Sox vs Twins April 3 game thread
What if Dunn has a career year hoping to get a new hefty contract somewhere? Maybe our new hitting coach is great. We're actually hitting lousy pitchers this year the way they deserve to be hit.

Sox vs Twins April 3 game thread
My expectations are so low, finally, I've not had the urge to blast anybody on the team yet or get all mad. I'm just feeling like a chump because my mlb.com appears to be not working this year and I paid 130 bucks. My work MAC isn't that old or outdated to not get me the feed. Garcia's defense in right is a little concerning tho. I hate to say it, but 2 out of 3 would be pretty OK this series (if you consider how bad the Sox were last year, etc). Are the Sox going to use all 5 starters to open the season or since there was an off day does KC have to face some of the front end of our rotation? I'd hate to see KC get to face our 4 and 5 when we can flip it back over to Sale if we want to.

MLB.Tv - Having Issues?
Yes, can anybody help me or give me some advice. I use a MacBookPro, it's not ancient by any means, and I use google chrome as the browser and all I get are the spinning circles and no game. Occasionally the game will pop up for a few seconds then it's back to the spinning circles. Last year I could watch the games. WTF. Can u advise me?

2014 MLB catch-all thread
You knew Buehrle was only going to get better and better. He's one of those guys who will be a crafty lefty into his 40s (if he wants to keep going). That arm has been magical. Here's to that golden left arm remaining strong. He's a marvel.

Ozzie returning to White Sox as team ambassador
QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 02:24 PM) You forgot the fact that he is a horrible manager No worse than Ned Yost.

Sox vs Twins April 2 game thread
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 11:33 PM) Typical Sox/Twins game - Except they traded roles. When I saw the Twins led 5-3 I figured Sox were dead and a 1-1 start to the season still wouldn't be so bad. Yet the Sox win! Great.

Watching Players The White Sox Traded Away
It depends if I loved them as White Sox I want them to do well. I want Buehrle, AJP to succeed. I don't care about Matt Thornton. I feel like I want Reed to fail cause it's gonna kill me if he gets 45 saves. He was pretty good IMO.

Konerko wants no special treatment, start on O.D.
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) Calling Konerko a bench player is not "tough." That's a matter of fact. I will say, I am not sure if those watching on TV could hear but, when De Aza was coming up in the 8th the fans started a mini "Paulie, Paulie" chant that I thought was pretty cool. The move would have made too little baseball sense though. That's funny. Wouldn't that be awesome if DeAza is the real deal, kind of like a Granderson clone (in his good days)? QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) Umm Frank Thomas. Yeah, I must admit Frank is one of my favorites as well.

Ozzie returning to White Sox as team ambassador
I didn't fall for it, but that's about the only type of job he'll be getting in baseball in the future. We've mentioned this time and again but no way a GM can risk putting "The Mouth" in a position of authority again. It's too bad Oz was too dumb to realize he might not want to run his mouth (in Miami) until he got that team in first place to stay. The Castro thing and the gay thing has ended his career in baseball (except for broadcasting, scouting).

Hahn's Impact on Lineup/Closer Role and the Deadline
Is baseball going to more platooning? Is this a closer by committee deal? Also, Is DeAza gonna play against righties and Viciedo lefties? Is Gillaspie gonna play against righties and Kepp lefties?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
I'm really happy for DeAza. He certainly passes the eye test as a baseball hitter. Hope last year's "sloppiness" was just an anomaly. Way to go, DeAza.

The Official 2014 Opening Day thread
Don't see what the Sox see in Gillaspie. But so be it. Please connect a couple times, Mr. Gillaspie. An Opening Day would be meaningless, but nice. Remember we won on Opening Day last year, too.

The Official 2014 Opening Day thread
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) Anyone who boos Dunn during intros or before his first AB is an idiot, and a bad fan. My gosh, people, booing him would be such trashiness. I despise Adam Dunn, but on Opening Day? Do you realize how f***ing cold it was in Chicago this past winter? How much snow there was and ice?? Opening Day is a day of cheering the Chicago White Sox. Yes we may lose 99 games again, but today it's a fresh start. Only a complete f***ing moron would boo Adam Dunn on Opening Day. And that comes from an Adam Dunn hater. Today is a fresh start. If you are a Sox fan you have to believe Adam Dunn is about to have a great final season in a Sox uniform. For one day at least, he should be cheered loudly. It is Opening Day!! The best day of the calendar year (when it's not a rainout).

