Agreed, Falstaff! I was stunned when the camera switched back from the outfielder gathering up the ball, back to the infield area, and there is Sam, still running! A lot of guts and hustle there, and it turned out to be consequential, as he was subsequently batted in-- but can you imagine the comments (including from me!) if he had been nailed at second?!! What a game!

How did that batter not reach second base ?

A shame that some of our fair-weather friends left us early-- and they know who they are!

I think Davis was trying to apologize, but nobody was going to let him engage with Stewart at that point, so he never had a chance to explain himself. I guess I can't blame Stewart for being upset regardless, having come that close to getting his block knocked off. Just very unfortunate. If there was a serious blister issue, Davis should have spoken up and maybe exited voluntarily before something like this could happen.

Hahahaha! Well, now that the dust has settled a little, I have to say, I'm really proud of the way this team battled back today, in the face of a complete collapse of the pitching. I feel awful for Martin, Fedde, and especially McDougal. Clunkers are going to happen to the best of them, and the promise of tomorrow awaits!

Manager Francona just called Davis Martin's actions "blatant." Really???

2Deep, the last couple of times that the Sox began to "pile on" a ton of runs in a game, at least a couple of people among those I was with quipped, "Hey boys, let's not use 'em all up at once! Save some for tomorrow!" And if I recall correctly, the next outing would be one of those where they couldn't seem to buy a run. Do you think that yesterday, for instance, after establishing what appeared to be a comfortable lead, the guys subconsciously took their foot off the pedal, offensively, for fear that they'd come up dry today? It'd be crazy to do so on purpose, of course, but I've wondered if there could be a deep psychological element that might allow that to happen. Okay you guys, go ahead and make fun of me-- I can take it!🙂

According to my weather guy, Max Velocity, it looks like Mother Nature may be barking at us a little bit as the week moves forward. Hopefully she'll relent sufficiently so that the games will be played as scheduled!

Same here, Falstaff. And Brooke, Dan and Connor too. Nobody's perfect, but I think the CHSN team does a great job bringing the games to us. They obviously prepare well, and they try to keep it fun. I look at sports like I look at music and playing an instrument--- if you're not having fun doing it, you probably shouldn't be doing it. At times the "total access" stuff, and the inside-the-dugout hijinx, can be a bit much, but I think it's done in the right spirit. I'd be fine with a little less "access" and a little more "just the facts, ma'am." But overall, I honestly think this broadcast team is primo.

Ray, your perspective most certainly DOES have a place here, every bit as much as anyone else's. I always try to keep Dave Mason's lyric in mind: "There ain't no good guy. There ain't no bad guy. There's only you and me, and we just disagree." And I've also benefited greatly from the meme that I often see here... "F**k you, and see ya tomorrow." It's taught me that it's possible to express opposing views, with great conviction, occasionally butting heads with others and getting at each other's throats, and still have an unwritten understanding that it's not personal, even when it's sometimes loud and coarse.

I'm with you on this one, Bon. Seems like Will is far too sharp to have done something like this accidentally. (Disclaimer: I have zero qualifications to render this opinion. I'm just a guy sitting at his laptop, in the kitchenette of his efficiency apartment, having a cup of Casey's "Darn Good" coffee, and thankful for this brand new day.)

Agreed, Hank, but I'm a little concerned that the big 3 are kind of "hunting" homers too much, and I'd much rather see them "keep the line moving" with a nice succession of singles and gap shots.
