  1. Cease is regressing because there is a scouting report on him and he has to adjust. Gio was bad last year but he also had Covid and changed the way he approached the off season. Are we just going to ignore 2021? Or Cease's season in 2022?
  2. Dylan Cease was the freaking Cy Young runner up last year. He had a historic season and would have won had Verlander not had such the season he had. This is crazy talk.
  3. No. Absolutley not. Look at the progress Cease made. Look at what Rodon did. Giolito. Etc. I don't think the injuries are his fault at all. That's a Hahn and the training staff. But the results and the metrics are there. The pitching staff, statistically at least, has been the best part of these last three seasons.
  4. There are many things wrong with this coaching staff. Ethan Katz isn't one of them.
  5. This is actually a solid move that quite frankly should have been done last year. I wish we had a competent coaching staff so that they could unlock the power in his game.
  6. Who are these people telling him to sleep in the clubhouse? I have sleep issues. I feel bad for whomever has it on the team as it's quite debilitating. But as someone who is in sleep therapy at the moment, the explicitly tell you not to nap during the day.
  7. Close. I believe he got a shot at redemption in a start later. In fact it may have been against the Cubs. I actually don't remember who it was but he pitched well in his start after that incident. Was traded for Everrett. In fairness, from what I remember, Rauch left because he thought he was being sent down. The odd thing about Ozzie is that as tough as he was on this and as ruthless as he was, he was restorative in his approach. He allowed guys to have second chances if they took responsibility. A similar thing happened with Marte that year.
  8. I am not in favor of them picking up the option. But I am ok with them signing him to a two year deal where they pay little money in the first year but maybe something like $10 million or so in 2025. I'm pretty sure he has to be on a team to keep his health care. Given what he has meant to the organization and also what he is going through, I am ok with this.
  9. I actually really don't like this. Simply because I think Burger had much more of a future than Moncada and I wanted to see them invest in him rather than Moncada.
  10. Caicedo is a beast. Great article too on the team.
  11. It was widely reported that Lynn was one of the few leaders on the team and someone who also showed accountability.
  12. To be honest, I'm very hesitant to judge Grifol on this just because it's clear he has been handed a bag of s%*#. This is a team that was essentially built to win this division and nothing else. And the fact that they might be able to get away with that because this division is such a s%*#-show, tells you just about everything you need to know about this team. As an Arsenal supporter, I remember the whole Arteta out thing. Granted, he had more immediate success when he won the FA Cup but his first full season was brutal. Once Arsenal committed to the project he wanted, we saw results. Granted, the results that he got hinged on the Arsenal board's willingness to spend big money to get him the players he wanted. We need a clearing out of this front office. But I'm hesitant to throw Grifol out with the bathwater just yet.
  13. Wasn't the whole reason they brought Grifol in because he was a "new age" manager who was heavily into metrics?
  14. Terrible. I still subscribe because of their soccer coverage but I believe the TIFO guys were also pushed out.
  15. His velocity is down. Also wondering if the treatment that he went through took a toll on his body. I do remember that Andrew Miller had the same chronic UCL tear and was fine. This is unknown territory though. Especially with how he is post treatment. His return from cancer was much quicker than most expected but there are so many questions. I think he'll probably be ok but in this case I understand why the Sox brought him back when they did and there is just so much that we don't understand about Liam's road back.
  16. The AQI was also above 150. They needed to rest as many as they could because playing two games in that atmosphere was not safe.
  17. New York canceled in person school tomorrow. I'm really shocked that the players aren't protesting this as this could have long term consequences on their health, especially playing in a double header.
  18. Two things can be true: Rick Hahn fucking sucks at putting together a roster and this team is easily good enough to win a crappy division. I think we are starting to see things turn around. They will get a boost with Hendriks being back. 86 wins likely wins the division this year. They are good enough to do that.
  19. I willed this Colome thing into existence just to feel relevant again.
  20. This is what actual accountability from a front office looks like. Defend your project all you want. If you are a GM or owner, you should damn well believe in what you are doing. But be accountable!
  21. Was at the game yesterday. Awful. Had to check my bag even though I had several medical devices in it and when I pointed this out, the guy was very uncooperative in helping me figure out a way to keep the bag. Also had to pay $10 for it. Nearly didn't get into the stadium because of the new barcode needed. Apparently the normal tickets that were used last year don't work. Apparently you need a special barcode. And once again, really unhelpful in trying to help me figure this out. The lines at the concessions were long as hell. It's as if the Sox are too cheap to properly staff the concessions. And the team itself on the field was lifeless after the 6th inning. I love the White Sox with all my heart and soul but this experience left me upset and angry. It wasn't this bad in the rebuild. This team actively hates it's fan base. Whatever. Arsenal have made me so happy this year that at least I have them. It's nice that their new day to day owner actually appears to give two shits about their fans. This year's Arsenal team is what the Sox were supposed to be. A dominant, swaggering, likable team that plays together. We only actually got this in 2020 and parts of 2021.
  22. In retrospect, as dumb as that move was by Moncada in the first game, it did show a passion and a fire that I hadn't seen from him before. It's probably easier to say in hindsight because we won the game but I admired his instinct even if it was wrong in the situation.
  23. I think their activity at the transfer deadline helped. But I do think the depth on this team equivocal to the 21 Sox who lost three top position players for an extended period of time.
