Sox @ Angels 5/17 game thread
Dunn picks up Beckham with a nice base hit after an epic fail by Gordon.

7-15 in the last 22
If he trades Konerko, he better get something good for him. If we still had Mark and Gio, think how good our rotation would be!!

Buehrle and Gio won again tonight. Yikes. What an organization we got.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 17, 2012 -> 04:43 AM) We don't blow, we're just not a very good, well rounded team. I knew that going into the year. I try to not get so fatalistic for every game. Give it a try. We sucked tonight, but at least Viciedo and Konerko had great nights. It's called the bright side, man. Generally the Sox do have a bright side most games. Some facet of the game blows, however, and more often than not gives us yet another L. Tonight, Floyd sucked as well as the lumber.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) It is amazing how many young Sox hitters take HUGE steps back in their 2nd season. Maybe it's the curse of Mike Caruso, as we've seen this with Fields and Beckham also. At least we can't blame Greg Walker for this (and yes, that's sincere and not sarcasm). It would be nice to put Dayan at third and Fuko in leftfield the rest of the season. Why the heck not? I mean as you have said a million times, the team is going nowhere. Morel is simply horrible. Who cares if Dayan boots some grounders at this point? The renewed offense might spark the team. If Dayan is a total sieve at third, change it back after a week.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 17, 2012 -> 04:37 AM) You're a breath of fresh air. Anyway, I'm one of the biggest homers you'll ever find and even I'm ready for the Brent Morel era to die...forever. Please, KW, as a parting shot, don't f*** up the deadline trades. This team really blows. It's just too hard to stay positive. I still watch because I love baseball and am only interested in the White Sox basically. The Royals intrigue me, but that team blows, as well. Plus I have no lifelong interest in that team.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
We're not gonna beat a team like the Angels on the road at this stage of the season. Not gonna happen. Sox really starting to stink. Sad.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
Rios almost hit a home run.
-
GT: White Sox @ Angels
Now we're starting to suck on the road, too. Bummer.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
Now that Tank is hitting, he may have to play in Wrigley one of the games or two. His bat is red hot.
-
GT: White Sox @ Angels
Tank has been red hot since I gave up on him. Beckham has remained kind of cold since I gave up on him.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 17, 2012 -> 03:14 AM) We've been waiting all year to feel a little bit of confidence in the line-up during the course of a game...now we have to cringe everytime our pitchers take the mound. 33 runs allowed in the last 4+ games. Sox have one of those teams where it's always something. That's why we're .500ish.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) The way he plays defense, you could deal Gordo for some sort of prospect. I keep thinking of Josh Fields when I think of Beckham now. He still has 2-3 teams to go before baseball will give up on Beckham. Fields lasted a long time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Megabust Gordon Beckham career OPS .694. The new and improved Alex Rios current 2012 OPS .713. I think I'll become a good White Sox fan again the day Alex Rios is finally an ex-Sox.

Adam Dunn lead off question?
It'd be nice if he could do that, but he'd probably have to work on it quite a bit. Like you said, it's not his job to do anything but hit bombs so it's probably not a great idea. I'd rather just see him smash some hits oppo field. It doesn't just have to be a bunt.

Will Ohman
He stinks but there are a lot of similar pitchers in baseball. Look at Dotel. He stinks. Every team has some guys who suck in the pen.

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2012 -> 02:15 AM) So mcgrad went to Mt. Carmel, but his "spiritual education" doesn't seem to have rubbed off on him positively? I went to Brother Rice, which is on the South Side and am a lifelong White Sox fan, but I'm a troll. The brothers could hit you back in the day and I witnessed quite a few whacks to the head.

QUOTE (59th street @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) Balta: I have been an almost daily reader of this and other White Sox sites for many years. I just do not post frequently; but believe me I have my opinions about ALL of you based on long time observations . Peace and GO SOX! It did not look like a home run off the bat, but looked like yes, there was a chance it could carry out or hit the wall. That better?

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) this team rolled over and played dead if they spit up a lead last year. They had no heart. Paulie and AJ quit? No way. They played for Ozzie as they played to the end today with hits in the ninth. This team coughed away a 6-0 lead at home today. Utter failure by the team.

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:12 PM) Hit it too high. RF'er had it all the way. It was a good effort, but no, it didn't look gone right off the bat. It looked interesting, like it had a shot, but no reason to get too excited off the bat.

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) The last four innings sucked, but I will say this team has some spunk. They are never dead. Last years team would have quit in the sixth. I disagree. AJ and Paulie never quit. They were instrumental in the "rally" today as they were under Ozzie.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) He hasn't hit a fastball hard in a while but he hit to the opposite field very much in the minor leagues, it was even a gripe. I'd say he might realize that looking to the opposite field won't hurt his power numbers seeing as he just nicked that thing to the RF fence I can buy that. I thought you were implying the at bat was some sort of monumental success. Your reasoning makes sense.

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) LOL, defense comes first from your second baseman unless he's a big bat Says who? Second basemen are a dime a dozen in baseball. You can always find a second baseman with the production of a Beckham/Getz. That's why I'm saying they are the same guy.

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) Can't believe that didn't go I have to wonder if this might motivate Dayan to actually try to take fastballs to the opposite field in the future Why would a fly out motivate Tank to go to right field more? Nice couple games in a row from Tank, however. At least he's hitting now.
