  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) Ladd was a great player, but I'm very happy we got to keep sharp, which I was not expecting. Ladd = a great player? I have a little bit of trouble signing on with that one. I enjoyed watching Ladd play because he seemed to bring some intensity to the ice on a pretty consistent basis. But I think you can find a number of guys who can provide what Ladd provided. Was Ladd Valuable? Yes. Physical? Mostly. Interchangable? In my opinion, yes. I think the team will ultimately miss Byfuglien the most, only because he seemed to have a second-gear come playoff time. Buff was somewhat forgettable during the regular season, but he brought something special come playoff time. Letting Niemi go is somewhat risky, because I think he flashed the potential to be a great goalie. Like top 5-10 in the league good. He outplayed the other team's goalie in all but a few games during our cup run. I will account great Defense for some of that, but an equal share was Niemi on his own. That being said, this is a Bowman run team and Bowman run teams don't invest in goalies the way other teams do. That is why we matched Hjalmersson and let Niemi walk. Good defense makes good goalies, not the other way around.
  2. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I wonder if this could be another situation as last year. Young unproven goalie (Crawford which Niemi did) takes over mid-season for struggling veteran (Turco, what Huet did) and helps lead us all the way all over again. I've read Turco with his puck movement ability (the best goalie in the NHL at that) is almost gonna be teams impossible to fore check on Hawks defenseman and will help stretch long passes to the very fast Hawks forwards (Stalberg, Skille, Kane, Sharp, etc..) on odd man rushes. I might have said this about Niemi before the beginning of last year (perhaps not because I hated Huet and would have started Niemi over him earlier in the season) but I don't think Corey Crawford has enough talent to win a stanley cup. Crawford doesn't play out of the butterfly (at least that is what I remember) and I don't think a goalie can play the stand-up style in today's NHL. The players are too talented, too fast, and have too much skill to rely solely on positioning.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) I have a feeling this is just the start of 2 weeks of ridiculousness It wouldn't surprise me. . . LeBron really stole his douche-thunder this offseason.
  4. Brett Favre retiring . . . again? Best thing that has happened to the Bears since acquiring Jay Cutler.
  5. MLB network dude just said the Sox and Nats are still talking Dunn. Nats want Jackson + Prospects.
  6. http://twitter.com/HuskyCaucasian/mlb Athomeboy does it again. . . is there anyone else worth adding to this follow list?
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) There seems to be a lot of f***ing collusion going on in the NBA right now. lets just have the eastern all-stars play the western all-stars and get it over with. There are going to be so many teams that just have absolutely no chance to compete (not that this doesn't happen anyways). This whole Free Agent thing has left a horrible taste in my mouth, it all seems a lot less like sports and a whole lot more like some type of television show. I dont know.
  8. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) I strongly disagree with you on that one. McGrady was one of my favorite players back in the days, I catch over half of the magic/rockets games back in the days. People often mistaken him as a me first type of guy because he takes a high volume of shots. But when playing with Yao Ming, he often feeds the ball to the post to set up Yao, and takes his shots when Yao is not available. You are talking about a swingman who was one of the best passers in the league at his position, and averages 5-6 assists a game in his career. He is definitely not a shoot first type of guy like Jamal Crawford, Allen Iverson, or even Kobe. Character-wise, he is actually a pretty mild manner guy. Rarely does he go into public and criticize anyone or demand anything of any sort. And look at his effort and donations to the Dafur Charities, switching his number from 1 to 3 just to promote his humanitarian efforts, he is actually a pretty unselfish guy to say the least. Before the end of last season, he actually talked about willing to take less money to play in New York if the Knicks were able to sign Lebron and Bosh. Also, at this point of his career, the last thing he cares about is his individual glory. He is most likely looking to be part of a winning team in which he will finally make it out of the first round. All that said, signing T-Mac will be a risk, but it' a risk that's worth taking as he can still be a good passer, a threat to score and shoot from long range, even in limited minutes. It is only a risk if he signs for multiple years and eats up a big amount of cap space. If he was willing to sign for 2 years and 7-8 mil . . . then the risk is minimal. Gar/Pax has essentially locked himself into a 3 year period with this team (Brewer, Watson, Korver all signed for 3 years). If T-Mac is brutal then we're not REALLY strapped for cap space any worse than we already are. I'd be on board. Who knows, maybe the guy fully recovers and has a few years left in the tank as a spot starter/reserve.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) The Bulls can actually run Rose plays when Watson is in the lineup. Watson has good handles and a nice jumpshot. I also think Watson could run the team if Rose misses some time due to injury. I am happy with both moves.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) Looks like the Bulls still have about 4.4 million remaining under the cap. What free agent C's are out there? Shaq? Kwame Brown? Kurt Thomas?
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:24 AM) And another note that I haven't seen, Rudy Fernandez would accept a trade to only 5 teams, and the Bulls would be 1 of those teams. The others are NY, NJ, BOS, and MIA. This is per Frank Isola who covers the Knicks. That would be pretty sweet, but what could we give the Blazers in return? Maybe they will feel guilty about the Aldridge for Thomas deal and cut a deal.
  12. AJ is AJ. You have to take the good with the bad, and Since 05, Good > > > Bad. I for one hope that AJ sticks around for another year, maybe splitting time between C/1B and DH.
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Just so you guys know if you don't, the Bears drafted Harvey Unga in the supplemental draft this afternoon.. Definitely worth a 7th round pick. Bears have struggled in short yardage for a while now. . . Unga might be able to help that.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) The Bulls are obviously going all out to build around Rose and it shows. They couldn't get him a Batman for him to play Robin, so they are gonna try and make him the Batman in the foreseeable future. No Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Melo . . . I am ok with that. Rose is our best hope, go all in.
  15. According to CQ. . . Hawkaroo and Stony are a solid 15th in the league.
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) Thats a bit of an overstatement, he isnt perfect by any means but id imagine he has done more good than bad in the world. are you just saying nice things about him because he threatened to "cut your nuts off?"
  17. can someone explain this to me? Why is Soria in the game?
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) I think he was talking about mediocre white players, not the good ones. So he wants more mediocre black players? That makes sense. Call MJ maybe we can trade for Tyrus Thomas and his horrible contract.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) Pretty much. I don't mean to sound racist. But this isn't 1972. That does sound racist. You wouldn't take Dirk on your team?
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) OMG, and I thought last night was bad. Maybe the three of them will bump knees while they butt f*** each other the next couple of months and be out for the year. Unbelievable. Dellonte West had sex with LeBron's mom. Awesome.
  21. The Three Nozzles all have opt out clauses for 2013-2014. God I hope we don't go through this again in 2013.
  22. Michael Bay and Chris Bosh . . . two overrated douchebags who don't (or won't) deserve the success they receive. Two Scoops of FAIL.
