  1. I can't say for sure of course, but don't you agree the move now looks stupid at best? The guy hasn't pitched for us, we gave up some young pitchers who might have fared better in relief roles than the scum we've put out there. The gamble was we'd be in the pennant race and he'd be the September boost we need. I hate to second guess too much but the gamble failed. We're not in the race and his presence matters not. The other guys? They might have helped. We gave up too many bodies for a guy on the DL.
  2. Firing Ozzie would be pretty stupid. You can't live in the past, but my god he led us to the world championship, which may be the only one you see in your lifetime. I think Joe Torre is the complete package of a manager, but aside from him they all are the same. Might as well keep Oz, who knows baseball and won't screw things up IF HE HAS THE PLAYERS. Nobody could win with this bullpen. And we have some big time holes, like up the middle most of the year. AJ can't throw; Pods was not a good cf when he was out there; Wise and BA were minor leaguers when they were out there; Alexei is close to a disaster at short and our second basemen are average at best. We sucked up the middle and have no bullpen. Good luck to any skipper.
  3. I don't know why a day off is always the cure all to people. Cal Ripken says days off are overrated. But if that's the cause of his s***ty at bats, give him a couple days off.
  4. There was no reason to make the Peavy trade when we did, while he was on the DL. Dumb. That's an offseason type move. Rios has simply sucked. He better get his s*** in gear. He's not hit a lick.
  5. We do indeed know what's going to happen. We never win in there even when we are hot. Now we are limping in there after getting beat down by the Yanks and Bosox and this ain't going to be pretty. I'm not saying our team has any pride, but if it did, it would do anything possible to battle in these 3 games. I mean knock down their hitters, break up double plays, do anything possible to win!!! This road trip from hell ends against a mediocre team, not a team like NY or Boston. Still I fully expect us to get swept or at the most somehow win one. It either says something about me being a bad fan or them being a bunch of p*****s.
  6. I don't understand the love for Pena. And Rios? We shall see.
  7. Very good post. KW definitely had a bad bad year as well as Oz and our players. This Rios thing really concerns me if we can't dump him in the offseason. The guy we got for Allen is awful. Horrible horrible trade. I totally agree with your post and the Peavy comment as well!
  8. I don't know how a reasonable person can say this. You know how tough it is to win a WS? Odds are pretty good you'll never see another in your lifetime. Seriously.
  9. Move Lexi back to second, get a cheap veteran ss for defensive purposes mostly. Pray Beckham starts hitting again and leave him at third. Lexi and Getz are not a playoff caliber combination. If all we have is starting pitching, we better get defense behind it. Also, Rios is a good defender, but try to trade him. He's not a good fit in Chicago. Put our best young prospects at middle reliever. I'd rather lose with youth than guys like Linebrink, Pena, Williams, Dotel. They all SUCK!!!
  10. That would be funny if we fell behind Cleveland. We truly are a team that has tanked.
  11. Yeah, Randy Williams is not so good. Add him to the list of guys that hopefully do not grace our mound next year.
  12. Excellent post; I feel this is the post of the thread. My blame: 1.) Players: Simply maddeningly bad baseball for much of the season, especially against teams in our division (this horrid roadtrip notwithstanding). 2.) KW. He's the guy who put the team together, a team with a s*** bullpen and one that started the season with many holes. Time will tell on Rios. True we gave up nothing to get him, but I'm assuming his contract will limit what we can do with other players in the future. I don't see the logic in picking up Peavy during the season. Why not in the offseason? We're so far out, his presence doesn't matter a bit. 3.) Oz. I don't blame him for putting relievers not named Thornton or Jenks or Carrasco in the game. He has to use some of those other sorry excuses for MLB pitchers, or Thornton's arm would fall off. But the team this year shows no ability to rally late in games and has lost in some of the most bizarre ways. The s***ty play of his team falls on his shoulders as well. Lots of dumb mistakes. And he's also ultimately responsible for his coaching staff and we've had some horrible decisions made by Cox. Also many on this board think there's a problem in hitting philosophy. If so, that falls on Oz as well as Walk. I'd have no problem giving Oz and KW a tie for second. The players, however, are the true goats. They've played some bad baseball this year.
  13. Good to see the White Sox show some fight in Boston and NY ... not. What a joke. As expected, they go a stellar 1-6. Now comes the bloodletting in Minnesota. The question is do we get one or get swept? I'll stand by my 2-8 prediction but 1-9 is a real possibility with our lifeless crew which has one of the worst bullpens in the AL right now.
  14. I think I may have screwed up and didn't answer an email or something. Are all the leagues set? Should we have been contacted with draft info? No big deal if I'm out because I think I f***ed up.
  15. I'm beginning to wonder more and more ... why didn't we wait until the offseason to acquire this guy? Hindsight is 20/20, armchair quarterbacking sucks, but how did this help our team THIS YEAR? It didn't except get rid of two possible contributing pitchers for THIS SEASON.
  16. My Name Is Sue, by Johnny Cash. Cause our guys are a bunch of p*****s this year. No fire; no nothing except errors and bad relief pitching and maddening hitting or lack of it with runners on base. Or Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis These guys have put us through heartbreak all season or heartburn.
  17. greg775 replied to shago's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Ozzie goes, KW should as well. We have some bad baseball players on this team and his acquisitions have not helped much. They wanted Peavy to matter THIS YEAR. As it turns out we could have used Clayton and Poreda THIS YEAR considering the stiffs KW filled our bullpen with. KW is to blame, not just Ozzie.
  18. Time for a do-over. Move Lexi back to second and acquire a stopgap veteran shortstop again like we did OC two years ago. Leave Gordon at third.
  19. In the 3 innings I watched today, it was neat to hear Hawk and Stone rip our defense. They said it sucked, which it obviously does. Horrible defensive team. Bad baserunning team, though some of that is on Cox, who makes bad decisions. Why don't they move Harold to 3B coach next year??
  20. Save the "quit" talk til after this road trip. It's going to get worse. We're not going to do s*** in the dome either. We'll see starting with the Cub game if we quit. This road trip was going to be horses***. It just was.
  21. The team hasn't quit. It's just doing what you'd expect them to do at NY and Boston this time of year. Get its ass kicked. The big losses were to KC and the O's last week. That was the season.
  22. I'm out. This has 9-0 written all over it. Wow we do suck lately. I'm out to go do something productive. JUST WIN BABY
  23. It's easy to be negative lately, but Jose was throwing slop that first inning; soft slop. That does not bode well for the next time through tht order. Don't like what I saw in inning No. 1. Of course we have done nothing in 2 innings agianst their hack pitcher.
  24. I can't believe people have strong opinions on hitting/pitching coaches. You really really think sending a message will make a frickin difference? We've changed a lot of third base coaches and they are all the same. GET BETTER PLAYERS. Also, you said "I think this team is gonna go for a world series next year. I think some bold moves will be made this offseason, and I think Dye will be gonna, Jenks will be gone, Pods will be gone, and a move like trading one of Floyd/Alexai/Konerko will be made. I think he will sign a long term RF, lots of bullpen help for cheap, , and keep Kotsay to platoon with Thome at DH and play OF/1B. He will also resign Wise and trade more prospects. " This wait til next year stuff can be scary. Next year can turn into next year and the next year. I agree Kenny's moves look awfully stupid right now. We need a MUCH BETTER offseason in the personnel moves department. I see no reason to believe we'll be great next year right now.
  25. Jose is a proud competitor, he's just not very good anymore, evidenced by his horrific record. Poor Jose.
