    Maggs

Reed, 2. Robbie, 3. Soriano (he shouldnt lead off anyway).

    Maggs

Magglio Ordonez $14 Paul Konerko $8 Carlos Lee $7.25* Billy Koch $6.37 Frank Thomas $6 Esteban Loaiza $4 Mark Buehrle $3.5* Total $49.12 *projected salary through arbitration thats from the tribune...we know that no one wants Thomas so we have to keep him, no one wants Konerko, Lee could be traded, koch could be traded, loaiza stays obviously, and buehrle stays. if we subtract the 2 guys that can be traded, which are Koch (hopefully) $6.37 million and Lee $7.25 million then our payroll would be $35.5 million for 5 players...that is about 60% of the payroll if its a $60 million for just 5 players or %20 of the team. In other words the sox have 2 starting pitchers....no relievers....and 3 hitters. I think at best the sox can move 2 of 3 players we dont need...when i made the post about trading maggs to LA, i was hoping we would re-sign Colon, and my point to this post is imagine if Colon would have signed that deal for $12 Million! As of right now i feel the sox have no way of becoming a legidimate compeditor with these salaries (almost no matter who they get rid of)...but hopefully KW can figure something out cuz otherwise we are screwed...My biggest fear is that we try too hard and sign bad old players for relatively cheap and then they suck and we are stuck with them...the last thing we need is to turn into the Mets or the Orioles. To conclude what i want...i hope we get rid of those players i think we can and start rebuilding with the Maggs, beuhrle, loaiza, and Marte. (and i know i will get grief for saying all that above but as of right now i dont think we have a chance). GOOD LUCK KW!!!!!!
  3. The sox may be able to offer everett arbitration since Colon is gone...i have a feeling he will be looking for a multi-year contract but i doubt the sox will. I am willing to say we should offer Robbie Arbitration because he would more than likely want a 2 or 3 year deal somewhere ( and there are teams that want him) and even if he does except arbitraion, he would get probably 4.5 million which is what he would be asking for in a 1year deal with the sox...so they better offer him arbitration. Sandy Alomar probably would except an offer but he would come extremely cheap so that doesnt matter. If colon isnt offered arbitration i would gt extremly pissed and not go to any games cuz its a given that he wont except it and thats basically 2 free draft picks. Gordon is looking for a 2 year deal so he wouldn't except the arbitration but even if he does I don't think the sox would care if he excepts it cuz he would get like 4 million ( max.) Valentin is no given arbitration cuz he would get too much money an would probably except it. I think its gunna be... Colon, Gordon, and robbie ( if he isn't signed ) offered arbitration definatly.. Everett would be offered if the sox know of teams willing to sign him to a multi-year deal....Sandy probably will be signed but offered if the sox and him can't reach a deal, and he would except. Valentin Is a definate no arbitration So I predict 2 players offered and not excepting....2 players offered and excepting.... and 2 players not offered it
  4. i think for a free agent A, the sox get a first round pick from the team that signs him, but only if they have a pick (16-28) otherwise if its before 16 the sox would get that teams second round pick and 1 supplimental pick in between the 1st and 2nd round For free agent B, the sox get a first round pick from the team that signed him, but only if they have a pick (16-28) otherwise if its before 16 the sox would get that teams second round pick but the difference is that there is no extra supplimental pick in between the 1st nd 2nd round. By the way i was just wondering if anyone knows what type of free agent Tony G is, i think the sox will sign him...they better...but im just curious???? :fthecubs
  5. i got a question from the interview, the interviewer talked about Jared Weaver, and i was wondering if he was just drafted this year or if he was going to enter the 2004 draft, also where in the draft did he end up or where would they project him to end up.? ANY relation to jeff weaver, i think i heard he is his brother but im not possitive. thanks
  6. if anybody is interested, and if you havent heard it already, at mlb.com theres an interview with reed about the USA team. i have no link but... just go to mlb.com and click on usa baseball, and then scroll down to the bottum and its under sights and sounds. i dont know if u talked about it or heard it but i thought it was cool
  7. for some reason link doesnt open on my computer...can someone copy and paste it so i can read it. :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs
  8. I' m not possitive about this but didnt the sox already do a sign and trade with Mark Johnson or was that different? he may have been arbitration eligible but i remember that they signed him. I know for a fact that the sox need to get rid of a big payoll or two in order to get a decent pitcher...i think we can all agree that KW has a hell of alot of work ahead of him
  9. Castillo and what team did cabrera play for...i have a mental lapse
  10. i hear that but if it is possible that other teams may want Cabrera and with the sox overall payroll i doubt they would get him and castillo, i'd like castillo and Cabrera but i'd take Castillo over Cabrera with a great young defensive shortstop in isturis....he did hit .250 this year at 22...that isnt that bad if he hits in the 8 spot, he may be another Ozzie Guillen
  11. i'm proud to say i never jumped on the bandwagon and that this shows who the true white sox fans are :fthecubs
  12. I feel sorry for him and his family but i mean he has lived a damn good life dispite his disease....i reserve that kind of sarrow for little kids with cancer and stuff like that... I still hate the cubs and i hope florida sweeps them :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs
  13. you guys seem to like parts of the trade but heres my reasons behind it.... Izturis is great defensivly, is 22 yrs old, and seems to be heading towards a break out season soon...we would improve our starting staff with aother young lefty arm....we would definatly improve our bullpen with quintell or Mota....we would possibly lower our payroll and allow us to sign a guy like castillo...and i think it would be possible cuz the sox have alot of righty power hitters and i could see LA wanting Valentin for lefty power and if we get Castillo we wouldnt need both miles and harris....LA has a ton of SP and great Bullpen pitchers with a somewut bad GM from what i hear and we could possibly get a good upper level pitching prospect. I think its an idea which is what KW needs :fthecubs
  14. I'm new to this board and i just was wondering what u think of this trade....is it possible?...would you want to do it? To LA: Magglio Ordonez Jose Valentin ( we would have to sign and trade) Miles or Harris To Sox: Odalis Perez Paul Quintrill (or another good righty bullpen pitcher) Ceaser Izturis AA or AAA Starting Pitcher ( 1 top prospect or 2 average prospects) What do u think, We a get a young shortstop and lower payroll to afford Colon or maybe allow us to sign Castillo who is a free agent :fthecubs
