  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) I can't believe that just happened I can. How many times do the Sox blow games? That's why last night I thought maybe oh maybe it'd be nice to storm back from a 4-run deficit and actually win. Nah. Sox don't do that.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:57 AM) Where are all the guys wanting Thornton to be the closer.............he f***ing blows in the 9th inning .....................he is and always will be a 8th inning set-up guy. SOS as last year losing games in the 9th again! Peavy screwed 2 times in 6 days. Me. Me. I was one of them. I thought he had nasty stuff this year and deserved another chance. Matt wet the bed. Team dysfunction. Appreciate the game? Yeah I'll admit it was a very good game. Way better one for Detroit, though.
  3. Hilarious. It's like Detroit played with the Sox knowing it'd win late. Here come the L's baby. Loss after loss will be coming. Thornton ... what a fail there. I was all for leaving him in. And BAM.
  4. LOL. Fathom right. Me wrong. Let the floogate of losses begin. Here they come! Wow. Sox lose a game the Sox had in control most of the way. Poor Jake; poor Sox.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:53 AM) Should be Reed here Then you must hate lefthanded closers as I do. No reason to not leave the closer in.
  6. Great play by Thornton on the bunt. Oops duck snort single. Now we got trouble. Dinger wins it for them. DP wins it for Sox.
  7. This should be interesting. This is kind of a big game so I'll say, last year we'd blow this game right here. An easy two spot for Detroit, game ova. This year? I have no idea. The team hasn't been totally dysfunctional, and has actually been good on the road, so I'm hopeful.
  8. What time is it where u live caufield?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:36 AM) He was out of gas facing one of the best hitters of the past 20 years who has seen his pitches 3 times previously tonight. Peavy was not out of gas. Peavy kept him in the park. Peavy and Verlander don't come out there.
  10. It must be great to be Matt Abatacola (sp). For Hawk to use that in his play by play is awesome.
  11. I can't believe you guys preferred a reliever to Peavy there.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:30 AM) Wow, what a dumbass decision. I'd rather have Jake f***ing Peavy pitch to Cabrera than any bullpen guy. No harm, no foul. Sox were up by two; still up by one with four outs to go. A good bullpen would wrap this baby up.
  13. Well the bullpen only needs to get four outs and runner is only on first base. No excuses. Wrap it up. Peavy had that extra run to work with. No big controversy here. Just get it done, bullpen.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:29 AM) I don't agree with this. We gotta agree with it. Jake f***ing Peavy won't come out.
  15. Peavy is crazy. No way a manager can pull him. No way.
  16. Good thing Paulie thought better of throwing to second.
  17. Oops, Jake is at about 115 pitches.
  18. Did DeAza first run back on contact there? Scared me. Jake is a bulldog. He's going eight tonight.
  19. How many pitches has jake thrown?
  20. One more inning out of Jake, hopefully a zero, then pray the bullpen is on tonight. Bullpen much better when it only has to take care of six outs.
  21. Great bomb by Beckham. That's my boy, Dotel. What a stiff. Thank god Kelly didn't rob that ball; woulda been a shame.
  22. Way to take a few pitches, White Sox. Dotel dominating.
  23. Dotel is in. Time to bash one of my least favorite Sox of all time.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 12:43 AM) It wouldn't have mattered had they signed Buehrle instead of Danks. We'd still be in the same basic position. They simply couldn't afford both. Attendance would be the same, that wouldn't matter. You're never going to see any major league team risking that kind of a contract on a pitcher in his 30's over one in what should be the prime of his career. My point it is an insult to the fan base to hype Sale as a starter, let Mark walk, and now have no replacement. We have to put some hack in there to replace an all-star starter in Sale. Yes Sale was looking like an all star.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 12:36 AM) Greg, it truly sounds like it's something they decided they had to do before his elbow exploded. Didn't they take all this into consideration before they made him a starter? Now that he's a starter, let him start. If he has to stretch the arm out a year in the minors, fine. I still say Nolan Ryan is laughing his ass off. Think his arm didn't hurt at times? Now I insist they should have re-signed Buehrle. Oh wait, the Sox are too cash-strapped to do that. Now a dominant starter is gone to the pen.
