QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Duque's starting the 8th, isn't he? I don't like the Duque vs Reed match-up, and Reed's been flirting with a double in his at-bats tonight. Yes very true. Lock it down boys, can't lose a game in the standings. -

Great job be El Duque so far, ever since he came off the DL hes been nothing but money. Hes been doing better now than he has the whole season. --Hes always given us good performances but atleast he isn't throwing 100+ in the 6th anymore.-- -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Yes...that was me saying I didn't think Anderson had a chance against Felix. I've never been so happy to be completely wrong. Hows that crow?? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Dude...I guarantee you I've played as much baseball as just about anyone on here, and faced more 90 mph plus fastballs than anyone. My problem with PK's at bat was this: what was he looking for? I'm not upset that the guys aren't getting hits against him. Rather, just a lot of guys seem like once they get two strikes, they're just waiting to be aced. At least with Johan, we go down swinging. Yes, they are looking at FB's in some good spots and holding the bat on their shoulders, then they swing at the curve in the dirt with 2 strikes. Duke doesn't deserve to lose this one, lets get some runs. -

Good pitcher or not, you don't leave 2 on with one out. -

Duke did a good job on that back handed toss, the missed call swinging strike besides the HBP hurt him. -

He is good but the sox don't look bad against him. Their making contact and working the counts. That is a good sign as I remember back when the sox faced another phenom at the time in Harden and were the first to get to him. Hopefully they can do the same to him, rattle him a little bit, maybe get him to hang a few of those curves. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) There are other applications that this will work on (invision). But mySQL is the most popular, and with the amount of traffic that this site generates, it would take a full version of something a lot more powerful then we have, which is not cheap, depending on which way we go. The server is ran on unix, there's no way in hell that I'm going windows. Lol! Good ole IIS isn't secure or stable enough for you?? I rather have a good working unix server than a windows one for damn sure. Maybe cleanups of the database periodically would help, like every few months.

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) If that is the case why bring him back? Is this a smart move?? I say let him get healthy, why risk him totally blowing out a groin and then missing the playoffs completely. Well an aggrevated muscle is not something u wait a few weeks to heal, it takes a lot of time. Its not something u can fully heal during the season, its something that has to heal in the offseason when he isn't out in the field everyday and stealing bases. You can't rush something like that, it takes time.

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) When Pods comes back, if he is 100%, is this going to be enough to awaken our sleeping bats? I personally don't see how him being in the lineup makes the team start hitting. I see him as a threat that keeps the opposition on its toes, by forcing plays and causing pitchers fits but thats it. Am I wrong, what does everyone else think? That bad part is he won't be coming back 100%. That sucks, he can go on crazy base stealing streaks if hes ok but since hes not its going to be harder. I think he said hed probably be back around 90% because a strained or pulled muscle is not something that can heal right away. He does add to our team wether hes 90% or 100%, hopefully he can get back to form and give us our good leadoff hitter back.

I was shaky about our chances because of the way we were playing before we got to Minn. I knew that if they kept losing it was over. As far as the Minn series goes, I knew after Tuesday everything had changed. Everyone was jumping off the cliff because we lost yet again but I knew the sox were gonna come through. Tuesdays loss was personal, I knew they were gonna come back for some revenge. I think that is a very important part of our 2nd half struggles, if they keep pitching like this they will win the division. Also, all those close games we won in the beginning of the season are different now, Cliffy isn't the same and neither is Hermy. Marte has been the same and Viz has improved. Hopefully we don't get in so many tight games anymore because our bullpen isn't in tip top shape.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) great point. Ball has to cross the bag fair first, and it didn't. That's why Paulie laid there. Besides, does anyone really think that Paul Konerko could have dragged his ass off the turf and run to get that ball before Blum reached it? Paul Konerko?? So if it would had been a very shallow pop up and Dye would've raced to catch it but while he was catching it, it sliced foul and he dropped it, it would be fair?? If it his glove like it did PK's?
-
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) watching the replay, I don't see how anyone can say that ball was fair. And DJ had no business calling out Kong, saying "it's no time to sit there and argue." That's not what Konerko did. Also, why didn't Blum just throw home? He had a clear shot? Meh, who cares. Sox win! After watching the play I have a question. If PK would have caught the ball in the air in foul territory, he would have been out right? Since he didn't the ball is foul because it hit his glove then foul ground right? How does that differ from dropping a pop up in foul ground?? I just confused myself for some reason.
-
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) I just listened to it and he says: "And now they're gonna try and -- AND NO! HE DROPS THE BALL! DAMN!" it sounds like he was trying to take it back while it was coming out! I love the Hawk, man. LOL!! When I first heard it I didn't know how to react, it sure sounds like it. Its hilarious too, hes like slamming his fist on the table at the same time. --I usually watch the replays from the games, is anyone else tired of that damn come back players of the year commercial before EVERY video?? I know I am, its so damn annoying.--
-
I was at work listening to the radio during the play that tied the game 1-1, after I got home I watched it. Hawk went wild when he dropped the ball from Blum's throw but did he say damn?? I listened to it a few times and it sounds like it, didn't see anything about it in the game thread.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) After tomorrow's game, 17 of our next 20 come against losing teams. Time to get back that double digit lead. No s***, hopefully we can take all of those series, start some winning streaks. It doesn't even matter how many games, we weren't great at the beginning of the season because of our 8 game win streaks, its because we won 3 or 4 and lost 1 then won 3 or 4 again. They get back to doing that, and were straight. -

Hey guys, give everyone a hand today even the bullpen, atleast we won. Specially the offense and to Buehrle stepping it up big time. He said he was watching Santana to see how he used a pitch or something, anyone know what he was talking about? I only got to see the 9th. Just as fast as we went on that losing streak they can start a winning one now. Go get em tomorrow guys, good job.
