I'll give this one more half inning. I've watched way too much White Sox baseball already this year. Watching this team can be depressing.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) If Humber pitches anywhere close to as bad as he has in his last two starts...tomorrows game has 9-2 written all over it. They can feel sorry for themselves heading into Monday's DH. It's just a matter of time they have a disastrous road trip after playing so poorly at home. Losing at home is a sign of a poor baseball team and ultimately leads to a disastrous road trip or two before the team is totally insignificant.

I also think pitching Peavy in September that one year was total bulls***. If the Sox are so worried about Sale why did they put Peavy on display one month when the season was OVA? Cause KW wanted to save his own hide and get him on the field.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) Funny, I recall you hating him last year and saying he was one of the reasons Ozzie was gone. I still think we should dump his salary. I always liked his attitude. I also said no way Robin could take him out of the game before they scored the third run. He's a bulldog. If Sox had all Peavy mentalities they'd win.

Poor Jake. Shoulda had a win last night. Pitiful. I love that guy.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) How about moving Viciedo back to 3rd? Great, Miguel Cabrera has more range than Morel and Alexei today. Alexei's play in that inning pisses me off. How bout a web gem on the road?

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Tigers 10-1 this season when scoring first. Sox might not even get a hit today. Then it'll be the dreaded trying to salvage one win in the series contest on Sunday.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) You really want to watch Escobar play more? Ventura obviously isn't a big fan of Lillibridge's offensive ability, so if the choice is Morel or Escobar...bring on the sub .200 by Morel Just say NO to Esco. Don't want to watch him.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) One of the major reasons that I'm ready for a complete blow up of this team is all the damn hanging heads and mental midgets. Blown saves happen. GTF over it and play baseball. Sox out there playing like the bad stretch is just gonna cure itself. I was really hoping to see less of this in 2012. But no. Sox are 2-6 since Santiago's blown save, and now laying down today. Disgraceful. There are 162 freaking games. Gotta be able to bounce back. True. It seems Sox fans can always point to "turning points" in games and in stretches. Good teams just win, especially at home, not lose 2 of 3 to Cleveland after winning the f***ing opener.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) This isn't the Sox being bad, this is the insane amount of luck the Tigers are getting right now. Floyd looks fine. The defense looks fine. It is just a f***ton of bad luck right now with this s*** hits and little dinkers. They pretty much have 5 infield singles right now for 2 runs. Lexi wasn't exactly graceful on that bullet up the middle.
-
I would assume a come from behind victory will be out of the question.
-
Embarrassing. Detroit has all the momentum after last night and Sox laying down. That s*** homestand coupled with a lousy road trip is about right for this team.
-
I wonder how old Lexi is. I wonder how old Pujols is. How do these players hide their real ages?
-
The schedule doesn't really matter. The Royals will win the season series over the Sox. Chi should dominate Minnesota but the Twins have to beat somebody. They are going to win more than 40 games. It really doesn't matter. .500ishness is this teams' destiny.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2012 -> 07:08 AM) Wow, greg. I'll always like you. But it's clearly apparent now that you want the Sox to suck because your hero is no longer manager. You're not fooling anybody in the gamethreads. Juan Pierre? Really? lol. That's not going to last long. Phillies fans already despise him because of his total ineptitude on the basepaths. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) <!--quoteo(post=2591219:date=May 5, 2012 -> 12:47 AM:name=greg775)-->QUOTE (greg775 @ May 5, 2012 -> 12:47 AM) <!--quotec-->Dwyane Wise is on the New York Yankees and got a hit tonight and Juan Pierre is hitting .330 for Philly. Underrated around here. Troll! You may have everyone else fooled but not me. How the f*** is Dwayne Wise relevant to anything here? Oh wait, he got a hit last night so he must be underrated right? He's neither good or young, so what is your f***ing point? Thanks for the "catch", but otherwise f*** you Dwayne Wise. As for Juan Pierre, there is nothing underrated about a slappy leadoff hitter who has no power, doesn't walk, is not an effective base stealer, has a noodle arm, and is afraid of pop flies. Nothing in the slightest. I don't give a f*** if he was the first one to the stadium everyday with his lunchpail to perfect that slap swing of his. Juan at this point in his career is nothing more than an empty batting average. But clearly both players needed to be brought up for no apparent reason. Thank you troll for adding a little more anger to an already terrible sports day here in Chicago. 1.) You are crazy if you think I want the Sox to lose and Robin to fail. Would I rather have Ozzie? Absolutely. I'm not following the Marlins; not even following Mark except as a casual fan with the box scores, updates if I hear he's 1-4 or something. 2 and 1.) Those who think I'm a troll need to get a new schtick. I brought up Pierre and Wise become somebody else did first. Yes I will stand up for players that i like. The New York Yankees obviously agree with me that Wise is a valuable guy to have. Pierre is what he is (cliche) but he's not the devil. The first Wise comment was from Caufield saying: "DeWayne Wise is only remembered by Greg775 and Mark Buehrle." I responded, so I'm a troll.

