If Reed comes in now, is it a save situation? Get him in there.
-
Zach is a joke. I'd like to see him get released. No more experimenting with him. He's trash in baseball terms.
-
Get him out of there now. 7-4 is enough.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:02 AM) I wonder how things would have turned out if Dunn and Rios played at this level last year. Let's not get carried away. Rios has been OK, but nothing special at all.
-
That's not bad. Let them score a few runs in the 9th. I'd rather not shut them out for hex reasons on Sunday.
-
This is fun. I hope Robin doesn't start too much of a Sunday lineup tomorrow n I hope the Tank/Dunn/AJ show rage on. I'd be OK with Flowers playing, though. AJP can't play 'em all.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 20, 2012 -> 01:21 AM) Takes a gracious person to openly admit they were wrong. I salute you, sir! Oh, I was wrong. I just don't understand how a guy can look so good at the plate after looking so bad on a consistent basis. It had to be one or more of the reasons people listed last year. The guy is really bombing away. I still haven't read much about his weight. I'm assuming he lost some weight but I have no idea if that's true or not. I can't wait to see these highlights tonight. Hope they show the Soriano play. This is ... awesome.

So all of you who listed excuses all last season for Adam turn out to be correct. Whether it was being DH the first time or a family matter or him adjusting to the new league (or my reason, being fat) ... he's officially a good to great player again. Amazing. Congrats to you who didn't bury Dunn.
-
I love when the Sox hit home runs. It's our game and our only offensive game. Good job, Adam. I hate the Cubs so much now after the Paulie thing. Sweep please!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2012 -> 12:46 AM) He's actually not wrong. I've been waiting for Alexei to take a "next step" since 2008. Any who knows? He could be 34, 35 for all we know.

Why is this game on in Chicago if the FOX games are going nationally. My mlb.com doesn't work because of FOX blackout.
-
It seems to me Young is the type of player you'd hope Rios would be. Young is a stud.
-
Well, this is a good way to fight back against the Paulie thing. Two homers in a row! Nice. Is the wind blowing out as it is in KC today? Big wind gusts here.
-
I can't believe Fox screws this up. I can't watch the Sox-Cubs game. Bummer. KC-Arizona is on. Why is there not more outrage about losing Chris Young? Who did we trade him for? He's a pretty damn good player.
-
When it says not helpful in grooming young talent that means he's a jerk. No harm no foul if he plays third while Morel rehabs the back. Sad that Morel may be finished (see Crede).

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 19, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Mike Huff played the game and he said on the radio this morning that he has no doubt that Samardzija hit him on purpose and said the splitter was used because it is a less lethal way to achieve the desired result. Finally the voice of reason. I am so f***ing mad about Paulie's eye being closed and out a week. You wait, it will be a full week at least. This is outrageous. That f***ing bum Cub hit him on purpose. No question about it. Did he "mean" to hit him in the face? Probably not. At the time in the heat of the moment, who knows? He probably wanted to drill him in the shoulder. The media has blown this. They should be protecting one of the top three players arguably in White Sox history. THIS IS INSANE! I want revenge. Not in the face, but I want both our starters to drill cubs in the first inning. Get the long men ready, baby!! You don't mess with Paul Konerko. Hopefully Hawk will be on it the entire game.

Morel's got to be done for the season. No way a third baseman can play with a bad back and take all those swings necessary to be a big leaguer. How the hell is it going to heal by the end of the season? It's too late, but I'd move Tank to third and play Fukodome the rest of the year in left with Lilly spelling him. Since we're getting Hudson, I guess I'd play Hudson at third. The defense is going to suffer no matter which way you look at it, so might as well just pluck Hudson into the third base slot.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 19, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) 40 games in, we're at the unofficial quarter point in the season. Quadruple some of these numbers.... http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/2012.shtml Morel---what are you doing here? Konerko---batting title? 200 hits? Dunn---48 homers? Well over 200 k's? I also never would have though Nate Jones would have an ERA under 2.00 at this point. Some good things. Some bad things. It's a .500 team that's underperformed. Great post. Also ... - Thornton it was nice to know you. You reek in way too many games. - Floyd how bout some consistency? Danks, wake up. Sale, nice job, forget that incident happened in which they tried to mess with your mind. - De Aza, keep it up. - Rios, this is about the best you can do. .270 with a big hit once in a while, keep it up. - Tank, time to get hot. - AJ, keep it up, nice season so far. - Robin, play Flowers a little bit more.
-
Serious question: Is Oz a candidate for manager of the year? Three over .500 and right there.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 19, 2012 -> 04:29 AM) You havent watched a lot of Cubs games then, I can recall plenty of dropped fly balls in RF, and some of the more hilarious ones were players who didnt even have their sunglasses on. As a Sox fan most of us dont watch a lot of Cubs games, but RF at Wrigley is brutal. Sun sets in the West and its directly in the RFers eyes. Even Stone commented about how RF sun is brutal there, its well known. I did not know that.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) f*** them. Whether it was intentional or not, its time the opposition quits taking liberties with White Sox hitters. The past several years have seen way more Sox get hit than opponents. Obviously, Quentin and Pierre account for a good portion of it, but if Jake wants to plunk someone, he should do it. If the opposing pitcher knows he or one of his teammates is going to pay when he hits someone even it its just an accident, advantage White Sox. Maybe it seems like a who has a bigger cock type of excercise, but Paulie has to stop getting hit in the face, and the easiest way to stop it is to hit some opponents. I agree with DickAllen here. He said it perfectly. He is da man. this is how I feel about the situation.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 19, 2012 -> 04:04 AM) That's...way not true. The only reason someone suggested that De Aza would hear it is because Marty has it in for De Aza. Nobody else would get on De Aza more than usual, and this is the last place in the world Rios would get a free pass. I'm surprised more fly balls aren't dropped in Wrigley then, because of all the day games. I'm thinking most outfielders have no problem in their battles vs. the sun. Why Rios?
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 19, 2012 -> 03:56 AM) What evidence exactly? Because he hit a home run? Badass pitcher setting a tone? Now I've heard it all. You're just making s*** up at this point. No the evidence is he did the same thing against the Braves. The situation (first game of the big series, setting the tone) also lends itself to thinking he thought it was a perfect spot to plunk Paulie. How many times does somebody on here post "the Sox need a fight or something to get them going?"
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 19, 2012 -> 03:53 AM) Rios was going for the ball, he tries to close the mitt at the time he thought the ball would be there. The ball hits his mitt/hand, just bad luck. And yet like somebody said, if that's DeAza dropping it, the fans would have turned on DeAza big time. Rios for some reason gets the benefit of the doubt.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 19, 2012 -> 03:48 AM) This is really the definition of horrible strategy and a teammate that doesn't have winning as his number one priority. I'm pretty sure Jake won't do that, though, so I am not too worried. This issue is dead. Maybe Paulie will tell Peavy he doesn't need to drill a Cub, but I would suspect he'll want to stand up for the face of the White Sox franchise.
