and move Moncada back to 2nd base?
-
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate that. I just want to know what the rules are and how they get established and enforced. I don't want to talk politics and wasn't when I got banned.
-
I was suspended for ten days for referring to the virus that is plaguing this country in supposedly two banned words. The banning by some poster named Quin referred to these words being a part of some banned words list for this board. Does this list exist and if so, where? I've read the policy as well as the general rules regarding posting and do not see anything in my posting as being vile, profane, racist, crude, etc. I asked a simple baseball related question about whether people thought that the virus was going to again affect whether or not it was going to mess with the 2021 season. As for the ban message there was no warning whatsoever and obviously no redress. Was this some kind of political type punishment because I opined that I enjoy singing the National Anthem in public? I want to know what gives on this site having to do with moderation and the rules to be followed. I said several times that very day I was being trolled by some people that I didn't want to engage in political nonsense and to basically bug out. Thank you and I'd appreciate a reply.

I don't think that asking input from players in regard to who you are thinking about hiring is warranted at all. However, an organization should know what the clubhouse is all about and not bring in someone who odds are will negatively impact the clubhouse. Lots of personalities in a clubhouse. Several big leaders. Some malcontents. Lots of egos. I'm not sure that Reinny gave a shit or thought enough about what his decision was going to do with his clubhouse
-
Beat it. Your tripe is annoying.
-
I merely responded to a guy talking to me. Is there some kind of private message deal on this board?
-
That's true. I think that he will. Whatever else LaRussa is, he, in Jerry's mind is a WIN NOW move. And the WIN NOW needs a couple of stud pitchers.
