  1. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) The Bears pick 22nd. You mean 20, I think. Fixed in original post.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 04:45 PM) Posted this on RealGM I feel like one route the Bulls can take would be this; Trade the Bobcats Pick + Assets from Trading Deng for the Bobcats pick this year. You'll be able to get McLemore, Shabazz, or Oladipo. Then, use this years Bulls pick and draft a SF to backup Butler. Then use the 2nd Rounder on a backup big (Oriakhi? Young?) PG: Rose - Teague SG: McLemore/Shabazz/Oladipo - Hinrich SF: Butler - Saric/Nash PF: Boozer - Gibson C : Noah - Young/Oriakhi Amnesty Boozer after the year, then roll with this. PG: Rose - Teague SG: McLemore/Shabazz/Oladipo - Hinrich/2014 Draft Pick SF: Butler - Saric/Nash PF: Mirotic/Taj C : Noah - Young/Oriakhi It's banking a lot on luck and young players panning out, but it's one route to consider. It'll be in the heart of Rose's prime, so McLemore/Shabazz/Oladipo and Mirotic basically have to play like back-to-back Rookie of the Years. Who is Deng being traded to? His salary is huge so you need to get back another big salary player and I don't see that in your roster. EDIT: I see say you trade the Deng assets, but there will be salary unaccounted for.
  3. I am really hoping that Lane Johnson or Jonathan Cooper falls to the Bears at 20. I really don't want Fluker. Webb can handle the RT position, we need a LT and natural Gs (since many people talk about Fluker moving inside). If one of the big 5 OL (Joeckel, Fisher, Johnson, Warmack or Cooper) don't drop, I would have no problem with the Bears drafting a stud DT/WR/LB that inevitably drops.
  4. Very good BB to K ratio. Hopefully he can be a serviceable utility player. We need more high-OBP players anyway. If D is good, definitely a better fit than Morel. Him and Sanchez should be the two utility infielders with Wise in the OF.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) Which means it should be easier for him to learn the game than someone like Rose. Not at all. Brandon Paul is very smart off the court, but an idiot on it. Basketball IQ and academic IQ are very different.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2013 -> 10:33 AM) The Bulls have handled idiots before. Their starting PG had to have his brother take his SATs to get into Memphis. Josh Smith is basketball stupid. Who cares how smart D-Rose is academically, he is basketball smart. Smith is not.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 11:51 PM) I'm having fun doing my runs every morning and not lifting for my upper body... but seriously. Getting up and doing 3+ mile runs 5 days out of the week is like crack. I have never been so outgoing and upbeat in my everyday life. I don't know that it is simply exercising that does it, maybe it's being outside, maybe it's jamming to music for 30 minutes while I run....but it is great. My rest days suck. Now I need to start getting more compression shorts so I don't have to wash mine every day. And socks that don't make me blister. And some anti-chafing lubricant. And probably need to start thinking about new shoes, but at least I got my last pair from a running store so they are suited for my stride style. The part that I'm not too close to, but seems completely crazy, is when these training manuals are telling me I'm supposed to wear a fanny pack on my 60+ minute runs to hold water and snacks. I just can't fathom wearing a fanny pack around. For a 60-minute run at 10 minutes per mile pace, you really don't need water/snacks, especially in this weather. As it gets hotter, it will change. But I don't think water is must for that type of run so long as make sure you are hydrated pre-run. If you are planning on doing a marathon as it looks like, you need to make sure you have strong legs. Not like super lifter legs, but running legs to prevent common running injuries that occur when people start upping mileage like shin splints, plantar fasciitis, etc.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) And if true, there is no chance in hell he will get another chance in this league without an attitude adjustment. He's an incredibly ralented player, but just an absolute moron. Sadly that point will likely get him another chance or two. Lots of team are arrogant in thinking their "system" and "culture" can change people.
  9. That was quick if true.
  10. http://deadspin.com/5983854/kentucky-star-...reaming-in-pain Nerlens Noel with possibly severe knee injury.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 06:47 PM) I'm not sure any team produced as many 2nd or 3rd round picks who contributed absolutely nothing to their team than the Bears did during his tenure. Dan Bazuin. Michael Okwo. Jarron Gilbert. Juaquin Iglesias. You didn't even get special team snaps out of these guys. They were one-and-dones in the Pros. He was an absolutely atrocious talent evaluator.
  12. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) So you say. I know there are more of you, but when the Illini play (and you guys haven't given up on your team and are paying attention), the level of b****ing about the officiating on this and other forums I have been to is unequaled. It's not really even close. Well maybe close to Alabama football fans.... Sorry the truth is making you tired. This comment is laughable.
