You are stubborn. I don't know why you think our bullpen is magically going to start getting people out and why our defense is going to become adequate all of a sudden.
  2. I wonder what other teams hate the Humpydome as we do. Who else bombs in there??? -- Do you guys hate the fact we have flopped against the Central this year? Is it going to be a pattern in the future? We are going to be considered the rivals of the Twins, Royals forever. The Royals go headhunting when they play us; never against other teams. They've played us pretty close the past 2 seasons. The Twins get geeked out of their minds to embarrass us at the dome. They will want to continue the trend in the new stadium and at least will be intense in those games trying to prove it wasn't just the dome that doomed the Sox. We have had great luck vs. Detroit til this year. IMO Kenny needs to start treating our team as if we are in the East Division because these Central teams get jacked up to play us and that will not change next year or the following years to come. Are any of you bothered by the pesky teams who beat us up this year in the Central??
  3. I'd agree the young guys should play and play a lot. The veterans were the ones who flopped and went from .500 and change and two games out to crap. Pods' baserunning blunders; Dye's lousy hitting; Rios batting like he's totally overmatched; Pena, Dotel, Liney all worthless. I wish we'd immediately move Lexi to second, maybe experiment with Beckham at short, what could it hurt? Shut down all those lousy relievers and bring up kids to pitch in those roles from the minors. I would like to win games, but why not have some fun the final month to rid the taste of this horrible season which only figures to get worse with 2 more in Minnie, one at Wrigley and more of the Bosox? Why can't the team admit Lexi to ss was a failure and put him at second for the next 10 years? We can always pickup a stop gap defensive minded shortstop somewhere if they insist on keeping Gordon at 3B.

There's absolutely no reason to pitch this guy this year. Bring him to spring training ready to hopefully go. I mean he's been out so long, no reason. I'm all for holding off Cleveland, but cmon. Do it with the young guys, not Peavy, who has had a bad luck season and might get hurt again.
  5. OMG I forgot we also have to play Boston again. We truly are going to be passed by Cleveland. Ouch.
  6. No. I'd say Cleveland is licking its chops with a good chance of catching us in the standings. I can never recall a time, it's been a while since I firmly expect us to lose night in and out. That has been this road trip. Just chalk up another loss today.
  7. Great post. We aren't going to win squat again until our pitching and defense is consistent to great. Not in the AL where we stand to never get the wild card again unless we improve drastically. Our only hope year in and out will be to win the weak Central.
  8. Hopefullly he'll thrive in Colorado with a new 0-0 record. I love Jose but my gosh was he rotten this year. Horrible record, some really bad outings.
  9. He saved the Sox' butts in game 163 and made us all happy. That would have been a devastating game to lose at home. Can't understand the Dodgers picking him up to pinch hit. Jimmy will rust up in LA.
  10. This sucks cause we obviously will get nothing for him, right? Just a giveaway.
  11. Nobody's going anywhere. We are addicted. It's just that now I can watch games or check the updates and laugh, not be miserable. I mean once the realization hits that finally we are truly toast, well, you still follow the team but are not as invested emotionally. The team had its chances, many of them, and let them go by. We're done. Die hard fans are "in" all the way, but the way some approach the games changes. Right now the losses are so less painful cause the team has told me it is finished. The only question is if Minnie can surpass Detroit. How many games do the teams have left against each other??
  12. Cmon it was not just for the future. The common perception was he would push us over the top in September of THIS SEASON. I agree with you it in theory sets our rotation up for the future. In theory. But you cannot convince me KW knew we'd be out of it this year. Everybody was saying if Jake could push us over the top (with Rios) and we could win the division, we'd have a rotation capable of going far in THIS YEAR"s playoffs. I find it disheartening that you say the trade was only for the future. I don't believe that. No frickin way.
  13. Gee, White Sox, maybe you will remember this road trip in the future when you f***ing fail to win winnable games like say, those 6 against the Royals and O's at home!!! 3-3 in that stretch was a complete joke. This is what happens when you give away games so many winnable games during the season. You finally hit a stretch where you have NO CHANCE at all, which was this road trip. One road trip ... bam our season is Ova. 1-7. My prediction was 2-8. Obviously 1-9 is more likely at this point. 1-10 if you count the Cubs game. Wow.
