  1. He's likely motivated given he'll be a free agent. I think the right team would take a flyer on a guy who two years ago was in the top 10 for cy young votes.
  2. To be honst, I think we will see what this team is made of starting tonight. Yeah, the Cubs are a AAA team right now but this is the first time this year that the team is playing as close to as they were intended to be constructed all year.
  3. If he doesn't pitch an immaculate inning, he's bad. To be honest, a lot of times, the outs closers get come on hard hit balls that defense do their thing on. The base hit was actually a good pitch he made to like the best hitter on the planet at the moment. I'll take a do nothing base hit against Guerrero anytime of the week.
  4. Was in Montreal a few years ago. i thought it was ok.
  5. I think the reason Crochet was used is Hendriks wasn't available.
  6. As someone who only watched the comical closing of the roof which was straight out of Waiting for Godot, how did Carlos look? Were the 3 ks just simply a factor of Toronto's hitting approach?
  7. Right now after Kimbrel and Hendriks, Tepara is the best reliever in the Sox bullpen. I would go like this right now in a 3 game Starting Rotation: 1. Lynn (unless against the Astros in Houston) 2. Rodon 3. Giolito (Would flip Lynn and Gio against the Astros if Houston has home field advantage) 4. Cease/Keuchel - Right now, if Cease continues to pitch as well as he has and with how well Tepara has pitched out of the bullpen, I don't think there is any way you can really justify leaving him out of the rotation. But I do think I would give Keuchel a chance in September to right the ship. I do like the idea of Keuchel in a LCS as an opener for three innings and having Cease come in. Bullpen: CL: Hendriks CL/SU: Kimbrel RHP: Tepara RHP: Kopech LHP: Bummer LHP: Crochet LHP: Keuchel? LR: Lopez MU: Ruiz Right now though and was listening to the White Sox Talk Podcast, there is a very good argument about leaving Keuchel off the roster in the LDS but bringing him back on the roster in the LCS. He's much more valuable in a longer series and would probably be better starting in a longer series than in a short series.
  8. Order out of the bullpen should be Tepara, Kimbrel, Hendriks or Tepara, Hendriks, Kimbrel. They are the three best relievers.
  9. He keeps pitching like this, you have to.
  10. Lol. was about to post this haha.
  11. What if he's lights out in September and October?
  12. Interesting. Especially since Keuchel and Rodon share an agent, I think this deal gets it done with Rodon. I would prefer Rodon over Keuchel but I don't think you could get Keuchel into long relief. I do remember, what was it 2011, when the Sox starting rotation was so deep that they used 6 starters through most of the year. I wonder though if we could trade Keuchel to a team hoping to get a motivated starter in the final year of his contract, one that might be kind of rebuilding or on the verge of contention? Or one that is just desperate for pitching?
  13. Has he not earned a reputation considering he will likely join Smoltz in Cooperstown? The whole reason I think we are saying Kimbrel should maybe get the 9th, I'm not there yet, is because he's one of the best players at his position to ever play the game.
  14. Again, gave up zero runs in September 2020 on a playoff baseball team. He righted the ship September of last year. In September of 2019, his ERA ballooned because of a few really disasterous outings. He actually had a very good August posting a 1.35 ERA that month. He has said before that the long layoff was really problematic for him as he never got a rhythm going. Add to that the long layoff at the beginning of 2020, it was a recipe for disaster. He had a really good September that year for the Cubs and was lights out for them for the rest of his time there.
  15. Can Kimbrel teach my cat not to hop on my counter?
  16. 100% Madrigal tears a hamstring on that one. Sorry that was too soon.
  17. Last week everyone on this thread wanted Hendriks demoted to mop up and Kimbrel pitching the 9th.
  18. Hendriks has publicly said he is fine with pitching the 8th. He could be lying but I take him at his word. He seems to be able to pitch in whatever situation you throw him in.
  19. Hypothetically, Kimbrel pitching in in early season form in the 9th and Hendriks dominating in the 8th makes the White Sox bullpen better, no? I'm not of the opinion that the White Sox should do this. But just saying...
  20. It depends on what you look at. Dude saved 6 of 7 games. And yes walked a highwire act but also got the job done. And dude was literally putting up historic numbers through July.
