  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) The last four innings sucked, but I will say this team has some spunk. They are never dead. Last years team would have quit in the sixth. I disagree. AJ and Paulie never quit. They were instrumental in the "rally" today as they were under Ozzie.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) He hasn't hit a fastball hard in a while but he hit to the opposite field very much in the minor leagues, it was even a gripe. I'd say he might realize that looking to the opposite field won't hurt his power numbers seeing as he just nicked that thing to the RF fence I can buy that. I thought you were implying the at bat was some sort of monumental success. Your reasoning makes sense.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) LOL, defense comes first from your second baseman unless he's a big bat Says who? Second basemen are a dime a dozen in baseball. You can always find a second baseman with the production of a Beckham/Getz. That's why I'm saying they are the same guy.
  4. QUOTE (59th street @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:58 PM) go away. No.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) Can't believe that didn't go I have to wonder if this might motivate Dayan to actually try to take fastballs to the opposite field in the future Why would a fly out motivate Tank to go to right field more? Nice couple games in a row from Tank, however. At least he's hitting now.
  6. Nice comeback, but predictable ending. Sox can't get over the hump. Close calls matter not. We lost at home again.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) I'll take that bet. QUOTE (59th street @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Oh please; getz cheats up the middle because he cannot go to his right at all. Did you ever actually watch him play or do you just like to b**** about everything. Same thing to the genius (probably a cub fan) complaining about Viceado when he charged the ball and then dropped it; errors of comission happen in the game of baseball. Given his history he will hit and we need hitters. GO SOX ! Who cares about defense from your second baseman? I am saying Beckham can't hit. Getz is the same player, arguably a better player than Beckham.
  8. Beckham is no better than Chris Getz. That is all. And that is a fact.
  9. Beckham, BTW, should be ashamed of himself. Hitting .196 this deep into his career. Wow.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) Why does these things happen to the Sox so often? I watch alot of baseball this s*** does not happen around the league! QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Yes, usually when something like that happens, the board explodes. Shock maybe? Or maybe resignation. Yesterday's come from behind win was too good to be true. LOL. The Sox blew a 6-0 lead? What a joke. About right, however, the team wouldn't want to ever go north of .500 overall or even reach .500 at home. The board I predict won't explode the rest of the year. We know what kind of a team we have right now. You don't get mad at a horses*** team, you get sad.
  11. Don't call us bad fans because we can't get all enthused over a team still below .500 that's played so s***ty the last 2 plus seasons. Cmon.
  12. Sounds like Stewart is our do everything guy this year in the pen. For better tonight or worse some nights.
  13. Does Reed have good movement on the fastball? Why not many swings and misses?
  14. Lotta trouble after a walk normally. Trouble a brewin.
  15. Fastballs but not getting by the hitter yet.
  16. Why the meatball with 2 strikes??
  17. Thank god Tank finally hit a homer. I knew my blasting him and finally giving up on him would be a reverse jinx. I can't believe Beckham is hitting .202 in mid May. My god. Time to get a 1-2-3 close job. No drama.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2012 -> 11:24 PM) If Dunn gets hurt playing LF, there will be calls for Ventura's head. Maybe, but if Jerry and the investors were against it, they'd prolly tell Kenny and he'd put a stop to it. I'm really down on Viciedo. Just another Sox off to a slow start in his career. I guess it's natural (look at KC's Hosmer now sucking) but it is disappointing that Tank sucks so far.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2012 -> 07:09 PM) Why would Beckham get Kenny fired? It was a great pick, one that supposedly everyone in the organization was thrilled to see. There's a gigantic difference between making a logical move only for it to not work out (ie: Beckham drafted, Dunn signed to fill DH spot) and making a move that makes no sense to anyone and having it work out pretty much like everyone expected it to (ie: Hudson trade, very possibly the Santos trade also). Cause he's a first-round bust. You make good points about it being a logical pick, but he turned out to be a dime a dozen second baseman. Good field, no hit. He's not through yet, but close to being deemed a total bust.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) It's going to be a disaster anywhere you play him, you jsut hope that he doesn't have too many balls come his way over the 4-5 games you put him out there over the season, because there's going to be an error or two at the least. Might as well play Dunn. Viciedo is an automatic out and is nothing special on defense. Team is going nowhere so might as well play Dunn to make the game more fun. He might hit a batch of bombs vs. the Flubs. Viciedo not so much. With Dunn as hot as he is with the long ball, he needs to get a ton of at bats in interleague play.
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 13, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) No contradiction at all. This team is at the end of its window to win, if it does not there is nothing on the farm to rebuild with and no logical reason for keeping Williams. Beckham is the guy who might get Kenny fired. He looks like a bust. Morel quite frankly doesn't look like a major league starting third baseman cept for defense. And Flowers is no everyday stud catcher. But Beckham is the guy that really is making Kenny look bad IMO. Kenny apparently survived the Rios acquisition which was all-time bad, but Jerry appears to have forgiven him for that one. Our young talent in the major and minor leagues cept for some pitching is really really mediocre to bad.
