the OFFICIAL this team is really frustrating me thread
Sox players who are frustrating me to no end lately. ... I said frustrating me, not me hating them as people: Pods: The pickoffs have really hurt the club. Dye: How the hell can you go from unstoppable to nothing? That's baseball. Liney: He's gotta go in the offseason. Dotel: Please dump him for scraps in the offseason. Mark: Love you, Mark, but what is up since the perfect game? What is up? Jose: His name says it all. What is he 5-12? Rios: Off to a s***TY start at the plate in a Sox uniform. Way to give us a spark, sir. Not frustrating me: Bobby - Still doing well when we get it to him. AJ - Love the guy. Has hit all year. Beckham - He's not hit well of late, but oh well. Alexei - Really bad ss but at least he got some big hits of late, unlike say, everybody else. CQ - Doing well since coming back. Obviously Peavy should be shut down if we go 2-8 or worse on this trip. No need for him to pitch. Offseason: Revamp the bullpen again. Get rid of some of our aging slow guys. Make a GOOD trade or 2. Pray for some luck in close games next year.

Game Thread
The frustrating thing about Rios is he's had a few chances to really deliver and say, help us win a division, with a big hit. He's failed like the rest of our guys of late. The verdict is still out on Mr. 40-40 (not).

White Sox have 3 good relievers: Bobby, Thornton and Carrasco. The rest need to pack up and leave town for next year.

We supported them big time. They lost me on the 3-3 bombjob vs. the O's and KC. Still want 'em to win, but the team is a fricking joke.

Two losses down, six more to go on this 2-8 road trip. Dye indeed sucks the second half, but could we have asked Rios to maybe just maybe contribute to a win and get, let's say, a hit there?

If Freddy gives up 10 runs in 3-4 innings will he also be out of the rotation? With Mark totally s*** since perfection day our rotation is pretty iffy.

Ignore List
If this team is driving you insane, good luck with 3 more in Boston, 3 in New York and 3 certain losses back in the dome. This road trip may be our penance as fans for winning it all a few years ago. This is gonna get so ugly.

White Sox Weekend: Officially Un-Rootable
Good article. That 3-3 homestand vs. KC and the O's was truly bad bad baseball by the White Sox. I disagree on the playoffs, however. If we somehow got in, that would mean we'd played pretty good baseball. To overcome Detroit, we are far enough back, we'd have to have a pretty darn good September. But I do agree that this team is hard to root for. I have relaxed the last week finally realizing it isn't going to happen this year. If the team wants to shock me and get its head out of its ass, that much better.

Are you...
Man, I just don't know if that's the case. My memory is slipping, but haven't we basically been the same team all year? Weren't we even in first for a while? We've never been too far over .500 and never way below. A healthy Freddy? I don't think he's got much in the tank personally healthy or unhealthy. As far as changes in our lineup, Pods will be gone. Does anybody really believe Thome/Dye/Konerko will be back? I'd say one of the three maybe, probably Dye.
-
How long is Dye going be in the 3 hole?
She's definitely not hideous. As much as she's worked out in her life, I doubt she'll get fat. I didn't realize she was't even 18.

Good post. I'll always follow the team as a fan. I've been addicted a long time. But this ain't our year. I would be simply stunned if we do better than 2-8 this trip. This truly is going to be the offseason where the lineup gets altered a lot. It also will probably be an offseason where our bullpen gets reworked again. Only Thornton and Bobby are worth a s***. Carrasco is also servicable. The rest of those guys can take a hike and I hope they do.

Is Ozzie Too Complacent ?
How's Rios doing as a Sox? I haven't paid that close of attention, but it doesn't seem like he's tearing it up. He hasn't hit a dinger yet, has he?

GAME THREAD: Sox (63-61) @ Sawx (70-53), 6:10pm CT
Hope you are right, Brian. But the Red Sox need all four wins, and unlike us, will be sweep hungry at home. Detroit's winning tonight might be the start of our death knoll.