  13. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) Sheehey has got to make open 3 pt shots for this team! As I type that, he buries one. 1 of 3 today, all on good open looks. Need 2 of 3. He doesn't shoot them that often. Not going all Illinois fan on you, but that should have been Craft's 4th foul. Yeah, cuz Illinois fans are the only ones who complain about officiating.
  14. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 09:48 AM) MLB Network Top 10 Right Now completed Third Basemen 1. Miguel Cabrera 2. Adrian Beltre 3. David Wright 4. Evan Longoria 5. Ryan Zimmerman 6. Aramis Ramirez 7. Chase Headley 8. Brett Lawrie 9. David Freese 10. Pablo Sandoval Just Missed: Pedro Alvarez, Kevin Youkilis, Alex Rodriguez, Jeff Keppinger, Todd Frazier, Manny Machado, Will Middlebrooks, Mike Moustakas While not Top 10, it's nice to see him get some "Just Missed" love. I'm very excited for some steady 3B contributions this season. HOW WAS BRENT MOREL LEFT OFF THE LIST???
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) The Cell is absolutely great now. Location is the only downside. But lots of parking. Easy public transportation. And a gorgeous park inside. It's super underrated as a park because of its location.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Life under Hahn More like life post-Williams. Bad farm system. No money to play with.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 08:56 AM) I think your math is a bit off. Five more wins get us to 8. At that point we would have to be a lock. Not sure @Iowa is too winnable though. 7-11 should get us in. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) You're missing two games in each of those, they currently have 3 wins in BTC, so 5 more would be 8 wins. YEAH YEAH YEAH. Bad math.
  18. Illinois has four wins against the AP top 14. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the only team to have accomplished that this year. Also RPI of 32. They have @Minn, Pur, @NW, PSU, @Mich, Neb, @Iowa and @OSU. Win the five easy ones, lose the three tough ones and you are at 8-10 in Conference Play with a tournament-worthy RPI. 7-11 is close, but probably a tourney team from the Big 10. 6-12 probably means a two-game run in the BTT is needed. Should be interested. No idea what to expect. Probably will lose at home to PSU and win at Michigan knowing them
  19. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) Can we stop b****ing about Griffey now? He was very good tonight. One game doesn't make up for four years of uselessness.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 07:30 PM) Havent heard his name in a while. The reality is the Bulls can find a defensive big man somewhere. The really need a guy who can stretch the floor. Ive always been partial to Jon Leuer If this were true, we wouldn't have s***ty-ass Nazr Mohammed as our back-up center.
  21. I think the good news for the Bears this off-season is that there is a ton of available OT/OGs in free agency (quality ones) and in the draft, they are in a good position to get a good OLman (Lane Johnson, Warmack if he somehow dropped, Cooper or Fluker). Would love to add Levitre and Cherilus via free agency. If you cut Hester, Davis and Spaeth, you probably can re-sign Melton too. Draft an OL in the first round and the line looks solid. OT in R.1 Cherilus-Levitre-Garza-Louis-Fluker/Johnson OG in R.1 Cherilus-Leivtre-Garza-Cooper/Warmack-Webb
  22. How on Earth was Chris Spencer making over $4 million? That's hideous. $4 million combined on worthless TEs and $7 million on a returner who could barely do that this year. That's a hilarious waste of $15 million.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Lions waived Titus Young. Too bad, he seems like a really nice guy..... Has the skill set the Bears really need...sadly too much a head case.
  24. I think this might be the most interesting battle of Spring Training. Both are young lefties who are very different in pitching style. Let's assume Danks is healthy and it's one of them for the fifth starter position. who you taking? As much as I like Quintana, I like Santiago a little more. His stuff is better and he has the higher upside.
  25. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 10:29 AM) None of the guys listed are why the Sox were ranked #1 at that time, which is my point. Wasn't our "best pitching prospect" at that time that huge pitcher that was like 7'10" tall that could barely touch 90? I forget his name because of how awesome he was. And Joe Borchard...wasn't he a can't miss 5 tool player that turned into an actual tool? The only reason anyone remembers him at all was because of that home run he hit at the cell. Rauch. He turned out to be a solid ML reliever, but injury issues derailed his very promising career. He was hitting mid-90s after the 2000 season and was actually the ranked as the top prospect in baseball by many (along with Sabathia, maybe Sheets, too). No doubt that baseball prospects are the biggest risks out there, but it is clear the Sox have been lacking in impact players for the past few years. The more top level prospects you have, the better chance that one or two of them actually turns their potential into reality.
