QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) Buehrle has proven himself year after year as a solid starter. JG has always been mediocre and even this year he struggles against the good ones. Hes got talent, he simply lacks balls. He is scared of the hitters. The great ones are never scared. Instead they scare the hitters. I am sure someone can dig up some stats on Garland vs teams above .500 and prove you wrong. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) There were a lot of people on this board hoping JR would open the checkbook and sign Pavano. I desperately wanted the Sox to get Randy Johnson and there were a lot who felt the same, some signings are a stretch, some are just bad luck. If Steinbrenner wants to throw his money at everyone, more power to him. I wanted Wright... -

QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Jon Garland, potential ace, real time coward. :puke Ok Garland sucked today but so did Buehrle yesterday, lets analyze Garland once the seasons over to be fair, he did a good job vs a hot bmore team. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) At the time they were signed, Randy and Kevin Brown were superstars. Pavano had a great season last year, and a ton of teams went after him. Just cause a player doesn't pan out, it doesn't mean they're overrated. Kevin Brown was good but he was still a big gamble. No excuses there. -

QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Because teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets blindly sign any player they think is worth it. Remember, the Yankees paid huge sums of money for Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano. Just because they get paid a lot of money doesnt mean theyre stars. Thats if you don't include Wright who just got back. I would have rather signed Pettite and Clemens back if they were willing to. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) It's crazy to think that the Indians got Sizemore, Lee, and Phillips for Colon, and Phillips was supposed to be the main guy in that trade. Yeah I remeber Phillips, he hit like .210 like in 02. Over like 100+ games too. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) and Casey Blake has been damn good, and Sizemore, Hafner, Broussard, and Boone have picked their games up. They just have a dynamic offense that has become the Hulk Hogan of coming back against amazing obstacles. How many players on that team came via trade of players from their good ole days?? Oh and who are they? -

Hopefully we keep hitting like this, the last game we scored 6 and that should be enough with the pitching we have but Garland s***ted in his pants. Hopefully we keep on going. -

Hey guys im back, great to see Bmac showing Buehrle and Garland how its done. Besides the fact that I am happy were winning and we could end up splitting the DH, I am very impressed by Bmac. I have never given up on him. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) I'm worried about how they are playing, not about losing the division. Our lead is 6.5. Every team in baseball would KILL for a lead like that cept for the Cards. After this series is over we have an easy schedule just like the Indians have had. Where have you been??? With Willie?? This team is playing like s*** right now. For the past 3 weeks maybe even more. We are not safe right now f*** the lead. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) We simply don't match-up well against good hitting teams now. This week will likely be real bad against the Rangers and Tigers. The way we play our division I don't think we will have too much trouble with them. I rather play the Tribe than Rangers. -

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) I guess I agree, but that's like being the tallest midget at this point When Timo is one of your best hitters, you're introuble. -

Cotts with 2 innings of perfect ball! Wish the rest could do anything remotely close to that. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Cotts with a 1-2-3 inning. Doing what he does best, too bad 6 runs is a lot for us these days and anymore would be a blessing, especially with Cy Young on the mound.
