  1. I saw Arod a couple times when he was in the Midwest league at 19. Dude was unbelievable. Playing in that league, it was like a man with a machine gun against kids with slings. Jordan against middle schoolers. Wildfires against empty fire hydrants cause they emptied the reservoirs, banned generators for water pumping and banned removal of grasses to protect a mouse
  2. If that’s true, the extra year would still provide considerable extra trade value
  3. Stop what? Drawing a logical conclusion?
  4. Nope as the link you yourself provided clearly explains, teams now receive compensation picks between rounds rather than picks from signing teams. That was eliminated in last CBA several years ago due to fact it was suppressing the players’ value
  5. This link explains exactly what I said
  6. Well in that case, once again you are dead wrong
  7. I don’t see how something has to give in relation to Lux and Kim. Kim projects more as a super utility player. With Taylor, Kim and Rojas projecting as their bench with Edman moveable around the diamond as well, don’t think they’d necessarily need to move Lux
  8. It doesn’t work that way anymore. Teams receive a supplemental pick in between rounds, either after the competitive balance picks following second round, or following fourth round, not from the signing team
  9. I hope that late growth spurt doesn’t throw off Schulz, but seems like it could result in problematic mechanical issues to me
  10. There’s no way our top prospect is blocked by adding a couple players. We don’t have that many quality players and guys like Rojas and Kim can play multiple positions. There would still be room for all of our glorious outfield and firstbase prospects as well if we signed a Santander or Alonso
  11. Yeah but if you could sign Kim and cut, for example, Vaughn, you wouldn’t prefer that? Then the blocking question is out the window, but now you have a better player along with the twelve other roster spits for the 12 prospects that we’re worried about blocking
  12. Call me crazy but I don’t think adding good players is such a bad idea. The entire team is a hole, so worrying about blocking prospects seems kind of absurd. If you signed a couple guys like Kim then it would be Rojas, Vaughn, Tachman, etc potentially blocking them, not the better players. Do the Sox actually have 13+ prospects who will convert into legit mlb batters over next 2-3 years to cover every roster spot so that we have to worry about them being blocked by signing a couple quality players now? I seriously doubt it
  13. Sox must have a lot of great prospects if they’re at a point they don’t have room for a single above average veteran
  14. If a good catcher were a good hitter, he wouldn’t be a backup catcher. Regardless, Lee is about the least of my concerns with this team
  15. Well he is good at defense and rates more highly than Quero there, so that must be where you’re mistaken. If anything, long term, Quero is moved from behind the plate and Teel/Lee are your catchers
  16. Yeah. At worse he’s a pretty good backup catcher over the next few years.
  17. I don’t see why. He’s a good catcher with some power and decent running ability
  18. Meidroth also started more games as SS than anywhere else last year. Did this guy get his name from Tolkein or what
  19. Yeah but you’re ignoring the fact that from 2022-2024, at AAA he put up a .923 OPS with a .412 OBP at AAA as a top 40 prospect. Basically the type of prospect we have like two of per decade at best. Even those numbers he put up in 2023 with Dodgers aren’t that bad if you look beyond the admittedly BA.
  20. When the Sox acquired Vargas he had a 108 OpS+ in 80 PA for the Dodgers, after putting up a .290/440/556 line at AAA in 191 PA, and having .900 OPS and .400 OBP over previous two years in minors. Not sure what happened in those 40 games with Sox, but prior to that, Fletcher wasn’t even on the same planet as Vargas. Basically an A- prospect vs a B- prospect. Sox definitely have to give Vargas at bats but Fletcher I’d say needs to earn any kind of role IMO
  21. How you figure. He looked like a quality left hand major league reliever last year
  22. So the effect at Charlotte is good for a difference of 200-250 ops at home, in your estimation? Seems kinda high to me
