Cubbies are trashing the oufield!
No I don't.

Cubbies are trashing the oufield!
Doesn't look like much of an improvement over what the Sox have now.

Cubbies are trashing the oufield!
Just a quick shot. Dip and Stoner did mention it too.

He beat the crap out of the lineup card. I guess it was the curse of the card today. If they lose and miss the playoffs by 1 game maybe they will give it a last meal and blow it up too.

I thought that wrigley was such a shrine, how could they desecrate it like that.

Thomas opens his yap again.
Ok, whatever makes you feel better I guess.

Thomas opens his yap again.
Why come up with anything like that at all? Does it accomplish anything?

Thomas opens his yap again.
No, I remember the cross town series at the Urinal in 1999, a lot of the scrub fans were sporting T-shirts with that name. That was the first time it was mentioned.

Thomas opens his yap again.
It just riles me up when people call him Big Skirt. That name was created by the assholes on the north side and should never be spoken by a Sox fan.

Thomas opens his yap again.
He "ran to the press"? Or did the press bring the issue up? Since they couldn't fan the flames enough to get the Ozzie-Frank hatefest going, they get the whole contract thing going again. Anything to sell papers to the gullible people that will hang on every word.

Amen. A lot of people sit and wait for any little nugget of negativity they can get on him and then blast away endlessly.

Isn't that what he is doing? Sounds like all he wants to do is discuss the contract when the year is over. Is that so unreasonable that you have to spew such venom at him? Thomas was adamant in pointing out that winning the World Series this year is atop his priority list, with the hope that the club will talk to him at the end of the year about a new deal as they said they would. "Right now that's what they're saying. That's fine with me, because I'm going to go out and have a good year anyway, and then hopefully we'll talk again. My job is to pull these guys together, keep a happy face and keep this thing going for us because I have a feeling it's going to be a special year. All I'mlooking of now is a ring. All the individual stuff, I could care less about, and for the 1st time it comes from my heart when I say that. I could care less when it comes to my numbers."

Our Bullpen
Wasn't it Buerhle who gave up the lead yesterday? The bullpen pitched 4 scoreless innings.

Why the heck were we so pessimistic?
Jose is hitting .316 against lefties with a double and triple so far.

Mike Jackson hasn't given up an earned run yet this year. He is an equal replacement to what Gordon was last year. He is only a couple years older than Gordon and has a lower career ERA. I would consider him a positive in the bullpen right now. Adkins and Politte haven't looked bad at all either, and Marte will be fine.

Should they raise the terror alert level?
Maybe it needs to be set at "Oh s***" now: http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/04/16/...r.ap/index.html

Carl Everett
It would have cost a lot more than $3.5 million to keep Everett here. In order to keep him the Sox had to offer him arbitration. I would think an arbitrator would have given him a raise on his $9+ million salary last year, especially since he made the All Star team. If the Sox didn't offer arbitration to him they couldn't negotiate with him until May 1, 2004. So would it have been worth it to have Everett in CF for around $10+ millon per year? Could you imagine the b****ing right now if $10 million was being wasted on a guy sitting on the DL? Could you imagine the booing if he continued to blow routine plays in CF making that money?

O-E-O MAAAAAAGGGGGGLLLLLIIIIOOOOO!!!!
You just gave Mariotti the subject of tomorrow's column. Or, he may say they couldn't get motivated to beat the Sox with the small crowd there.