Chris Sale is now the CLOSER?!/Until he's not (Update)

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) so i'm honestly in a state of shock and mourning at this. i really haven't ever been this upset about sports before in my life. it's weird. but it's because we had hope of replacing a guy like buehrle with a phenom kid like chris sale, and with this one single move we've now taken ourselves out of contention not only for this year but for the foreseeable future. as someone posted earlier, a rotation of Danks, Humber, Axelrod, Stewart, Santiago, Molina (take your pick) puts us on the level of Kansas City or Minnesota or Houston or any other bottom dweller team. It's just depressing. and with OUR anemic offense, mediocre pitching like that is too much of a challenge to overcome. Losing Sale out of the rotation is a killer. Great post. However, with no closer after last night's disaster, it was time for Reed. Could Reed have done the job? This team's freefall is coming. Team already has blown a ton of games in dramatic fashion and has already set the tone as a lousy home team. Good luck keeping any black hair on your head, Robin. -

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 5, 2012 -> 04:23 AM) Well if he was feeling it last season.. they really should shut him down and figure out what is wrong.. not putting him at closer.. don't like this choice If he has a bad arm, he has a bad arm. Shut him down and keep him at starter. How the hell will all the work a closer does help his arm?? -
How many times have the Sox been walked off the last two seasons and five weeks of this season? How many times have the Sox won in its last at bat, discounting extra innings in that span? Mental midget baseball team.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 3, 2012 -> 04:59 AM) Wait you created this post before the game vs Cleveland for the first place? JINX! Well, at least we know they ain't gonna be in first place again until maybe next April.
-
You'd think the law of averages would help our managers. But instead we always get walked off; Sox never do the walking off.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:03 AM) It is clear that Ventura is willing to lose games to develop his young players. He was willing to throw Hector into the fire to the detriment of the team's record and he is staying true to the plan of keeping Reed out of the closer's role indefinitely. He's willing to sacrifice wins for the long term health of Sale. He was willing to sacrifice wins to see if we have anything in Beckham, Morel, Viciedo. Random s*** has to go right to win in a "rebuild" year like this. So far all the predictable things have gone wrong. I still don't see how this is a rebuild year with so many veterans on the team. Contributing veterans.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:02 AM) It should be happening regardless of how next 10 games go. It'd be nice to see Kenny have a good plan and actually get some decent players in all the trades that are coming.
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:59 AM) It sure would be nice for the White Sox to have a walk off every once in a while instead of getting walked off. Amen. Instead the Sox play at home like zombies for the most part.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) I can't believe that just happened I can. How many times do the Sox blow games? That's why last night I thought maybe oh maybe it'd be nice to storm back from a 4-run deficit and actually win. Nah. Sox don't do that.
