  1. Should be interesting to hear Oz's take on KW's take. Usually a GM saying underachieving means the manager is not doing his job very well, unless he's calling out the players. Oops I better ready the story in its entireity.
  2. Pods and Bobby. Nice. Sacrifice bunts are called for sometimes and do work sometimes, folks. Nice clutch hit, Pods. Linebrink must be a real headcase. Gets two easy outs then walks two guys?? Why? Thank goodness Bobby had it tonight. Losing Game One against KC would have had the whole city ready to mutiny, at least Sox fans. The boos spoke volumes against Liney. I'll take the win. KC sucks but s*** happens and we got the first one. Greinke will be very tough.
  3. This game will tell us a lot. Banny is capable of shutting us down but he's been AWFUL of late. Are we going to come out a blazing or play down to our competition again?
  4. I would agree with every word. Also with the poster who said the team is like his golf game. Two facets will be good on a given day; one bad. I think we should win this awful division, case closed. I sort of keep expecting to be six or seven out one day soon and that will be that. Hope I'm wrong. Detroit is definitely not so great and this isn't the Twins year.
  5. Exactly. This is what I was (am) trying to do in standing up for Wise in this matter.
  6. I guess you still want to discuss this. Logic 101 Your comment: Wise should absolutely NEVER bat late in a game. My comment: Wise got a walk off hit against the Yankees, obviously late in a game. Conclusion: Wise can effectively bat late in a game. His hit proved that. If that's not logic what would you call it? I'm not flaming, just curious. I think in a debate, I might win. I never said he should be allowed to bat late every time. Obviously we have better candidates to deliver a hit, on paper at least.
  7. Disappointing loss. Luckily I didn't hear anything about it until now. Sounds like our defense and relief sucked. I'm disappointed because our team is full of name players and some young studs and Oakland's team is a bunch of no names. But we did win 2-3 against them on the road in a park we usually really suck. We better win at least 2-3 from KC. Thank goodness the Royals won. 3 back in the loss column is not good with that horrid road trip coming soon; four woulda really sucked.
  8. Pirates were just what the doctor ordered to save the Cubs. Just as the Royals really helped out Detroit this weekend. We better kick the s*** out of the Royals in the games coming up and not lose 2 of 3 like we did to Cleveland.
  9. Those stats are great to see, but he's 4-11 and right now appears done. How's he done as a fourth/fifth starter in the last 3 weeks? He's toast.
  10. Hawk is the best. Stone is great as well.
  11. Great win. Why did Lexi get taken out? Were we up big when he got taken out of the game or did he get hurt? We need to sweep because Detroit figures to sweep KC which we better do as well when we play them soon in the Cell.
  12. He isn't the only announcer in baseball who moans about the umpires and other things. The Twins announcers are still moaning about the coin flip. Royals announcers here constantly mention the umps. And frankly somebody has to b**** about their HORRID strike zones. I applaud Hawk for getting on those lazy bums in blue.
  13. How's this for logic? He got the game winning hit LATE against the Yankees. The guy says he should never be up late in a game, period. That hit was recent. So LOGIC SAYS in my logic textbook that yes indeed Wise can and should be up late in games. How can my logic fail in this one? Are you serious? If I was wrong here I'd admit it. I am going by LOGIC in my argument. He got a winning hit late in a game, thus he can bat late in games. The poster said he NEVER SHOULD bat late in a game.
  14. Wow. I hope Freddy pitches for us like he did in that one game against us late last year. Wasn't he darn good for six innings or so? You think there's ANY chance Freddy can give us quality starts? If not, I think Hudson was the guy. Or the pitcher by committee thing which worked the only time we tried it with Carrasco starting.
  15. If a player knows somebody is getting the autograph to sell it, he shouldn't sign. And he should make a scene and say something to the other fans about how people like this ruin it for the real kids who want autographs for memory sake.
  16. I finally read this; wow this is a great great thread. Funny stuff especially Colon at the buffet and Todd Ritchie.
  17. Sqwert, why wouldn't I like Hawk? He's a legend and he's good? I only get the Score on my car radio out here, but I also find Rongey's handling of the callers pretty good. Some of those people are nasty. I am not only positive. I hated Swish; I don't like the ex Royals relievers we've picked up (I was wrong about Carrasco I admit it); I was down on Lilly; I didn't want Pods signed at the time; I stand up for Wise, but agree he shouldn't be playing much; I think it was STUPID to trade a decent first base prospect for a middle reliever; and I'm not crazy about letting Richard go even though I am excited about Peavy.
  18. He wants to win. A lot of pitchers have the stoic look. Rip him all you want, but I'm sure he wants to do well. I do agree it's time to try somebody else.
  19. That's not a mistake. You can learn a lot about baseball from listening to Hawk. He and Stone are awesome.
  20. I'm just trying to make a point. The guy says he should NEVER be up late in a game. He beat the f***ing Yankees. So he should be up late in a game. If he's not up late in that game we may lose it and all losses now are crucial (see the Pods pick off game). His argument seems lame to me when he's already beaten somebody good with a late hit.
  21. It might be worth a try, but in theory it's getting late to experiment. We're in a pennant race, .500ish record and all. I wouldn't mind trying it though. At worst he'll be inconsistent like a lot of our relievers.
  22. Except when we play the first place Yankees and he can line a hit to win the game. and somebody said also: Why, when everyone else on the site is in agreement on something, is there always one person who refuses to see things that are incredibly obvious? This is no shot at Reddy, but there's always that one guy who goes against the entire site for some reason that nobody understands. Uh, that's life. People see the facts and make up their own minds. It's what makes life interesting. Why should everybody read a thread and then everybody agree on the same stance??
  23. Would have been nice if KC coulda got a run for Greinke. Detroit is now gonna sweep that series so we better win the next two. Love to see Lexi mash the ball. Poor Jose. Cut him loose.
  24. This color man doesn't seem good.
