  1. Royals have lost 4 of 6 since sweeping the Sox. Pitching has reverted back to s*** and the team is playing bad baseball again with Escobar today making a big error. Team couldn't hit the ball in the Tampa series, either. Butler, Mr. Fastball hitter, struck out four times today, including his last at bat on a fastball. A lousy Boston team completes the series with three wins in four tries barely breaking a sweat.
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 03:48 AM) His bat is looking shorter and quicker every time he plays. Granted Millwood isn't overpowering but I liked what I saw today. I'd like to see a list of the pitchers he has hit this year. So what would you do next year Greg? Can they both stay, happy to go for back to back titles? I think if AJ signs a two-year deal we should trade Flowers and give him a chance to start somewhere. Of course at AJ's age, injury is a possibility and Tyler would be great insurance. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 05:04 AM) he hits two home runs. greg declares him a good player. no news here. Wrong. I am not knee jerk as evidenced as my unpopular stances on certain players. I just have been impressed with a lot of his at bats this year. I think given 300-500 at bats, you'd probably see some good production. And he's very good defensively. I think you have me confused with somebody else, Reddy. I am not knee jerk in my opinions on players.
  3. Folks, Tyler Flowers has proven to me he can play in the big leagues. With limited at bats, he's still managed to pop six home runs and he's good on defense. It's not his fault he's blocked by the great AJP. Sad thing is AJP figures to sign another 2 year deal with the Sox, blocking Tyler further. This is not a rip of AJP. I want AJ to stay. I just want to see if you agree with me ... Tyler Flowers is a big-league catcher. He is not a bust.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 01:38 AM) Team of destiny. It doesn't have that feel yet. We can't get swept by Detroit again. I guess at this point I'd take 1-2 in that series and only lose a game to them.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Hope Hector but betting Humber. Please no Humber. He simply can't beat a team like the Tigers. He'll get crushed. Hector might as well but he just might keep us in the game.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Gregs opinion if played out. Marlins 162-0, Magical unbeaten playoff run, ozzie crowned Supreme lord leader of all baseball. Robin Ventura, Don Cooper and Kenny Williams dressed as clowns, paraded around US Cellular field every gameday I think most regulars on the board know I like Robin and have supported him all the way.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) They are winning 4-2? (And playing a 4-game series) They'll lose today IMO and that will be 2 of 3 heading into monday.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) That, and they had the talent to acquire Cabrera at the same time when we didn't. But yeah, to have the ability to compete all year without Victor Martinez is impressive. Dirks and Berry have really risen to the occasion, along with Austin Jackson. You can argue they have four superstar players and Scherzer definitely has the ability to be one (3 ERA in his last 14 starts, leading MLB in K's). It's going to be humbling to have them beat us head to head and take the division. Our only hope is if our starting pitching man's up and dominates (we have good starting pitching, not dominant aside from Sale) their lineup and Dunn, Paulie and Youk and AJ decide they want to win a WS this year and kick major ass vs. the Tabbies (and Royals). KC by the way is about to lose 2 of 3 for its second straight series since kicking our ass. Guthrie got brutalized in his last start.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) I'm not sure that Greinke is awful, but he hasn't been as good as advertised, that's for sure. No pitchers are worth the huge money deals they get. They all break down eventually unless their name is Buehrle. Three year deals should be the MAX for pitchers not name Buehrle and Moyer.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) So much for that Angels/Tigers game. 4-1. back to back Fielder and D. Young homers. Let's face it guys. Detroit bought itself a pennant. If we somehow win this division, Robin is manager of the century and some folks in the game threads will own him a case of beer.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) Only thing bad about his rant is how he kept repeating the same words over and over. I guess when the talentless hack isnt reading from a script, he cant come up with good material. His ego has turned himself into a character. Talentless hack? I think you are referring to most of the umpires in baseball today. Why call Hawk a name like that? Bush league. That talentless hack has made it in baseball 50 years. Not bad.
  12. Grace might have to do some time. I realize it's not what you know, it's who you know, but some states are getting tough on multiple DUI offenders. At the very least he'll have his license taken away automatically and if he's caught driving again he'll be going to jail.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Hmmm. I'm going to take the idea and run with it that these accusations are false. This lends and interesting, scary conversation for us to discuss... are kids (let's say if the coach benches them or calls them out or whatever) going to start "crying rape" due to the mega-coverage of the Sandusky affair? I hope not, but, um, maybe. I'm sure some kids will do that. Just like some kids probably turn in the old busdriver who didn't do anything but drive the bus. Hopefully people won't rush to judgment, but it's easy to rush to judgment cause who ever would think a kid would lie about something that serious??? QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 11:16 PM) The mom asked the kid incredibly leading questions. She's a f***ing moron and should see jail time. No argument here. You can't swing a baseball bat at a guy's head until you are sure he committed the crime. Even then you still are going to go to jail for putting the law in your own hands.
  14. I hope the Sox have a new song for this postseason if the team makes it to the postseason. People accuse me of living in the past with Jenks, Ozzie, Pods, Dye, Crede, Buehrle, etc., but even I want a new song, a new theme to the postseason. How bout "Fly Robin Fly?"
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:30 AM) The point is that Seager's a FASTBALL hitter. Needs to trust or at least use his slider more often than he has been. True, but that's all second guessing. What about the leadoff hitter, the lefty, he blew away for strike three with a fastball. I think he knew he had 2 runs to work with and the home run actually was not that big a deal in that situation. Two out homer with nobody on base. He coulda popped up that heater as well or flew out to deep center. The broken bat single is what made it really interesting. True, a single is a single, but that was really really bad luck for Reed. p.s. What is a fastball hitter?? Who in baseball isn't a fastball hitter? If it's fast enough ... they still miss it.
  16. Why do we have to go to Detroit for a second series in a row? That's bulls***. Usually it flip flops home parks.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:25 AM) Sox win 5-4.........................Reed really struggling right now. I don't know about that. He had 2 runs to work with. He may have f***ed my fantasy team ERA, but he got the save with room to spare. The second base hit was a broken bat single. That's not struggling. The home run? He had a two run lead and nobody on base. He threw a meaty fastball that got crushed. But no harm, no foul, except to my fantasy team. He did OK IMO.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) In Chi I think That's huge. We need some revenge on them for that sweep.
  19. So far so good. Is that next series against Detroit in Detroit? I thought the last series Sox had against Detroit was in Motown. Usually it flip flops.
  20. No doubt the Sox have a good team this year, but there's no way of telling if it'll be a magical season. The division race is way too close to call (games against Det. and KC the key?) and if we do have to settle for the wild card, there's absolutely no way of telling how we'll do in that game. If we can get into the real playoffs, a real series, that's when we have a chance finally to go on a magical run. I'd feel confident if we ever get to that point and have Sale pitching Game One in the first real playoff series. We'd have a fighting chance cause Sale, Liriano, Peavy and Floyd ON PAPER is a good playoff rotation.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 05:49 AM) Just got back from the game. Wow is about all I can say. Ventura tried to manage that game away. Reed faced all lefties it seemed like and he did not warm until Veal came in. Both Dunn and Konerko's balls looked like they were gone. Pulled a rabbit out of our ass tonight but it is All Good. Did many fans leave in the top of the ninth or is that a Kansas City thing and a Dodgers thing?
  22. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 04:19 AM) I don't know if I'm more upset or happy. Cause 6 runs in the ninth is kinda unacceptable I'm happy cause I didn't see a second of the 6-run implosion. Yes, it's all about me normally.
