  1. This season of futility and negative records would be bad enough if you thought that there was any chance of a phoenix rising from the flames and a competotive team would emerge for 2026 or 2027, but the reality is that once you put out the flames there will just be a paper bag of sh*t on your step.

Maybe just maybe if we can get our position players to start hitting and our pitching keeps performing we can still sneak in to a wild card...

    I'm delusional

You just know that if the position players start hitting the pitching will fall off a cliff! But we can but hope that a miracle occurs.

It's because baseball is a stop start sport and often involves going from zero to 60mph as hard as you can half a dozen times a game. This isn't exactly a new phenomenon. It's not exactly like Moncada is unique in suffering an injury related to sprinting in baseball.

Baseball may be a stop start game but other sports require sudden intense bursts when sprinting, the fact that the White Sox have lost 3 players in 2 weeks doing this suggests poor warm up and conditioning, which is either due to bad training by the coaches or the individuals or both. The fact that all 3 of these players have a history of muscle injuries suggests they are at least partly to blame.

I do think the Sox should strongly consider trading Robert once he is healthy and performing well.  Does anyone really think he will still be around by the time the rest of the team is good enough?  Sell him high with years of control.

But in all seriousness with his injury record what would 'sell him high' actually bring in? Many on here valued Cease a lot higher than he eventually went for, and Robert has shown All Star abilities but equally has missed a lot of games each season, with the exception of 2023. Is his value to other teams damaged by his injury record?

It has to be true. Its insanity that any professional sports team would allow a manager/head coach to keep their job after putting up one of the worst seasons in your franchises history when the expectation was to compete for the division.

The only thing that makes sense is JR didn't want to have to pay two managers.

It was equally insanity to appoint a manager/head coach with no previous experience of managing at MLB level, and who was overlooked by the team he was at (who were the worst in the division) for their vacant managers post when the White Sox were supposed to be in their 'competitive window' following the last rebuild.

We're all going to feel pretty silly when Pedro cooks up a new acronym and lights a fire under this team.

Most White Sox fans want a fire lit under this team to burn it to the ground!

a - I think Robert would draw plenty of interest throughout MLB.

b- I have confidence in Getz for trades

c- The Sox have made solid moves towards player development with the additions Barfield and Bannister. I will be honest, I don't have a clue about Jin Wong

What about his work as GM over this winter gives you such confidence? The Cease deal was hardly the 'massive' haul he was supposedly asking, and the team he has assembled are hardly looking good at the moment.

For the 2024 season I hope Robert jr comes back healthy and is in All Star form.  I would trade him for the best available package out there. In 2025 I want the Sox to move on from Eloy, Robert jr, and Moncada.

After 2024 Sox can buy out both Eloy and Moncada , adios, Benintendi is 3 more years unfortunately.

Vaughn is going to have to produce this year or he is out also.

    a) But would a team give up top prospects for an undoubtedly talented player but one seemingly made of glass? I know he played 145 games last season but that is the only time he has played more than a 100 in a season.

    b) Would you trust Getz to make that trade?

    c) Even if Getz gets a good haul for Robert would you trust the White Sox to develop them properly?

Unfortunately, at the moment b and c are a 'no' for me.

Just because Benintendi's contract exists doesn't mean you should sign another old player, with a reputation as a hot head (culture!!!) when you're in rebuilding mode.

Getz's moves get to be judged based on his merit, not KW/Hahn.

This team isn't in 'rebuilding mode' yet, it is still tearing down and putting in a few rickety old props to try to stop the whole house falling down.

DVS has a story out now where he spoke with Crochet who said it's time for the Sox to start getting angry.

Don't know if that will do any good or what may be going on in the clubhouse that caused Crochet to say that. (The assumption is that maybe things are to laid-back right now causing him to say that.)

You also wonder if Grifol has already lost the clubhouse.

That's if he ever 'had the clubhouse' in the first place, and from the evidence of last season that is doubtful.

  11. The only thing worse tham watching the team on the field is listening to Grifol's bull after the game trying to pretend the team is 'competing' etc.

I would much rather he just came out and said straight up that it was bad but what did you expect with this team of players, preferably followed up by announcing his resignation.
