  1. I would have lost my job YEARS ago!!!
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) ... joe cocker spaniels? My pooch Molly takes offense to that.
  3. QUOTE(joeynach @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) And we deserve it, we are the best team in all of MLB, we proved it. That is really it right there. Wire to wire, and a post-season that dominate, our team REALLY showed who was the best, and none of the "experts" even dared to argue. That is what has to REALLY eat the anti-Sox people up, is there is pretty much nothing that could be said against this team. Though we had some calls go our way, we then followed it all up with sensational play on all parts.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) I couldn't tell from the tv, but the guy interviewed made it sound like it was a "everybody knows your name" town. Very, very, very much so. Not as much as my town of Harvard, but still very much one of those. Not sure on how the kids are doing. My boss will have much more on it tomorrow I am sure.
  5. Well...I'm about 2 minutes from Cary right now, as I grew-up in and work in Crystal Lake. Tinley Park? No...try upscaled Mayberry. LOL!!! It's actually a very nice little town. Kind of historic in a way, as the "downtown" is very nice looking, but consists of about 150' of street.
  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Someone at WSI gave a pretty interesting fact. The 2.4 million attendance at USCF this year would have been the 12th highest season attendance total ever at Wrigley. So this whole "everyone goes to Wrigley" thing is not tradition, it's a very recent thing. That's why I mention the strike-out game. It took the Sosa/Mac home run chase and the strike out game to get things REALLY rolling on the Northside all the time. They had a bonafide SUPERSTAR in Sosa, and a pitching prospect that looked to be on par with Clemens and to replace their own boner with Maddux. The Sox had Thomas, who was wearing on people in this town at the time. We did bring in the fan favorite Belle though. He became loved on our side of town, but he was not a lovable player. Wrigley will sell more than the Cell, sure, but the difference is made up by not the team on the field, but the age and history of the field. I see t-shirts for the park as much as the team almost. I would bet if we still had the original Comiskey, and the Sox chose to push it as landmark instead of crumbling dive, our attendance would be closer still.
  7. I think it's funny that anybody would use Ronnie Woo Woo as a selling point! LOL!!! I've also said this before, as far as the wild sell-out's happening on the Northside. Go back and look at tape of the Carrie Woulds strike-out fest, and tell me how many people are in those stands on that day...please...Cub fans...please...explain WHY those stands were pretty vacant on that day.
  8. See, what you do is you let her have the baby, find a good home for him/her, then shoot the mom and dump her body in a garbage dump. Simple solution really.
  9. A refreshing reply to a misunderstanding that was being made by numerous of the participants in this thread, the reply came from Chisoxrd5. Sometimes it's not about being super-funny, but completely original and possibly completely honest:
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) I was indeed replying to your post... I am aware that you didn't make reference to my post, but I've become rather accustomed to no one replying to anything I write, so I just get involved in other people's discussions in order to build up my low self-esteem. I'm sorry to impinge on your conversation. LOL!!! Well, you may have just got yourself a "quote of the month" with that reply though!!! Great follow-up!
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Pitocen is a life saver to women who have a stubborn bun in the oven. It comes with it's own risks.. but between that and having to have a c-section.. I'd take the drip. My sister had an epidural and loved it. Oh yeah, a life saver, but evil in it's own lovely ways.
  12. You told me to read more clearly. If you had done the same, you would have noticed that I never once made reference to your post. oops..."carefully"...
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) No. I said any dog can attack.. followed by an example of a commonly thought "safe" breed attacking. I've never owned a pit bull so I wouldn't dare attempt to make a comparison. O.K. I'll go along with you there.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Wow...that is some selective reading you did there. One of this boards favorite topics is media bias...look no further than that to see why most everyone is scared s***less when they see a pitbull. Yesterdays top story was absolutely hideous and deserved the attention it recieved, however... They will span the entire city looking for these stories, but often shy away from that 'part of town' when a person is murdered. It's all about spin my friend. Make sure you read this real carefully before you come back with a reply...don't put words in my mouth. Try following your own advice. I was replying to Steff.
  15. O.K., let's look again: I apologize...your daughter in law. Can you actually say it doesn't read like I figure it does? YOu are saying the pit's were safe, and the beagle dangerous. Correct?
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Clearly that's what I was incinuating. Clearly that is not. Your comment made it sound like the beagle your sister owns is more dangerous than the pits you have known. I would still rather take my chances with your sisters beagle than your mom's pit's anyday of the week.
