Any chance anyone can make a wallpaper with "Win or Die Trying" on it and "Only One Stat Matters: W". I've seen a lot of great wallpapers around here, but one that encompasses both of these would be totally badass. And if you could fit Buehrle on there, that'd be even better.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) I hated it when we did this last year. It worked for a time in May and early June, but by late June and July you could really see it wearing on our pitchers. Guys like Buehrle don't like that extra day off because it throws off their schedule, but it at least shows up in the results. When we came into this season with 5 starters, I was hoping to God we wouldn't have to pitch Mr. Offday as our 5th starter more than 1 or 2 times this season, because it would really start to wear on our staff if we did. It'd be an awful risk running with 4 starters until the AS Break. I promise you that. Especially if 2 or 3 of our guys end up being All Stars. Extra rest in June will translate to fresher pitchers come October. When we played games everyday there for about 2-3 weeks, everyone got 4 days rest. This is not pitching anyone on short rest. To me, I don't see where it is risky.

Until we need a 5th starter, just go with a 4 man rotation. We only require one more start from B-Mac before the all-star break. Here is how it breaks down. June 21st - KC - Garland June 22nd - KC - Buehrle June 23rd - OFF June 24th - Cubs - Garcia June 25th - Cubs - Contreras June 26th - Cubs - Garland June 27th - OFF June 28th - At Detroit - Buehrle June 29th - At Detroit - Garcia June 30th - At Detroit - Contreras July 1st - At Oakland - Garland July 2nd - At Oakland - McCarthy July 3rd - At Oakland - Buehrle July 4th - Tampa Bay - Garcia July 5th - Tampa Bay - Contreras July 6th - Tampa Bay - Garland July 7th - OFF July 8th - Oakland - Buehrle July 9th - Oakland - Garcia July 10th - Oakland - Conteras ALL STAR BREAK Everyone gets normal rest on this plan.

QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) I figured someone would come on here and make a dumb post like this.. :headshake Like I said... I am NOT impressed with his AAA #'s because of how he has been advertised... a top prospect and compared to MB and Prior and a 5 ERA in AAA? And its not like he has control issues, because he has good K/BB numbers... he gives up way too many HR's and Like I said and MEANT I do not think he is as good as people believe.. Ill judge him how I want, you judge him how you want.. Thank you for that expert analysis, Jim Callis. -

Some of you people need to think before posting. Judging McCarthy on his AAA numbers so far this year is completely idiotic. The guy is one of the top 100 prospects in baseball and one of our top 3. Look at his career minor league numbers. He had one bad game up here AT Texas, when they were on a complete roll and everyone called for his head. He did pretty damn well in his MLB debut if I recall correctly and it was in a big game at Wrigley. Give the guy a chance before writing him off. He's only pitched twice in the majors. -
I've been to 5 games and I've had to fly to get to all of them.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) How many games have you made it to? He is one of those that loves to come on here, talk s***, give his two cents, yet never goes to a game. Seems like there are a lot of those around here.

I would rather see Cotts shifted into a setup role, with McCarthy staying in the rotation (if successful) leaving El Duque for a mopup role/long relief. Vizcaino, in my view, has been much better recently. If he can command his fastball, he can be very effective with his slider. As of now, hitters are waiting for the slider because he can't throw the heater for a strike. This would leave Shingo as the odd man out, shifting him to Charlotte until September, when he could rejoin the team as rosters expand. For now he would stay on the roster until El Duque is ready to return. Bottom line is, as I discussed with Jason this past weekend, Shingo just isn't going to get any better pitching once a week. He needs regular work in the minors.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Either a fool-hardy Cub fan or an ignorant Sox fan or something in between. What did the White Sox avoid like the plague in this year's draft? Players represented by BorASS. What is C Patterson? A client of BorASS whom is destined to find a dumbarse owner who buys into BorASSes s*** & overpays for him. No thank you. We have Crede to deal with in the BorASS stable. We don't need another. I don't even see Boras being able to get Crede a ridiculous contract.

ESPN Insider has an interesting feature where it rates and tells all of the pitches every MLB pitcher throws. When I have time, I'll be posting these for the opposing teams so Sox fans can get a good grasp on what the opposing pitcher will be featuring. Tonight, Jeff Weaver... Also, here is a key to these rankings...
