Sox have interest in Piazza
Nomar would be great because he is a good Average hitter and can play him at 3b, SS, or 2b if we needed. He is also a good marketing guy.

Sox have interest in Piazza
Last year: .251 .326 .452 .778 19 homers and 62 rbi's. http://www.all-baseball.com/archives/021012.html Interesting alternative to a Delgado or Helton. He'd come cheap, but I feel he is done and wouldn't be much better than Carl last year. Just look at last year's numbers.

Sox Payroll for 2006 w/ Delgado
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Looks fine, but consider how much bigger Delgado's contract gets over time... By the last year of his contract, he'll be 37 yrs old and making $16 million. And if we keep Konerko (which would most likely be at a 4 or 5 year deal), he'll probably be making around $13 million by the time he's 34. Just saying that its a ton of money and years to invest in two players who aren't exactly kids. Also remember, some of our starters will be looking at paydays in the next year or two. As much as I'd like to see both of them in our lineup next year, my guess it that if we get Delgado, Pauly most likely will be gone. True, but I believe as we move on in two to three years, our payroll could reach near $100 million. Next season, attendance will be insane for the Sox, possibly around 2.8 million and I think we can afford these players as well as give the guys who deserve it raises. However, this is probably Count's last year with the Sox and that frees us $8 million for a cheaper player such as a Haigwood or Broadway or a cheaper veteran.

A Must Watch...
That was so damn funny.

49ers @ Bears
Nathan Vasher = god

Hirotoshi Ishii
His numbers indicate he would be very good his first year 2.00 era something and then regress kind of like Otsuka, which I would definately take from a lefty. I say go for him, but since he would have to be posted, he would cost a lot.

Yankees ask about Rowand
Kenny won't sacrifice any of the big 5 in our rotation for Delgado or any other hitter minus Pujols and other guys who won't be traded. Kenny knows that he won the WS with pitching and won't compromise that when searching for a LH power hitter.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) I estimated the amounts for these players: Pierz: $4 Crede: $3.5 Gload: $400K Harris: $400K Viz: $1.5 BMac: $400K Cotts: $400K Jenks: $350K Garland: $7 Anderson: $350K Kong: $13M +Delgado: $13.5 The team payroll came out to $100.325M then you could subtract Rowand and Marte's salaries A lot of the $400K players could be less next season. No way in hell is Crede worth $3.5 million, even though you are probably right in what he will get. But, when Borass is the agent, we will be ripped in arbitration.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Um, are some people forgetting what we'd have to give up to get Delgado? It would probably cost the Sox Contreras, and put us without a 5th starter again. Well, part of the reason they are trying to trade Delgado is for salary dump so they can get a FA starter like Weaver or Millwood. So I don't think it's unrealistic to think: Rowand, Marte and Tracey for Delgado. Maybe a little better than Tracey, but certainly Kenny will not trade the big 5 starters.

Bobby Abreu
Abreu would be awesome with the Sox. Since he is Venezuelan, he and Ozzie would get along superbly. He would be a welcomed addition.

Yankees ask about Rowand
If we could add Delgado, it would be so sweet. Not only are we getting a guy whose season average is .284 ave, .393 OPB, .559 Slug, .952 OPS, 38 HR and 121 RBI's, he would also be chasing 400 homers which could boost attention and attendance. He would instantly make us favorites for the series again if we had both Kong and Delgado.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) If we kept Konerko and added Delgado, next years payroll would be roughly $100M (this includes estimated salaries of: Pierz, Crede, Gload, Harris, Viz, BMac, Cotts, Jenks, Garland, Anderson and Konerko) without subtracting any player's salary from the current 25 man roster. subtract rowand's $3.25 and the payroll = $96.75 subtract Rowand and Marte's salaries of ($3.25M + $2.25M) $5.5M and the payroll = $94.5M I really don't see this as being realistic. Got to figure that the Marlins will pay $3 million of the salary. We also lose Evertt and Thomas who combined made $11 million last year.

