QUOTE (flavum @ May 6, 2012 -> 03:53 AM) Complete game for Buehrle. Great first month for him in a Marlins uniform. He's gonna pitch and excel forever. Disgraceful to not sign him to continue his career on the south side where he not only excelled but was a good example for other starters.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) Was he ever a #3 hitter at Toronto? Rios has so much talent but the Blue Jays paid him an awful lot on money and we took on the risk. But, I haven't given up on 2012 with him yet. What is his talent? Seriously? He doesn't steal bases. He doesn't hit home runs. He isn't a balls-out hustler to whack a ton of doubles or trips. He is Mr. Casual in the outfield to the point we've almost had several collisions between he and cf and he and Beckham. Check the highlights. He doesn't call guys off the ball. He'd rather almost run into them. Where is this Rios talent? What am I missing from his career numbers? He's grossly overpaid ballplayer who at times is decent. (to his credit, he helped win a game or two in April with a clutch hit or two). -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) can we block peoples comments on here?? greg, do you every say a positive thing about this team?? Why cant Stultz win the next game, you see what Quintana just did as an unknown. I'm just really down on the team right now. I just really feel the Sale news turns the Sox into the Twins. The home record was a very very bad sign cause no teams with .500-.600 potential have the kind of home record the Sox have. You guys seem to ignore the warning signs of our home record and are OK with this. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) Even if we don't pull this one out, it's nice to see us only have to burn through 1 reliever (who looked awesome) while the Indians have used 2 of them, with Perez warming in the pen. I wish I could be as optimistic as you. I just see it as a s***ty loss with the sweep coming tonight on a bad road trip, our first bad road trip of the year following a disastrous homestand. -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) I'd say all those deflating blown games by the back end of bullpen hurt the team mindset much more than Sale leaving the rotation. Fair enough. I just had a feeling that the Sale situation, though, shows what a joke of an organization the veterans play for. I mean the guy is 3-1 with dominant stuff. You take him out of the rotation and the veterans aren't dumb. It's like a white flag trade of sorts. Sale ... outta rotation. Axelrod or other rag arms ... in? Yikes. -

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) Only in Greg's world... We always look for "turning points" as Sox fans. I wonder if this Sale thing is the one thing that will be the turning point. It had to be deflating to all our veteran players who had to think Sale was a special starter. To just throw a dominant starter into the bullpen this early in the season makes no sense and again ... I think it might be THE turning point to turning the team into the piece of s*** it was expected to be. -

Wow another blowout loss for the Sox. Quite the slump the team is in. Humber must have a tired arm like Sale. Better move him to bullpen now. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:26 PM) How soon before the White Sox start selling off parts? They cannot compete with this team. And even if they could hang around, they are not winning a title. In my opinion, in order to get good again they need to get really bad first. AJ, Thornton, Crain, Floyd, Ohman and Peavy are probabaly the most tradeable assets that the team has. I would be willing to trade anyone on the team. The Sox are 29th in attendance and that simple fact should prove that they can deal Konerko as well. If Sale is not going to be used as a starting pitcher, then he should be dealt as well. I know it takes two to tango and that it is early. I just hope this is the game plan for the coming months. This team is not fun to watch and is not going anywhere. Sometimes I think people just want us to be so bad they don't even have to worry about catching a game or a score. They want a 40 win team so we are totally irrelevant. How bout we BUILD a team like the f***ing Nationals. That's how you build a team; draft pix AND free agent signings. I guess it'll be nice to get rid of every decent major leaguer we have so we can win 50 games max. I don't totally understand that logic, though.

