  1. QUOTE (bhawk99 @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 07:36 AM) Just another day and again no moves to improve this team by Rick Hahn. I guess he will just be happy to just finish ahead of the Indians, Twins and maybe the Royals. Some of Kenny's moves were questionable but at least he tried to make this team more competitive with the Tigers. Hey Rick, grow a set and do something just to let us know you are still alive. I am not sure why people think it is easy for Rick Hahn to make moves. 1) We don't have much money to play with in free agency, so he really can't acquire anyway using that method. 2) We don't have a deep minor league system to deal for a proven veteran. 3) We don't really have that many valuable assets on the ML team. We have old veterans making a lot of dough who are not that attractive for other organization and we don't really have the young talent that teams pine over.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 6, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) They got married after dating four weeks. Yeah, how long will this thing last?
  3. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 5, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) From what I read it doesn't look like he'll take an OC job...Sean Payton wanted to bring him in as his OC in 06 but he turned it down to be a head coach at NC State...Then he went to Canada. Here's a good article on him deserving an NFL HC job.. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12399910 I believe he was only an OC at NC State.
  4. The QBs that Trestman has trained is not an inspiring list.
  5. Talk about out of left field.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 01:22 PM) Correct, because if there's data out there on correlations between weight and pitching durability, I haven't seen it, but I also haven't seen anything ruling it out. This was also that little scare this season where the Sox entertained the idea of moving him to relief permanently because they were concerned with his future. That speaks volumes, too.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Word is Carimi was injured all year (never healed) but should be 100% next year......sounds like a columbo thing. This is the problem with Carimi, he is just going to be injured his entire career. I have no hope from him other than being at most a serviceable back-up tackle or maybe starting guard.
  8. That was actually a pretty positive review of our guys. Even though we are probably still ranked in the mid 20s or lower, you would not know it reading that review.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) If the Bears had beaten the Colts in the SB, I wonder if the fans would have had a different feeling toward Lovie. He has pretty much been hated for a good portion of his tenure. The Lovie firing and the Ozzie firing have lots of similarities. Even if Lovie had won the SB, it would be time to move on, just as the Sox needed to move on from Ozzie.
  10. I think the biggest question, not even asked there, is how will Chris Sale respond to 192 innings? This question concerns me most because he is the most important White Sox player for now and the next 10+ years hopefully.
  11. Jim Miller said Nick Saban and Brian Kelly are on the Emery list. Kelly would be awful. No NFL experience just lends itself to a disaster. Saban probably would want too much control, but certainly has built programs in college and has NFL experience.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 12:00 PM) And made a Super Bowl with Rex freaking Grossman as his quarterback. The only other starting quarterback in the last 15 years that was as bad as Grossman was Trent Dilfer and he played on a team with arguably the greatest defense of all time. It is nearly impossible to make a Super Bowl with a QB as bad as Grossman starting for you. Lovie will land on his feet, hopefully the Bears don't f*** up this hire but I fully expect them to. He also had the league's best defense, special teams and a very good running game. Who cares about that one year anymore? We haven't done s*** since then and that's on Lovie.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) Lovie will make a great defensive coordinator for someone. Good luck, old friend. Yep. Perfect for a DC. Just not well-rounded enough to be the head guy.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) a buddy just texted me saying Hester is retiring Considering it. He will play. Heat of the moment talk, but not for the Bears hopefully.
  15. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) @RapSheet: #Bears assistants are freaking out inside the building. Coach Lovie Smith's status is "not looking good." Decision time for #Bears. OH HELL YES!!!! I realize Lovie is a average, maybe a little above-average NFL coach, but he just make the playoffs, which is the standard in the NFL. After that, I feel like football is so fickle, anything can happen.
  16. If I am the Bears, you throw the bank at Bill Cower. There isn't a better guy without a coaching gig. You give him whatever he wants money wise. Now, the Bears won't do this because (1) they probably won't pony up and (2) Cower probably wants more control than the Bears would be willing to give, but I can dream.
  17. This Sean Jensen tweet makes me think Lovie just might be fired. Just seemed like an odd tweet if he were going to stay.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) I hopefully will be in the hospital. (My wife is due January 1st) Probably the best New Year's you could have, welcoming in a young one.
  19. maggsmaggs replied to Texsox's topic in SLaM
Most New Years I enjoy just hanging out with friends at home, but my friend got some free tickets to the House of Blues to see Third Eye Blind. Wasn't going to pass that up.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Train Williams may have just cost the Bears a playoff berth. The Bears cost themselves a playoff berth.
  21. Now we get more AP against the Pack D. Ugh.
  22. Didn't McCarthy just throw the challenge flag? What did he do or how is this situation different from Schwartz in Detroit? (This is a serious question b/c I can't remember).
  23. God I love Aaron Rodgers. I wish I could root for him on a weekly basis.
  24. Well this is what happens when you don't control your fate, it rests in the hands of others. Bears have only themselves to blame. Luckily, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense still can still put up points.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) Irritating that the Bears have had so many issues keeping both Bennett and Jeffrey on the field at the same time. They have the ability. Nice to see Cutler target other guys and Forte had a couple early screens which he did a good job on (where those have been all year is beyond me). What kills the Bears is WR depth and a TE. When all of our WRs are healthy, we have the weapons, but when Jeffrey and/or Bennett are hurt, we have Hester/Weems playing meaningful snaps. Next year, if we could sign Jared Cook or Dustin Keller as FAs and add a WR through the draft, I think that is all the added weapons we need. Then just focus on the line.
