  1. Historical results speak for themselves.
  2. So much will depend on how much of a roll Ishbia has. When all is said and done, winning orgs build a roster with a contingency plan if things go wrong. Loser orgs create a roster based on wishful thinking and best case scenarios.
  3. I think Newcombe is an interesting scenario. He wants to start, and did pretty well when given the chance to be an opener. I think if you can sign him as a starter at a quasi-reliever salary, it makes a lot of sense.
  4. What do you mean by being black and not hide it?
  5. Reduce mound height. Move mound back 4-5 feet. And expand strike zone as minor offset.
  6. Venable in post game said he gave zero thought to pinch hitting Grichuk for Mune with bases loaded. I think that may be fireable alone. While I feel he did a good job of getting a lot out of a young team and keeping them loose during the season, I have to wonder if he is the right guy to get us from point A to point D (WS champs).
  7. That’s the problem. It would have been ballsy, but Venable doesn’t have the balls to do it.
  8. While they did surprise us with an overachieving season, this historically inept offensive performance to lose this series, pretty much overrides any good vibes from the season. And they need to be called out for it. You can’t take playoff appearances for granted. This might be the only playoff appearance these guys see in their careers.
  9. Wow. Fundamental baseball. Imagine that. Moving the runner over to 3rd with less than 2 outs. Nice to be able to put the ball in play.
  10. Over/under 78 wins next season?
  11. I don’t know if I have even seen one Sox hitter actually track the ball to contact, or where the point of contact should be. They are pulling their head of the ball like pony leagers.
  12. The hitless wonders reboot. Could also call them the witless wonders too, with their plate approach. What has the Sox hitting coach been doing the last 2 months?
  13. Just stand on top of the plate and hope to get plunked.
  14. Should have pinch hit Grichuk. Mine never stood a chance. Don’t worry about hurt feelings. Season on the line.
  15. The Sox playing Nah nah hey hey goodbye, down by 4 runs in the 9th is downright embarrassing. Amateurs!
  16. It’s almost as if the umps are punishing the Sox for such stupid early failed challenges.
  17. I’m talking about now that the game is out of reach.
  18. They hit 4 of our betters yesterday and another today. They were pitching us inside the whole game. Meanwhile their hitters are totally comfortable in the box right now. Hey Will, you think it’s time to put these last 2 innings to good use and start getting in their heads a little bit.
  19. Look at the difference between our deadline acquisitions and theirs…. Castillo, Brazelban and Doyle? Compared to what Adell and their pitching pickup have contributed…. Night and day.
  20. And how long will it take before Venable strips Teel of his ABS privileges before the 7th inning
  21. And Venable showing he’s in over his head. Wednesday’s game was managed like a throw away game.
  22. Makes me wonder if the first 2 wins were due to the long layoff the Guards had before the start of ALDS. A little rust and now back in the groove. These are teams in 2 different categories right now.
  23. Sox are showing they don’t belong. You can’t patchwork your way to a title. Teams use openers in certain instances, like injuries, doubleheaders, or certain playoff instances. For us it was standard protocol.
