You Oz haters sound like Kansas fans who hate Roy Williams for leaving for North Carolina. All he did at Kansas was win, just as Oz won in Chicago. Don't.Get.It.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 06:01 AM) If it's at the cell I'd definitely be there and would get great pleasure in booing that asshole out of the stadium. Can you PLEASE enlighten me why you would boo the manager of our only WS title team in a zillion years (provided we don't win it this year)? You don't think the nation would think Sox fans are ungrateful animals?
-
That was a pretty exciting game with all the homers.
-
I will be sad if Sox fans boo Ozzie. Hopefully the games will be in Miami. Although I could see some rabid fans going to razz Ozzie. Just cheer him, folks, and we'll all be happy. Stay classy. If Ozzie gets booed heavily Chicago will be the laughingstock of the nation. You'd be booing a man who engineered the city's first WS title since what, 1917? It would be the biggest "what?" moment for the nation perhaps in the history of sports. Booing the man who helped us win the rarest of rarities, a WS title. I guess my reasoning could change if Sox win the WS this year, but that's the only way it would not be a total embarrassment to the great city of Chicago.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:50 AM) Wait, I thought the season was over and that crying/whining was in I don't think you should blast Sox fans for being utterly mad/embarrassed by the losses to KC. Like somebody said, those are games you win and EXPAND the division lead. If we lose 5 or 6 more vs. KC we will not win the division. KC will be the reason we didn't make the playoffs. We have the right to be mad about that. I got a lot of texts from rational Sox fans I know who can't take the losses vs. KC anymore. They were furious. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:36 AM) Well, possibly the best way I can phrase it is that Robin, especially with the bullpen, has been making decisions counter to ones that would seem to lead to the best chance of success for the ballclub. Yes, it's the pitcher's job to get whoever out. But it's the manager's job to utilize the bullpen in a way of making sure that happens. Leaving Santiago in for 75 pitches probably wasn't the best way to do that, for example. Possibly true. What I've basically noticed is most of the second guessers on here pretty much want 5-7 pitchers used every game. At the start of trouble they want the starter pulled, normally by the fifth inning, certainly by 5 1/3 innings. Then after that it's a clusterfrick of criticisms mostly regarding matchups. The second guessers pretty much want 5-6 pitchers a night. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:28 AM) Let's say that Robin batted Hudson cleanup in the next series vs Detroit and he struck out 6 times in that series with the bases loaded, causing us to get swept. Would you still blame the players for failing and not the questionable managerial decision? That's truly not a fair question. If Robin did that, I'd think Robin was a clown and yes I'd criticize him. Robin has shown me enough that I realize he's not a Bevington. He makes decisions re. his relievers comparable to other managers' (see Boone Logan vs. Lexi with a man on base ... HR) decisions. Robin doesn't make clown decisions like batting Huddy cleanup. He makes reasonable bullpen decisions. If his pitchers would do the f***ing job once in a while post Joe Morgan we might win the damn division. -

Man that was a great at bat by Lexi. Excellent hitting. He crushed it. If the Sox played like this, they'd have swept KC last weekend. Never say die tonight. Instead of just give up vs. KC. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:17 AM) Sometimes it's simpler than that. When your long reliever has set a career high total for pitches and gives up a homer and then walks someone, you bring in your LOOGY to face their best lefty (especially when that long reliever is awful against lefties). I can buy that. I'm just saying this board is too predictable from the 6th inning on ... total second guessing of Robin and Coop when the PITCHERS fail. I do hear what you are saying and you make a good point. But it's not rocket science. Robin goes with the roster he has. And he has some ultra crap relief pitchers to throw in there. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:08 AM) You seriously come off as completely clueless. You have a guy in the pen who's only job is to get lefty's out and you keep him in to face a righty and get burned....it's your fault as a manager. When a guy fails in particular situations at a very high clip then you don't put him in that situation. Why is this so hard to understand? You act like you know more than Robin Ventura and Cooper. A lot of you act this way. Let me tell you something: You do not know more than them. It's up to the pitchers to do the job. Some of these guys shouldn't be in the big leagues to begin with. Robin is working with what he's got. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:08 AM) The manager puts his players in a position to fail or succeed. When you put a player in a situation where he's not likely to succeed, you can't blame it all on the player. I blame most of it on the player. It makes me feel better. I'm not a second-guesser. The players have the ball in their hands. They are the ones who fail. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 04:09 AM) Exactly. The guy was tired obviously. Walked 2 straight batters. But hey, keep him in there. Especially when the hitter batting hits lefties better than righties. Yeah, the manager deserves no blame at all. I feel the player deserves much more of the blame. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:27 AM) When there was something to be positive about. Which just wasn't the case from 2009-2011. I am very proud of this team this year. I had them losing 90-95 games this year. Nice post. