  1. Jurko absolutely hates the Sox and has even offered to drive one of the moving trucks down to Nashville. He’s a freaking gear head and an embarrassment to Chicago.
  2. There is really nothing left to discuss. Jerry delivered his ultimatum in the Crains article. No new stadium at the 78 and the Sox will definitely be moving one way or the other to another state when the current deal with the state expires in 2028. The current site (35th & Shields) is a dead duck for all the reasons people have stated in this thread over the last two days. And as somebody stated here today. Chicago only has one NFL team. We have two MLB teams which means one is expendable. The Bears will be going hat in hand to Springfield soon and they are the odds on favorite to beat the Sox over the hotel tax thing. The media and Chicago sports fans won’t beat up the Beloved Bears over state financing like they are with the Sox. Sorry, but the White Sox franchise is terminally ill and waits to be reborn in a different state far far away. These few remaining seasons at the rate will be very solemn and sad but on the other hand there will also be much happiness in the move especially among several radio sport talk personalities who for quite a while now have been begging the Sox to leave like the guy on AM1000 (the former packer) who is absolutely elated.
  3. All Jerry has to do is look at this thread and he’d be off to Nashville in a heartbeat.
  4. We Hate Everything Field. Also known as “The Hate”.
  5. I don’t blame anyone. This is more like a bubonic plague, psychologically speaking.
  6. I think the hatred is genetic. I find Sox fans who totally hate the Sox (which is weird) have a generational link to Bridgeport, Canaryville, Back of Yards, or Front of Yards going back to when the stock yards were there. The toxic noxious devilish smells and fumes the permeated the area for decades has altered the genetic makeup of those who lived through it and their descendants to the point were it manifests this hate-hate relationship with the area. Even if your only 1/4 or 1/8 descendant to ancestral stock yardians you could be at risk. And if any of you ancestors ever drank from bubbly creek you probably a ringleader.
  7. I guess we’re all angry-morbid sox fans that hate everyone and everything associated with the Sox which means we are all nuts. The new team mascot could be “Nut Case”. The between inning race thing they do with caricatures of the broadcasters could be changed to “Three Nut Cases”.
  8. How about a “Tomb Lounge” where Jerry is entombed behind the bar featuring “hate burgers with mourning fries”.
  9. If by some miracle they get the new ballpark I have the new name for the park. “South Side Hate Park” also known as “The Hate”.
  10. And that competition means they’re at war. Take anything you read or hear from reporters/writers/talk show hosts with a grain of salt. And keep in mind that the Bears have a lot more of these people on their “payroll” than the Sox do. If they want a story written they’ll find someone to write, or say, it and reward them for doing it.
  11. They want the money from the hotel tax to help pay for the stadium. If they’re saying otherwise they are lying….through their teeth.
  12. And Pat Quinn should come out as opposed to any Bears public funding of any kind now or in the future.
  13. Yep. The majority always fears the minority.
  14. The walls have ears and organizations have rats. Paid rats.
  15. It will come from (originate) from taxes which come from taxpayers. Are you saying whoever, Bears or Sox, asks for less is the good guy and whoever asks for more is the bad guy?
  16. So, when the Bears go begging Springfield with their new stadiums public financing ask, will the media outrage be as great as it is with Reinsdorf or will the media sugar coat it.
  17. Through one of their friendly media suck-ups, who could use the extra money.
  18. Maybe Reinsdorf didn’t ok the leak. Maybe the story wasn’t leaked by the Sox at all. Maybe the Cubs leaked it. The Cubs certainly can’t be doing cartwheels over the possibility of this deal coming to fruition. The Cubs and their fans and their sports media lackeys whom they give nice Christmas presents to would be doing cartwheels if the Sox fled the state.
  19. Is he bringing a suitcase big enough to carry home one billion dollars?
  20. With the Bears losing their land assessment appeal don’t be surprised if they (the bears) take over the 78 development plan tossing the Sox back to square one.
  21. And I’ll add that the media here in Chicago, especially the sports media, for the most part, are thrilled at the prospect of the sox fleeing elsewhere. Taking heads on radio are begging them to go.
  22. You can equate Reinsdorf with mediocrity but you cannot but the label in a new ownership group unto you see what they’d be capable of…..outside of Chicago. The 35th and Shields site has mediocracy written all over it. I really don’t think the MLB gives a rats ass about whether there is an American League in Chicago or not.
  23. So when this project 78 proposal finally collapses due to Reinsdorf’s inability to get the state financing he wants, he or a soon to be named new ownership, will have other options (fantastic options) in Nashville, Portland, and possibly Honolulu, to name a few. The current site here in Chicago (35th st.) is a backwater compared to other opportunities elsewhere. Jerry may be earnestly “trying” to get this 78 thing done but I believe he knows it a very long shot and he can say, when the curtain finally comes down, that he “truly” tried to keep the Sox in Chicago but failed. Threatening to move is the only leverage he has and he knows this leverage is a long shot but what the hell, might as well give it a try.
