QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:58 AM) Meanwhile, Cabrera and Fielder are coming up in the top of the 9th at TEX. Without Konerko, with Dunn still MIA....the Tigers just have a huge advantage with those 2 monsters, no matter how good and clutch AJ, YOUK and Rios have been this year for us. It should be a fierce wild card race to the end. Considering the Sox still have a lot of games left vs. KC and Minnie, you'd think it'd be advantage White Sox, but ...

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:54 AM) We'll never get rid of Thronton though, because he's a veteran. We need veteran arms in the pen, or thats what people keep telling me. Everybody was trying to think of a nickname for all the rookie pitchers just a month ago when I went to the 14-inning game in KC. Our veteran relievers have been unreliable since Joe Morgan opened his mouth how many seasons ago?

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) Deserved to lose that one. Need to go 6-2 the next 8. No more bulls***. I think Oakland deserved to lose that one as well. Sox bailed out the A's. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) How's it Crain's fault ADA misplayed that fly ball? As for Alexei, he was hitting exactly .500 this season with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. I didn't want another hit from Lexi in that situation. I wanted a simple fly ball. Is it too much to ask for him to not hit into a made-to-order DP? It wouldn't have been close at first had the 3B not bobbled. I don't know what you are talking about DeAza. I'd have to see the replay because all I saw on my computer was a rocket that got stuck in the wall.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:50 AM) Will you stop with the "x stinks" please? You said the following people stink tonight: - Crain and his almost 2 ERA - Alexei and his .354 average with RISP - Balfour and his 2.67 ERA. Balfour has a career ERA of 3.45, which is better than the "Great" Bobby Jenks and "the worst decision ever" Mark Buehrle All Lexi had to do was get the run in. It's his job. He failed. Balfour had nothing out there. Nothing. He was lobbing it up there. Dispute that. Crain got lucky that ball got stuck in the wall. Yes he STUNK. Need I go on??? And yes I wish Mark was still a Sox and Bobby was productive til he ate himself out of the game.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:49 AM) liriano and Thornton will almost always put this team in a position to lose, Thornton has no value now, none I almost forgot about Liriano's awful outing. Is he a relief pitcher in the making? All those strikeouts early? Horrible outing.
-
Terrible terrible loss. Thanks to Lexi for not hitting a simple sac fly and giving us a two-run lead. Thanks Thornton for continuing to suck. Give the money back, Matt. You are NOT a good relief pitcher.
-
Balfour stinks. There I said it. Rios with a bad bad K.
-
Damn, Dunn. One out.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:37 AM) This feels like the US women's volleyball game against BRA. We had all the momentum in the world until Ramirez hit into that double play and then we just got steamrolled (largely our own doing)...too many mistakes from the manager, bullpen and defense to make up for. Oakland's actually stranded 13 runners in this game, and only retired in order in the 1st and 6th. Where's Orlando Cabrera when we need him to face Balfour, lol? Lexi pretty much cost us this game. The two-run lead would have been HUGE. Horrible at bat. Just godawful.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:35 AM) Scary thing is this is another "game finished" for Myers. Uh oh. That is scary. Show that hot mother dancing in the aisle again please, cameraman.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:32 AM) This is kind of scary, between facing Bartolo Colon tomorrow and then going to Toronto, where we have NEVER played well... Defense letting the White Sox down again. Ramirez against Cespedes. Rios playing that into a double. Youkilis not calling off Flowers and helping him out. On paper, with our RS/RA average, we should be 15-17 games over .500. Defense costs the White Sox another run there. I hate four-game series on the road. You'd have to think Sox will lose 3 of 4. A split would be good. First place is gonna be leaving our grasp soon if we lose again Sunday. Is the KC rain coming your way? I'd take a rain out on Sunday right now. I'd rather have Sale pitch in Toronto.
-
9-7 ... you gotta be kidding me. Bad loss barring some sort of ninth inning magic miracle. Horrible loss. Kudos to Humber though.
-
I'm glad we won last night. This reminds me of most series against KC where we gonna be lucky that we got one game.
-
What a horrible at bat by Beckham. He pops up a lot.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:21 AM) If this score holds, Thornton will be tied for 2nd on the team in losses and tied for the most losses of any reliever in the majors. He should give some of his money back like Bob Knight that one year at Texas Tech. He's not worth anything but major league minimum money.
-
Tank annoys me when he makes outs. Yes! Hit by pitch. Man on first, one out.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:17 AM) Just like that Thornton and Ventura give away the lead Myers didn't exactly look like Mariano Rivera.
-
I know the Sox have shown resiliency a lot of times this year, but I really hope they don't just have six lousy at bats the rest of the way. Cmon Sox ... make all six outs count and try to take the lead one final time!!! Man ... s***ty relief pitching tonight cept for Crain and he gave up the deep one that got stuck in the wall.
-
When Sox took the one-run lead I thought to myself, 'Can the Sox just close this thing out? Two lousy innings of relief?' Why is it never easy, or rarely easy?
-
If Oakland scores again this inning that is really gonna piss me off. Are we gonna piss this game away after the good comeback?
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:10 AM) Matt needs to understand that he should use his fastball to set up his breaking ball. Not the other way around. He had a clue last night with the right pitch selection. Two days in a row is too much for him.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) Yep, could see it coming. Should have been Myers in to face Gomes. He made it look so easy, like he knew he was going to hit Thornton over the fence. Kind of like AJ's base hit.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) Gomes is scary match-up vs Thornton Yeah, you called it. Matt is a headcase.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:05 AM) Isn't he leading the world in hitting with RISP? How can he lead the world in anything with his batting average near .250? Oops. Tyler drops the pop. Yuk.
-
Hope Matt has another good outing in him with the breaking ball.