  17. But you can't deny certain dogs are more likely to "go off", and that certain dogs are MUCH more dangerous is they do. I'd MUCH rather run into a wild beagle or cocker spaniel than a wild pit bull. To think that a cocker or a dachsund is just as dangerous as a pit or a rottwieler is just silly.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) I didn't see a woman. 2 men, one of which was the man who got bit while trying to help the kids. Ah, I didn't see that report. Heck, I only know what I was being told by co-workers here, and my boss was telling me about the wacky Pro-Pit neighbor of his being on the news.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) The neighbors on the news this morning said the complete opposite in this situation mercy (although I will agree I've heard those lines used several times in the past couple years pertaining to these dogs). Oddly, it's been stated by several of the neighbors that these were "good" dogs that just "turned". A common trait of this breed as documented. These dogs also had tags, regular visits to the vet, etc.. Never showed previous signs of aggression - another trait I've read. A shame. But the one woman that was talking about how these are "good dogs" is an old neighbor of my bosses. She used to live next door to him, and had Pit's then. She is a Pit Bull Advocate, I guess. I guess she is known in Cary for being that. So take her words with a grain of salt. Part of the problem is that Animal Control is a bit of a joke. They will not put themselves in danger at all. I was on a job once, and in the shed on the job was a possum. We called animal control to remove it, and they said they wouldn't go near it due to it maybe having rabies. We also have a snapping turtle that lives in our neighborhood. She ended up in my neighbor's window well one day. We called the wonderful control, and they said they don't handle things such as snappers. Too dangerous. I think they will handle a field mouse or a loose hamster though.
  20. Congrats Mike!!! Babies are WONDERFUL!!! They make this whole thing we call "life" so much better. You want to know the meaning of life??? You're holding her in your arms in that picture. My wife is an OB nurse and I don't think I have heard any epidural nightmare stories. I might have to try digging some out from her. It's the pick drug (pitison or something like that) that you have to watc out for!!! It's the one that moves the contractions along and gives you "help". Supposedly some docs LOVE the stuff as it speeds up the process. The patient doesn't realize it is that putting you through hell. My wife fought with the doc on using it, but she insisted and suddenly there was the IV bag. With each drip...BOOM!!! CONTRACTION!!! She still gives the doc crap about it. But seeing as how they work together, the doc did it as a "just for fun" type thing I think.
  21. Talking about this right now at work. It's about time people STOP saying "it's not the dog, it's the way it is brought up". Pit Bulls (or as they are now called by people "American Bull Dog") are just time bomb's waiting to go off. We have one in our neighborhood that runs free quite often. That damn thing is about to come face to face with tfe front of my car if it's owners DON'T start tying the bastard up. Also, if it isn't the breed, then why is it I have yet to run across a friendly Chow? They are responsible for the most attacks in the US, and I still haven't seen a nice one. I worked as a Land Surveyor for years. If the house has a Chow in the back yard, you just kept moving. Same goes for Pit's. Yes, a Pit Bull can be a decent pet if raised properly, but there is always the chance, and if it goes mad, you're f***ed.
  22. And there is was! Got in the car this morning, and there was Johnny again! He was a little rough going at first, but by 8:30 it was like no time had passed at all, aside from there being no Buzz. His interchanges with Bruce were the same as before, and everything was right again. When Bruce called Johnny "effeminate", that was classic Brandmeier. Somethings have turned right in the world again. It would be nice if The Loop would strart streaming though, as being way out here in the middle of nowhere known as Crystal Lake I can't get a good signal on my little crappy radio. I guess I need to buy a better radio. WELCOME BACK JOHNNY B.!!!
  23. O.K., if they did it with Gabriel and Hackett...oh man...I would pay SERIOUS money to see that!!! The first five Genesis albums are 5 of the greatest albums ever made. If all you know of them is the bad Phil Collins hit machine, then you do NOT know what a great band they once were. But they have been talking about this for years now, and it might happen eventually. They are all still great friends.
  24. http://www.forgottenboys.com.br/ Brilliant band! If you like any of these bands: Faces, The Rolling Stones, MC5, Hellacopters, New York Dolls, The Heartbreakers, Jim Carroll, Tommy Rivers, Hanoi Rocks, Black Crowes, Supagroup, The Dragons, etc, etc, etc... You will LOVE these guys! They come from Brazil, and they are GREAT!!! On the site check out the video for "Just Done" in the Download folder. They give a few things to download, so you need to scan down a bit.
  25. Hey! We're talking "Gorilla's" here, not "Guerilla's".
