  1. True, but no 3-5 year deals like Keuchel and Benintendi
  2. Yeah honestly, I'd rather them just go super cheap than waste money on the Benintendis and Keuchels of baseball.
  3. Nah I just fucked up. I didn't look at fangraphs I looked at MLB pipeline and even them had it at 60, I was very wrong. I thought it said 55 but I must have been looking at the wrong tool, my bad.
  4. Everywhere I've seen Thorpe does not have plus command. The highest grade I've seen on his command is 55.
  5. I spaced on Kyle Hendricks, but yes, that's what you hope Thorpe becomes. He is such a unicorn in the modern game though.
  6. I distinctly remember Santana sitting 93-94 at his best and topping out at 95 Also, 93.1 mph average in 2007 is very different than in 2024
  7. Nailed it. Kyle Hendricks is the guy. I spaced on him. Didn't he have a great sinker though?
  8. Santana threw 95 mph which was plus for a LHP in the 2000s.
  9. Grienke threw mid 90s when he was at his best. Lincecum did too. The other 3 did not pitch in the 2010s or later.
  10. I honestly think the best comparison to what Thorpe can be is Giolito last year before he got traded by the Sox.
  11. I'm not saying that it's impossible for Thorpe to have MLB success. Giolito did just that before getting traded from the Sox up with a 92 mph fastball and an elite changeup just last year. Idk when was the last time that has been sustained over a career though. Garland?
  12. Thorpe gives me Lance Broadway/Kyle McCulloch vibes
  13. I question whether Thorpe can pitch in MLB with his fastball velocity in the modern game. this isn't 1994, it's 2024. When was the last time you saw a pitcher like Brad Radke have success? Thorpe reminds me of Lance Broadway and Kyle McCulloch
  14. I agree, but I guess even though Ortiz/Hall are MLB ready, I feel that both those guys have higher upside than either of the pitchers they got in this deal, and they could get a similar prospect to Zavala at the 34th pick, and they could even go for a HS position player there if they wanted to. Idk, I feel like the floor and ceiling are way higher for Hall/Ortiz than Thorpe/Iriarte

  16. No, but I thought that the goal was to turn this around as quickly as possible.
  17. Yeah I'm with ya Balta, I would have waited.
  18. I will explain why I like the Burnes deal more than this one: 1. I am very leery of soft tossing RHP 2. Hall and Ortiz are going to reach the majors, they don't need more development. 3. I feel like you could get a similar prospect to Zavala with the 34th pick in the draft Hall has more upside than either of the pitchers they got in this deal, even if a bit older.
  19. Yeah, I was just going to say that I wouldn't even entertain trading Robert until July 2026 because the level of prospect hugging going on by MLB teams right now is insane.
  20. Um, I'd take the Burnes deal over this. I like Hall better than Thorpe, even if he's older.
  21. Well, I guess I spoke too soon about being wrong
  22. Taking the massive L here. Throw your tomatoes at ya girl. Glad to have been wrong.