Fire and passion is sort of cliche, but the Bosox do play hard.

I'm for cutting Contreras
Pretty soon we are gonna be looking forward to next year. Team needs a lot of changes. Sox are gonna look a lot different next year. Hope KW pushes the right buttons. We need to be a .600ish team again in this league. Our only hope is to win the division each and every year with those east teams as monsters. Jose obviously is gawn; Freddie gawn; some of our plodders will be gawn this time around. We better hope Rios isn't the lazy bum he's been portrayed as. He's gonna be our cf for some time to come.

One down, nine to go. We are brutally overmatched. Anybody think this'll be the closest game of the Bosox series? Jose? Wow.

Road trip prediction poll.
Can you imagine if we'd have gone 6-0 versus KC and the Os? We'd be so pumped. But our passionless team didn't come close to that. Those of you who say sweeps are not reasonable ... look at what the Twinks did to the pissant Royals over the weekend: Swept em in KC. We should have at least won five of the six games. And we'd be so psyched. I agree on the shutting down of Peavy at least if we go 2-8 and the Tigers go 7-3 or 8-2. s*** if the Twins sweep us, they'll be barreling past us as well. Shut him down if we don't excel on this trip.

Anyone else here scared of these next 20 up and coming games?
Not scared. I just don't expect much anymore. I'm hoping but 3-3 vs. the Orioles and Royals at home? That was horrible.
-
Road trip prediction poll.
I've already predicted but as an addendum ... if we go 3-3 at home versus the Royals and O's with a lot at stake, how in the heck can anybody predict better than .500 on this trip? That stuff about playing to our competition doesn't cut it on the road. 5-5 would be a monumental miracle. 2-8 is rearing its ugly head at us.

Road trip prediction poll.
Baconator, if we sweep in Boston you get the call of the year award. It just doesn't seem remotely possible.

Road trip prediction poll.
I have a feeling the results of the poll will change if we lose today's game to the s*** O's which we could do on a Sunday day game. 1-3 in Boston. 0-3 in NY 1-2 in Minnie for 2-8. The Cub game could go either way. My real hope is SOMEHOW 2-2 in Boston (odds of that just aren't good with Boston's home record and recent destroying of Detroit; why should we do better than a good Tiger team in beantown?) 2-1 in NY (beating a team 2 of 3 after they want to kick our ass for what we did to them in the Cell is not likely; plus the Yankees are damn good, especially at home. 2-1 in Minnie (Minnie's getting it back together finally in kicking KC's ass; we don't win in the dome). That would be a miraculous 6-4 and would likely keep us breathing depending on the Tigers' 10 games. Only way we can do 6-4 is with extraordinary pitching and average defense. We're not capable of great defense, but are capable of average.

Dye is seriously slumping
Castro needs to hit today; we know Lilly won't. Can't have two automatic outs. I assume Rios is playing. We need a BIG GAME from him.

White Sox Winner !!
I agree on the Oz criticism on the Thome thing. Even I, an Oz lover, said immediately to pinch run for Jimmy. Luckily the O's bats didn't have it last night and we won a boring 4-1 game. I thought that was pretty big not to run for the plowhorse Jimmy. Thinking as to why he did that, it's pretty amazing Oz must have thought we might need Jimmy's bat in extra innings. That was interesting to me that he'd think that way.

Are the Sox done?
I don't know if Peavy will give us a morale boost. Mark's perfect game didn't give us a morale boost. The Rios acquisition didn't exactly light us on fire, though he's been OK. We've had some exciting wins where we come right back and lose. I don't think our team is capable of rah rah morale boosts. We basically need good pitching, make that great pitching the rest of the way, if Peavy gives us great pitching, awesome.

Are the Sox done?
Best case scenario on road trip: 5-5. Worst case: 2-8. Likely: 4-6 at best. That's my feeling. If that keeps us in the race ... great.