Konerko wants no special treatment, start on O.D.
QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 08:07 AM) But Jeter is a starter, Konerko is a bench player. I just hope he wasn't implying Konerko should get the attention Jeter is going to get. Geez, tough crowd. In the great city of Chicago, Konerko should get all the attention in the world. He and Buehrle are my favorite Sox of all time.

Beckham, Keppinger to DL
This is Semien's chance to please many of us and make Beckham just a bad memory. Please, please Semien don't pull a Flowers/Phegley. Hit the ball and steal the job from Beckham so we can trade him upon his return from the DL. Cmon Semien it's your chance to be a big leaguer for the next 10 years. Just hit the fricking ball, find some holes in the defense, and draw a lot of walks, too.

Tigers extend Cabrera 10 years, $300 million
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) I don't know, Greg. You could probably go and sit in the lower bowl for $30. It is hilarious that you say baseball wasn't supposed to be elitist but you are too elite to sit in the upper deck though. The UD at the Cell a few rows back behind home plate are some of the best seats in the house in my opinion. Nobody is forcing you to go to games though. That's why I hate the argument. If it's too expensive, don't go. The games are on television. But I like to go. I just don't like the elitist hit on the wallet. Last year I paid 48 bucks for a ticket and 10 for parking (Royals have cheap parking) to see the Sox-Royals and Paulie didn't even play. That sucked.

Tigers extend Cabrera 10 years, $300 million
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 05:45 AM) God I hate when people complain about ticket prices. I saw Chris Sale pitch 13 rows behind home plate last year and it cost me $18. Use the secondary market for tickets. Also, as bad as baseball contracts seem, baseball players still get a smaller portion of the overall revenue than football, basketball, or hockey players. It doesn't even matter. Detroit's tv deal is up in two years and then they sign a new one and Cabrera's deal won't even matter. That's how much revenue these teams are making. Look, I'm just saying baseball wasn't designed to be an elitist sport. You disagree? I don't and won't sit in upper tank. I'm a box seat guy. So what will a game cost me on the secondary market?

Tigers extend Cabrera 10 years, $300 million
I just don't understand baseball's need to give a contract like this. 10 years is just flat out stupid. I mean in 4 years (which is a long time) he might have a bad back or something and be DONE. It's just unnecessary to pay this kind of money to a fricking baseball player. Baseball players would play for a million a year if they had to. For the most part, they are not rocket scientists. Baseball owners slay me. Some of you don't remember the day you could actually go to a baseball game and park for a couple of bucks instead of 25-50 bucks and didn't need to shell out 59 bucks for a halfway decent seat for a meaningless April game. Baseball was never meant to be an elitist sport as it has become. Ridiculous. I guess the team gets to purchase insurance in case he can't ever play again after a serious injury; I'm assuming they at least will do that.

3/28 at Birmingham
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 02:27 AM) If the mental mistakes are behind him...and he's more comfortable in LF...then suddenly you have a guy whose OPS and decent speed is welcome on this team. 2-something WAR players sadly are hard to come by for CWS. I kind of liked DeAza's many 2-for-5s last year. Hated all the miscues we've talked about to death. I'd trade Viciedo now for a No. 2, 3 starter and keep DeAza.

White Sox vs Reds @ 3 PM
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 08:33 PM) Stone's right - the D has been pretty bad this spring. I won't be able to stand it if the Sox defense sucks again this year. The team knew it was a major problem. Some heads have to roll if the Sox kick it all over the field and finish last.

Starting Rotation
Why are the Sox so high on Paulino? Baffles me.

How much $$ will we get for Dunn when we inevitably trade hi
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 01:14 AM) It's likely to get ugly, early, for him at the Cell if he starts slowly. No one will enjoy that. Damn. Just bench Dunn. Bring Davidson up. Let him bat!