  14. I can't say for sure of course, but don't you agree the move now looks stupid at best? The guy hasn't pitched for us, we gave up some young pitchers who might have fared better in relief roles than the scum we've put out there. The gamble was we'd be in the pennant race and he'd be the September boost we need. I hate to second guess too much but the gamble failed. We're not in the race and his presence matters not. The other guys? They might have helped. We gave up too many bodies for a guy on the DL.
  15. Firing Ozzie would be pretty stupid. You can't live in the past, but my god he led us to the world championship, which may be the only one you see in your lifetime. I think Joe Torre is the complete package of a manager, but aside from him they all are the same. Might as well keep Oz, who knows baseball and won't screw things up IF HE HAS THE PLAYERS. Nobody could win with this bullpen. And we have some big time holes, like up the middle most of the year. AJ can't throw; Pods was not a good cf when he was out there; Wise and BA were minor leaguers when they were out there; Alexei is close to a disaster at short and our second basemen are average at best. We sucked up the middle and have no bullpen. Good luck to any skipper.
  16. I don't know why a day off is always the cure all to people. Cal Ripken says days off are overrated. But if that's the cause of his s***ty at bats, give him a couple days off.
  17. There was no reason to make the Peavy trade when we did, while he was on the DL. Dumb. That's an offseason type move. Rios has simply sucked. He better get his s*** in gear. He's not hit a lick.
  18. We do indeed know what's going to happen. We never win in there even when we are hot. Now we are limping in there after getting beat down by the Yanks and Bosox and this ain't going to be pretty. I'm not saying our team has any pride, but if it did, it would do anything possible to battle in these 3 games. I mean knock down their hitters, break up double plays, do anything possible to win!!! This road trip from hell ends against a mediocre team, not a team like NY or Boston. Still I fully expect us to get swept or at the most somehow win one. It either says something about me being a bad fan or them being a bunch of p*****s.
  19. I don't understand the love for Pena. And Rios? We shall see.
  20. Very good post. KW definitely had a bad bad year as well as Oz and our players. This Rios thing really concerns me if we can't dump him in the offseason. The guy we got for Allen is awful. Horrible horrible trade. I totally agree with your post and the Peavy comment as well!
  21. I don't know how a reasonable person can say this. You know how tough it is to win a WS? Odds are pretty good you'll never see another in your lifetime. Seriously.
  22. Move Lexi back to second, get a cheap veteran ss for defensive purposes mostly. Pray Beckham starts hitting again and leave him at third. Lexi and Getz are not a playoff caliber combination. If all we have is starting pitching, we better get defense behind it. Also, Rios is a good defender, but try to trade him. He's not a good fit in Chicago. Put our best young prospects at middle reliever. I'd rather lose with youth than guys like Linebrink, Pena, Williams, Dotel. They all SUCK!!!
  23. That would be funny if we fell behind Cleveland. We truly are a team that has tanked.
  24. Yeah, Randy Williams is not so good. Add him to the list of guys that hopefully do not grace our mound next year.
  25. Excellent post; I feel this is the post of the thread. My blame: 1.) Players: Simply maddeningly bad baseball for much of the season, especially against teams in our division (this horrid roadtrip notwithstanding). 2.) KW. He's the guy who put the team together, a team with a s*** bullpen and one that started the season with many holes. Time will tell on Rios. True we gave up nothing to get him, but I'm assuming his contract will limit what we can do with other players in the future. I don't see the logic in picking up Peavy during the season. Why not in the offseason? We're so far out, his presence doesn't matter a bit. 3.) Oz. I don't blame him for putting relievers not named Thornton or Jenks or Carrasco in the game. He has to use some of those other sorry excuses for MLB pitchers, or Thornton's arm would fall off. But the team this year shows no ability to rally late in games and has lost in some of the most bizarre ways. The s***ty play of his team falls on his shoulders as well. Lots of dumb mistakes. And he's also ultimately responsible for his coaching staff and we've had some horrible decisions made by Cox. Also many on this board think there's a problem in hitting philosophy. If so, that falls on Oz as well as Walk. I'd have no problem giving Oz and KW a tie for second. The players, however, are the true goats. They've played some bad baseball this year.
