i really think the sox will end up trading Jose, because alot of teams need a power hitting shortstop/third baseman...but...the sox don't. it doesnt look like the sox will be able to afford a decent competative team with out trading 3 of our high priced hitters...yeah thats right!!!, 3 out of...thomas,ordonez,konerko,koch,lee, and valentin. Without trading 3 of the 6, the sox will not have a good enough team to compete in the AL central, cuz i know i sound crazy but, all the other teams seem t improve as the sox get worse (Twins,Royals, and next year the indians). this will be a long interesting offseason. ordonez for percival and propects works for me...but i dont want Erstad, wasnt he injured last year...my trade would be To Sox: Troy Percival, (top 10)RHP prospect, and a position prospect To Angels: Ordonez the angels want ordonez and they have no need for percival with weber,K-rod, and those other good bullpn guys....and the sox need a good closer and to get rid of salary, but they have to get a top teir propect with him.

When the sox drafted ring, the website didnt say that they drafted a closer...it said they drafted a left handed specialist...so even when they drafted him (a moment where you usually over-hype players), they didnt think he would ever be a closer. He will probably turn out to be somewhere in between a Marte and a Wunsch BTW...where on the BA websght does it talk about other teams besides the Braves???

my guess is that if the sox trade lee for Perez instead of Konerko, there would be another player(s) involved.... either an upper tier prospect (top 10) from LA or one of their bullpen pitchers, so i would look like To sox: Perez and prospect or bullpen pitcher To LA: C. Lee or, of coarse, there is a possiblity of more players (ordonez,valentin,prospects) involved to make it a huge trade...and possibly other teams involved (Mets,Cardinals,Angels???)

well i guess technically it wouldn't be a sign and trade ( they picked up his option ) but like i said, i just want to hope there is a reason for it...right now their payroll is at like $54 million with this for like 6 or 7 players, that makes no sense...like i said i can hope!

so if u decline a team option, u cannot get a draft pick for him...ok i wasnt sure...when would the sox have to offer all of these guys arbitration, soon or anytime b4 ST???? the only reason i would say that the sox could offer Sandy Arbitration is because there are teams out there that might want him ( florida if pudge leaves,Orioles?) and they could put burke as a backup in ,he wasnt bad..if he accepts, he gets $700,000 which is what he would get if he was signed...... What would you rather have, a declining Sandy for a year or 2, or two top 50 draft picks???....if he accepts no one gets hurt at all, if he doesn't than we get some prospects.

Rauch will get the job...after AAA ball last year and the fact he is so cheap, and i think he has good stuff and can also pitch very well.

Any news on whether or not he will be offered arbitration from the sox, cuz if he is they would get draft picks...but i doubt they will ( i can hope though )??? By the way, who do u all think the sox will offer arbitration in order to get draft picks if they cant come to a deal with the sox??? i'm guessing Bartolo Colon, Tom Gordon, Sandy Alomar, and Scott Sullivan this is only if the sox and them can't agree on a contract

i thought steve sparks was a free agent too....sign him to be like a sean lowe type pitcher( can spot start, middle relief, long relief, close) If hes cheap, he might be worth a shot as a change of pace in the bullpen and he aint that bad, he usually pitched pretty good against the sox if i could remember correctly...what do u think???

after i made the thread i heard in Mac, Jurko, and Harry...that ozzie and Sidney Ponson are really good friends (i have no idea how but apparently they are) and they even asked Ozzie about it but all he said was that he didnt know. thats what heard today on MJ&H...i was also curious to know if u guys thought him being here would bring Robin Ventura back as a bench player (leftyback,defensive replacment at 3b and 1b) if he cant find a full time job elsewhere?

Do you think with Ozzie coming over here, being how much the players supposedly loved him in Florida , would have an effect on bringing some of the Marlin free agents over here??? And what about former teamates that played with him or players that loved him when they played against him??? Will the sox have a Guillen factor like the cubs have a Baker factor on players and FA's???

i think its the right decision because Cito was fired in 1997 and hasnt worked since...if he's so great, why no other jobs???....why did he lose the years after the world series titles???...was he that important to the team during those years or was he just like a nobody in the clubhouse, even worse than Manuel?? the biggest question about Cito Gaston is why wasnt there any great reason besides the 2 world series title tohire him....why couldn't he be sold to the public?? ( or in other words...what about...passion,knowledge,fire,skill, and socialbility)

Why did Gaston stop managingin 97', was he fired, did he quit, did his contract end( if so, why wasnt it renewed and why didnt he sign elsewhere)???? how about the top of the order being....1. robbie, 2.soriano,3. Lee...cuz soriano is fast but he isn't a good leadoff guy...by the way, we should sign everett or another left handed power hitter cuz we need righty,lefty,righty at 3-4-5 in the order but 1st we should get pitching.

The only reason i said keep maggs on a rebuilding team is because if we did rebuild and trade maggs in the same year a hell of a lot of fans would leave...i love lee and think we should keep him....but i also think we should rebuild and realize a lot of people would be pissed off if we traded maggs and decided to rebuild in the same year. sorry if i seem to contradict myself, its late and i cant type explanations as good as i can say them
