QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) p.s. I'm not sure this is a good idea Jas. Maybe a politics board? No one in their right mind would moderate it.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Soxy, I thought that maybe the first sentence of my post was what you found objectionable. It was an honest mistake, if you take it into the context of a message board. I do sincerely apologize. No, I found objectionable Kap's post (which was "serious" except maybe the part about Al Gore, which sounded pretty mocking) and Nuke's reply. Initially I was going to put something in my post about how really only one person on this board could make any judgements about a grieving parent--but I figured why make it personal to you?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) I apologize then, Soxy. Whatever. I'm out.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Thanks. Join the 'Absolutely repulsive' club. Um, uncalled for. Obviously, I wasn't referring to you. I hadn't even read your reply when I posted that.

Hm, I wonder why we can't have a respectful discussion about politics here? Read your posts people you're acting like children. Seriously, you b**** and b**** about the "liberals" slandering and attackign you--well look at yourself. You're no f***ing better. Seriously, why are our politicians such hypocrits? Hmmmmmm, maybe because we're a nation of people that would rather be dead than wrong (and that goes to both sides). Disgusting, this has seriously just become about slander, rudeness and demeaning the other side. Absolutely repulsive.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) I need a present for a 10 yeal old boy, if anyone has any ideas. Greatest game ever. . .

Bake him some cookies. Or condoms, really you can't go wrong there. . . Although, and this might hint to my cheapness/general apathy towards relationships, I would probably never get someone a gift after only a month and I'd feel super uncomfortable if I received a gift under those conditions. (note: I'm a girl, so take that for what it's worth)

Personally, I like 1 the best, but I probably wouldn't wear it with a "real" dressy outfit--more like really nice dress shoes. I really, really, really like the nice clean lines on 2, so I would say that's your best bet for dressy occassions. Shoes 3 are heinous. Do not ever wear them.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Master Soxy. OOOhhh la la... has a certain ring to it. Congrats, Soxy! Thanks! Writing it up is going to be a real b****, but I finished another manuscript I'd been working on this past weekend. So, really it's the only thing I have hanging over my head at the moment. But, man, it's going to be so awesome to have that data all in my gruby little hands. . .
-
I will finish collecting data for my master's next week (6 freaking experiments, yikes)! Then just gotta do some stats and, HELL YES, I will write it up over Christmas. Hahaha, by the end of this school year I'll FINALLY be Master Soxy. . .

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) I was just reading in a quasi-Psychology magazine, unscientific, that women are more likely to introduce new words and pronunciations into a language. Are there any scientific studies to back that up that you are aware of? Off the top of my head, no. I can probably answer that when I get my free review copy of a Psycholinguistics book this week (although, technically, this question is, imo, more sociolinguistics). I think that would be a true statement, though, because if you look at linguistic studies (corpus analysis, and spoken word analysis for dialect, words, etc) they typically use older males because their language is more invariant. Women tend to take on some characteristics of the people to whom they are talking, whereas men's accents and talker specific attributes are more static. When my text comes I'll look into that. . .

I went with apathy. Although I guess it depends who you're talkign too. Relocation is probably the saddest for both. But I think apathy is the worst for the one getting dumped. Because then there's no way to thinking they still care about you. . . EDIT: Although I think that "running out of beer" is going to be the run away winner here. . .

Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Ah, well, two days late and significantly more than 2 dollars short, but. . . Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone spent their day surrounded by all the things they are thankful for.
-
I did, but I didn't start until about 9--late enough for the crazies to be gone, but early enough to avoid the hugest crowds. All of my Christmas shopping save for my best friend is done. And I think we're just getting each other a spa day, so that's kinda done. Black Friday is the closest I get to the thrill of the hunt. I love it and wouldn't miss it for the world. Plus, I got some *awesome* deals.

I love mittens. (granted, I'm a girl, but I still love them.)

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) Well done on getting one of the correct spellings of that one. Céilí is the other Celt-certified correct spelling. And it also happens to be my daughter's name. Though it means dance or party, as you well know, it is believed to be originally derived from the Latin word for heaven. Whether a room full of Celts in Kilts qualifies as heaven, I'll leave you to be the judge of. Lol, well, at least I did learn something from my term in Scotland. And I can even say it properly. I'd never thought of it as a name--but that's a really unique and pretty name (and I'm all for unique names). And, on an unrelated, but equally heavenly front, I got my ipod yesterday, added my songs this morning, and it's awesome! Makes me rethink my aversion to all apple products.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Yum? Oh my, I don't think we want to know any more. Hey, kilts are hot, that's not my fault. Don't hate the player, hate the game. I used to go to ceilidhs just to see all the kilts. No idea why they are so incredibly sexy, but, hot damn, they are.
