  1. webb got enough of matthews on his first snap to give Jay time to make that throw. Come on Jay, we need you tonight! No more INTS
  2. Is Gar/Pax really going to forgo a chance of getting Melo for the sake of keeping Noah? I just don't understand that.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) New Jersey's the only team that he's willing to re-sign with if traded. He probably wouldn't re-sign with Chicago if the Bulls give up Noah for him. So, they'd lose Noah, and then Anthony after 2010-11. I have a hard time believing that he wouldn't re-sign here.
  4. Just saw Bryant's RET TD. Josh Bullocks made an absolute piss-poor attempt at a tackle that led to that TD. Why is he even on the roster? God are we thin at Safety.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) I'm thinking he didn't play because Martz wanted more speed to run the slants and post routes to stop Dallas from blitzing. I think Aromashadou is still faster than Bennett. But Bennett is probably a more competent blocker and has the best hands of any receiver on our team. So maybe the combination of those two things led him to taking DA's snaps.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) That's a strategy that ought to open up the running game though. In theory, yes. What feels encouraging is that it seems like we have a guy ("Martz") who will exploit whatever defenses want to expose. And we have a guy in Cutler who can make teams pay for getting over aggressive. I am legitimately worried that this OL might get Cutler hurt and I think we still need more consistent play from our WR core, but I am cannot help but be optimistic. From all indications, the marriage of Cutler and Martz could be a great one. Then if/when the front office can build a competent offensive line this offense could get scary.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:33 AM) I don't see it. Hester turned something into a nice play. But he also dropped what a good receiver would make as a TD catch (long pass down the sideline on a perfectly thrown ball by Cutler). Was it an easy catch, no, but catchable, absolutely. On top of that on the following play Martz called for a screen where Hester was in a position to block. Hester puts on a block and it might very well be a touchdown and most defnitely was a first down. Instead Hester completely whiffed on the block. He made some catches, but I still think he's best utilized as a slot receiver. Oh and don't get me started on what a terrible return-man Devin has become. Despite that catch, Hester seems like he is still out of place. I think Devin could be an elite slot receiver, but I want my starting WR to do more: block in the run game, make plays in coverage, and have reliable hands. Still, for 2 plays on Sunday Devin did great things.
  8. Having Williams leave and the OL get better is such a HUGE f***ing indictment on Angelo. This team still needs more talent and OL and in the secondary. Lost Major Wright to a hammy today too. Steltz time is never a good time.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) I don't think it's possible to play better than Cutler did today. Big credit to Martz for adjusting to the first two possessions. I think you can see some of the mechanical things that Martz has fixed with Cutler as well. I only saw Jay throw one fade-a-way. He did a lot better job of evading the blitz within the pocket and firing the ball from a good base. I am ecstatic with the play from Cutler today. He played like an elite QB today.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Its just a numbers game at that point. With a 2 possession lead you have 6 touches of the ball at 40 seconds a touch. If you can make them burn time outs or wear down the clock you are most likely going to use 1:20 of clock. Now the Cowboys are in a bad position, 1 time out and the bears have the ball. bears need to recover this onside kick first.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) The issue is that we can't run the ball. There is no hope of running the clock out. What you're doing is saying we are willing to trade 2 minutes coming off the clock for possession of the ball. I'd rather use safe passes and at least have some hope of making a first down. The reward by far outweighs the small risk in my opinion, considering the odds of making a first down on the ground are about 10 %. With this o-line, you risk having Jay get stripped or pressured and throwing a pick. I don't care if we had to punt, it was the right call.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) I have no issues with trying to run the clock out with a 2 possession lead. That was the absolute right call. Bears took up about 2 minutes on those 3 runs and the Cowboys now have 2 minutes to score 10 pts. Going to take a lot things going the right way to get them.
  13. How come Roy Williams didn't do his first down signal after he fumbled the ball?
  14. Is this line better without Chris Williams? Kevin Shaffer looks good at RT.
  15. Sans that amazing TD catch. Hester has been Hester.
  16. Tommie Harris hasn't seen the field much lately. Toeaina and Adams looking good plugging up the middle.
