  1. Boston beat Detroit 3 of 4 very recently in Beantown. I would not expect us to do better than that and wouldn't be shocked if we dropped all four. It's pennant race time and Boston will be ready for us as they were for the Tigers.

That is true. AJP has been pretty consistent as well. It's easy to take our own for granted.
  3. Home runs and good starting pitching and closer work. That's the victory formula we've known so long when we win games on the South Side. Jose with the shocking (to me) performance. We really needed a sweep of this homestand. We're playing two pathetic teams and allegedly are in a pennant race.

What did you say a couple nights earlier when he hit the bomb? And he won that other game recently with his bat. He's still young. Also most players round base on those pop ups that never get dropped. The third base coach should have been the goat. Anybody with half a brain knows Quentin is dead out on that play. Carlos should have reamed him behind closed doors for throwing him out to dry. We need a third base coach with a brain some year. Harold maybe???
  5. Because it would be a direct slam at his boss, KW, who provided him nothing but a guy like Wise for the roster. I'm more surprised at the Fields comment. He was supposed to be something if you read all the comments during the winter. And he's just another guy who can't hit.
  6. Freddy had a good couple innings but many of his pitches were meatballs. One more start would be fair to him.
  7. What round pick was Fields? Another waste.
  8. Can't argue with that. In a horrible division with our team seemingly having a lot of talent, we have just enough holes to make us a .500 team. I wish baseball would stop paying middle relievers five to seven million dollars a year when most of them suck.
  9. We need him and fast. Rios has been OK but hasn't exactly cured us of our .500itis.
  10. I can't argue. He will be lit up at Fenway. Ugly times ahead.
  11. Tonight's one runner was one of the worst. Just cause we led a horrific baseball team 4-1. At that point we did it in exciting fashion. Then ... nothing.
  12. I don't think it's alarmist to say we're about done. We're not going to do much on that road trip. .500 would be a miracle.
  13. That was horrible. A good 15 year old player could have thrown him out at the plate. Stupid. He had all the momentum on a shallow fly ball. s*** that play sucked!
  14. Some of us don't care that much about the Bears. Cutler doesn't make me feel better after this s*** game.
  15. The Royals suck; Cleveland sucks. Barring a miracle both beat us 2-3 in the Cell.
  16. Let the flaming begin. Can't sugarcoast that disaster.
  17. fivehundred (.500) is a dirty word to me.
  18. Things looked so promising at 4-1 at home versus a bad team.
  19. I wish our guys would just make contact. Cmon, just hit the ball and see if it can find a hole.
  20. He's hurt bad. Sad for Soria. Good pitcher.
  21. Freddy did stink, but our other starter options might have as well. He definitely didn't look like a guy capable of beating a decent team.
  22. We aren't going to beat Soria, just like we ain't going to beat Greinke (how's that for being a deb downer?)
  23. If we lose tonight (we're down 5-4 in the ninth with Soria coming in) I think this thread might get a few more responses. Detroit won tonight. We had huge crowd. It's either rally vs. Soria or look at Greinke with the series on the line. The underachieving clicks may grow tonight.
  24. I like the way Freddy pitches. Gets it and delivers fairly confidently. I just don't think he's got much, even for his return start. KC is a horrific team and he got roughed up pretty good.
  25. It was a helluva catch and might ultimately be the thing we remember most about our .500 season. He and Mark both on one night. Congrats, Mr. Wise.