Linkie for ESPN 1000: http://espnradio1000.com/ then go to listen live and I think other Local programming to listen. BTW, Levine is gone.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Once again showing that Levine knows nothing. Levine needs to lay off the crack. He's been wrong countless times before. Did Reinsdorf just raise the payroll by $25 million or something? Let's say Kong gets $13 million, that's +4 million. Let's say we get Delgado and the Marlins pay $3 million per year of that. Thomas + Evertt last year were making $11 million. Kong = +4 million Delgado = +13 million Thomas + Evertt = -11 million Rowand = -3 million (assuming he's traded for Delgado) Total = + $3 million. Now include raises and Garland + A.J. + Crede arbitrations and such our payroll doesn't increase by that much.

Yankees ask about Rowand
If it means anything, Levine was on 1000 and said KW was giddy because teams were willing to talk trade already and Levine says the Sox can afford Delgado and Konerko without a salary dump of sorts.

Thome rumor
Rowand for Abreu would be sweet, if Philly would do it and Bobby is Venezuelan, another Ozzie brother.

Yankees ask about Rowand
Ask any scout, GM or baseball exec., they will all say Anderson has more potential and most of them would say he is a better player right now. There is a reason, he was the Sox's #1 prospect and 1st round pick, they didn't pick him to repeat AAA after a successful season. Nobody here wants to trade Aaron just because he wasn't as good as 2004, we want to trade him because he can help us acquire a power bat such as Delgado or Helton and because our replacement for him is just as good, if not better.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Show me anything that would lead you to believe that Anderson is capable of becoming a 25 homer guy. He had 16 in 448 at-bats, so that's basically 20 in a 580 at bat season. So, you don't think he will improve as he gains strength. Also, he had surgery to fix a problem in his wrist or hand, so that will help him improve.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Don't get fooled by the two homeruns he hit.. he only had 16 in AAA.. And if you want to use that small sample, shall we look at his K:BB ratio in his brief majors stint? Aaron had 13 in a homers paradise and he had 578 at-bats compared to Anderson's 448. Anderson will improve to a 25 homer guy in a couple years.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) We do? Anderson is unproven. Rowand is a world series centerfielder. Just because you played in the World Series doesn't mean you are a great player, he was a role player on a great "team." Paulie and maybe Dye were the superstars, and everyone else played their role. Just becuase Aaron was our CF in the World Series, doesn't mean that if we can upgrade we shouldn't because we might lose Aaron.

Yankees ask about Rowand
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Anderson had a .829 OPS in AAA. Is that great? Not really. Put him in AAA for another year, see if his numbers improve, and then think about dealing Rowand. But until he puts up numbers in AAA that show that he will be a better offensive producer than Rowand, I'm not sold on it. Aaron has never been a good OPB guy, Anderson, although strike out prone, is a better OPB player, provides more power, a higher average and more overall production. His triple A numbers indicate he is ready for the show, and that fact he hit two bombs of King Felix. Anderson can roam CF pretty well and especially if we lose Paulie, we need the offense that Anderson can bring.

Sox to increase tix prices/Seats still going FAST
We all know that the Sox can raise payroll significantly this year, come on if Toronto can go to $80-85 million, then the Sox, coming off a World Series, can go to $90 million, at least.

Yankees ask about Rowand
The dream line-up would be: Pods (LF) Iguchi (2b) Delgado (DH) Konerko (1b) Dye (RF) Crede (3b) Pierzynski © Anderson (CF) Uribe (SS) I was thinking about moving Iguchi down in the order, but we wouldn't have a solid #2, the only other could be Uribe, but he is too hot/cold. Although, it 2004, he batted #2 and was awesome. Also, this line-up figures in trading Rowand as part of a Delgado trade. The ultimate trade would be Pierre and Delgado for Rowand, Anderson and someone else, but that's just dreaming.

Sports Nation Poll
My favorite: Hermanson, Marte and Vizcaino as insurance? Have they forgotten about our two best relievers, Cotts and Politte? Silly ESPN.