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:54 AM) Robin and his staff seriously needs to take a deeper look into splits and statistical analysis. Some of the decisions he's made are awful. This is why I advocated a guy like Dave Martinez during the off-season. Many here did. Guys from the Scoscia and Maddon school of coaching know what they're doing on the field. Robin's shown he is a great off the field manager, but his on the field tactics need A LOT of work. This is the same situation we were in with Ozzie earlier in his career, until Ozzie decided to not give a s*** and become a huge douche. You guys are crazy second guessing all this managerial stuff. At some point you blame the s***ty pitchers for not getting the job done. At least I do ... why blame the fricking manager? He's not throwing meat up there and walking TONS of hitters. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) If you're a player Soxtalk HASN'T said its time to move away from, you are in a huge minority. I still think Beckham will hit. He's had some stretches where he's been good, he's also been awful and he's been unlucky. 2010 was a bad year overall, but he was really good the second have before he broke his thumb. Its all in his mind. The talent is there, the frustration IMO keeps him from busting out. I'd keep him around at least one more year. His glove alone has saved the Sox some games. His pop ups are so annoying. If he'd have smashed a hit against the Royals to break that 2-2 tie maybe we'd have won that game? Scratch that, Royals still would have won, but you never know. I'd stick him ninth in the order and never move him, ever, and let him be our second baseman the next 10 years. The man cannot hit, so HE MUST BAT NINTH!!!! Even if he gets hot like he does twice a season, keep him ninth.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 12:52 AM) Of course Tampa will, I mean they are 0-3 on the season against KC already. Royals traditionally go in the tank immediately after beating up on the White Sox. I'd expect their starters to start getting shelled again. Althought before this latest beatdown, to the Sox defense the Royals have been "hot." KC has a ridiculously bad baseball team, however, as well all know and for a contender like the White sox to drop three more to KC, that's inexcusable. I mean we're 4-8 against them? Should be interesting to see if the Sox rebound vs. the Yankees.
-
It's a shame this glorious season is being ruined by the Kansas City f***ing Royals. What a joke.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) BTW, can we delete that relief pitching thread? I've never been confident in the likes of Crain, Thornton, Myers. I know they've been OK by today's relief standards but I never have understood threads like that one. Our bullpen has been OK to blah since Joe Morgan's statement a few seasons ago.
-
The White Sox should be ashamed of themselves. You cannot just write this off. Contenders beat pretenders. My god, to lose all 3??? Really? After losing 2 of 3 to them in the Cell? Where's the pride? If Betancourt had been released earlier, KC would have swept us in that last series in Kauffman as well. Congrats White Sox. What a joke. Too bad it wasn't a four-game series and we coulda lost to Hochevar too.
-
Somebody was saying Youk was hitting under .200 in the last 30 games?? Wonder where he'll be playing next year. Who's gonna pay the freight? It won't be the White Sox. We'll be back to Morel and pray for no back injury.
-
Caufield said: "And then Greg, instead of Ozzie topics, will be repeating how the Royals kept us out of the playoffs. At least he's happy I bet with Wise back." I won't have to repeat it. Everybody will see it IS the reason we didn't make the playoffs. I figure KC will win six of the final seven vs. the Sox. It should be a huge advantage we play them so many times. But nooo ... KC has the Sox number. It is embarrassing how bad the Sox play against KC. Butler, Escobar, Gordon ... their starting pitchers all are having so much fun when the Sox are the foe. Do you realize the Royals play well against NOBODY??? This is an utter disgrace. My gawd.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 04:42 AM) Until this team proves otherwise I consider their record 65-61. That eight additional automatic losses to KC as far as I'm concerned. Which puts them behind Detroit. The Royals flat out play well only against a couple teams in baseball. They get up for games against the Sox and beat us like a drum. I don't know how we can stop it. Like somebody said, they throw offspeed s*** to our hitters on strikeout pitches and we lose, lose lose. It was obvious we were going to lose at least 2 of 3 to KC since just recently KC won 2 of 3 again in the Cell.
-
I'm actually in Chicago and the Sox are in KC. Damn. Family party tonight so I didn't follow the game at all. Normally I'd be incensed but I'm getting used to KC beating us. Damn.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 05:19 PM) Its why reporters turned him into the villain in his contract hunt, and never mentioned that guys like the Jeff Cox who got screwed out of employment by staying "loyal to Ozzie". I thought only Cowley did that in the paper and I did that on here. I didn't sense it was a consensus.
-
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 01:32 AM) The quicker we get out of this s***box ballpark the better, its been grating on 2 of my 5 senses. The ballpark sucks, but at least it's empty and we are still winning. Savor it. It's not often Sox win 3 of 4 in that ballpark.
-
The Sox just have to be headed to the playoffs. I mean the team winning 3 of 4 in ... Toronto??? It has to be a special year for that to happen. On another note ... forgive the Sox if they get shut out Friday. What genius has them playing a night game in Toronto then having to fly to KC?. Sox will be lucky to be in bed by 3 a.m.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Cooper is so damn grumpy. His morning interviews with M+H suck hard Do they ever call him on it? Isn't he on pretty often? They could have some fun with him I'd think calling him on his bad moods.