You guys are insane. The reason I know the Sox-Royals head-to-head stuff is all the Royals fans I fight with here dating back to college days. People that know me (KC fans) would laugh at what you guys think. A Royals fan? No f***ing way. As hard as it is to believe, I like Dewayne Wise and Juan Pierre and Bobby Jenks and Oz Guillen. -
Rios with the hit; too bad they got the insurance run.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) Regardless of the outcome today, anyone who doesn't think this is a rebuilding year just needs to see who we're putting on the mound today. This is a big outing for Santiago here, as if he struggles in middle relief, then you think about sending him to the minors to stretch out until Thornton is dealt. I know it's a throwaway year, but rebuilding? Who are the players doing the building? It's just going to be a blah year but I don't see where the team is rebuilding anything with this roster?
-
Do other teams laugh at the Sox for having a guy like Lilly on the roster? Or is he serviceable. He hit some bombs a year ago. But he sucks currently.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) How slow is Rios now? Sad thing is that was the most predictable DP of the season. 39 at bats and counting since his last extra base hit or walk. He had a great run for a while there but you knew he'd turn back into Alex.
-
Is Axelrod actually in the rotation now? Next please. What's up with Lillibomb? Zero homers and zero ribbies? Man. The ball must be dead this year.
-
Trading Sale for Axelrod in the rotation is like trading Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) It's called a curve ball. Keeping the hitter's off balance changing speeds . Tiger's definitely a fastball hitting team. You see what a good curve can do to them like Floyds. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) Jamie Moyer. Bruce Chen. Mark Buehrle. Tom Glavine. It's more about changing speeds, location and movement than sheer velocity, although you have a lot less margin for error when you have the stuff of a Scherzer or Porcello compared to the likes of Dylan Axelrod. Tyler Flowers is just rusty both offensively and defensively. With his type of swing, he can never be successful playing once every 7-10 games. When you compared Axelrod to Buehrle I thought of that vice presidential debate with Quayle and that old guy. "Sir I know Mark Buehrle and you are no Mark Buehrle." QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) Him pitching in the summer at the Cell might be a recipe for disaster. He can do a solid job in pitcher's parks though.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ May 6, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) I love Hawk, it's like I'm never watching the game alone. I've got a fan right with me. The radio broadcast is f***ing awful, it's hard for me to even listen to it when I'm driving during games. I think Hawk and Stone are great.
-
Is Axelrod just lobbing it up there? Is this guy for real? Is he known as a soft tosser? Wow.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 6, 2012 -> 03:03 AM) Hey not sure if anyone caught it today but during the interview on Fox Jake said the same thing. He said I wanna help this team win games, I wanna stay in Chicago... Too bad Chicago won't offer him squat. Maybe the Cubs, but doubtful. They've been burned by Wood, Pryor. Sox won't offer him more than 1 year 5 mill after getting burned by him last year; maybe one year 6 mill if he stays healthy all season. I do love Jake, though. Great competitor IMO.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) Dude, you are such a f***ing troll. It's starting to get hilarious how hard you're trying. Your attempts to piss off the masses are becoming more and more obvious. Giving Joe Cowley props on this site with completely flawed backup? Lol, give it up. Those who know me on here can attest I'm not a troll. Regarding this particular topic: I saw somebody tweet that link and I read the article and it dawned on me Cowley had this thing pegged corectly re. Sale. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:56 PM) Nice to win one like that after losing one the same way last night. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 6, 2012 -> 12:07 AM) Biggest hit of Dunns White Sox career right there. THAT is what team leaders do. When the team is down and out the big guys step up and put the team on their backs. HUGE WIN! 1.) Good call. Like the announcers said this loss was just as painful for Detroit as Friday's was for the Sox. 2.) Dunn has hit some big home runs this year. He's actually earned his contract this year. No complaints about him. Reed looked great. There's no reason in the world to not give him the next save opportunity. Why in the world would you insert Sale as closer when it's Reed's time?
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Like the 2000 squad this team needs a brawl to pull it together. Cleveland, Perez, and Rios should get it done. QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) What the he'll Santiago never throws any breaking balls QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2012 -> 11:53 PM) Dunns homer will go down as the biggest hit of the season if the Sox can turn this thing around. Way to go Donkey! 1.) Good prediction. It might happen. 2.) Did Santiago or Reed even throw one breaking ball between them? I don't want to hear about the Sox shouldn't throw Detroit fastballs because in the ninth it looked like every pitch was a fastball and we survived somehow. Seriously ... what's with all the fastballs? 3.) Dunn wins another game for the Sox. He's actually earning the money this year. Sox don't have a ton of wins but he's been responsible for several so far this season. I'm glad I tuned back in in the eighth when it was 2-1. Finally a comeback win. It was great.

Say what you want. Cowley knows his s*** and predicted the Sale thing last January http://www.suntimes.com/sports/cowley/1023...e-rotation.html -
Paulie had no chance on that pitch. Time to tip your cap and say that other guy is too tough. Kidding before I get accused of being a troll. I am out.

That fan shoulda caught that foul ball. That deflection could give somebody a headache or missing teeth. Way to hustle, Lexi. You need a day off today.
