1) Anaheim had a payroll of 122 million dollars. 2) JR told us that if the Sox were doing well and fans started coming out, they would improve the team. Th Sox and fans held up their end of the bargain, so the JR allowed KW to add Garcia, and even approved of trades that would've possibly brought Larry Walker or Carlos Delgado. I expect the Sox to come in with a larger payroll for 2005. Didn't Scott Schoeneweis have one of the best quality starts to starts ratio in the entire MLB before he got hurt and the Sox put him on the DL? Didn't Buehrle have the second best road ERA in the AL? How much did the Sox offense decline after Frank and Maggs went down? And if you're going to tell me that one less run per game or whatever the average was doesn't make much of a difference, you're wrong. The Sox had one of the best one run game record when both Maggs and Frank were healthy (11-1.) The Sox finished the season being 28-18, or .500 in one run games after Maggs and Frank went on the DL. Sorry butter, you're wrong, and I'm somewhat dissapointed that you sidesteped my two (long) posts where I address everything that you were whining about.

KW does not determine what the budget will be. Did you act like a prick (or as you call it "true sox fan") from 1995-1999 when the Sox were in the top 3 in the MLB in payroll (1996-1997) but still had a hard time reaching .500, let alone the playoffs?

What about a troll like yourself? How to plan to excite yourself if you don't have anyone piss off?
-
Why are you always quoting people out of context? I said a guy LIKE Colon. I guess Mr. Know it all doesn't remember how Anaheim (and others) lost their first round draft picks because they were signing guys before the arbitration deadline. It makes it alot easier for a team to decided whether they should offer a free agent arbitration AFTER he signs with another team. But I bet you already knew that. :rolly
-
Only because you would overpay for some fatass free agent ,like Colon, before the winter meetings losing your first round draft picks.
-
And since we kept these prospects, he's b****ing about how they haven't contributed to the MLB level like Joe Maurer, Mark Prior or Mark Teixiera. :rolly
-
KW Tried to get Carlos Delgado and Larry Walker but neither would waive their no-trade clauses. I bet that's his fault too. So he did try to replace their bats with Everett and Delgado or Walker. Just accept the facts and shut the f*** up already.
-
You're (Notice the spelling) the one taking his quotes out of context. Why do you have to be an ass and a troll about it?
-
He was sent by the devil. You can't destroy him. :headshake
-
Well we finished without Maggs and Frank, but that's not a factor is it?
-
Remember, you said it's not how you start, it's how you finished. Buehrle Garcia Contreras Garland Grilli

Yes, yes, the next word is "read." Awwww, you almost read the entire sentence. Just like Meatloaf sang "Two out of three ain't bad!"

In 2003, here was our expected starting rotation with 2002 Stats: Buehrle: 19-12 Colon: 20-8 Garland: 12-12 Wright: 14-12 Loaiza: 9-10 The Sox were trying to get Kenny Rogers, but JR wouldn't pony the extra $1 million to get him, so he went to Minnesota and won 13 games. Is it KW's fault that JR wouldn't pony up another $1 million for a Scott Boras client? Just imagine if our 2003 rotation was: Buehrle Colon Loaiza Rogers Garland Too bad Manuel would be pulling them all after the sixth or as soon as their pitch count reached 90. Let's blame KW for that too!

You're doing a fine job, the people love you here.

Kind of the like the way how Gene Honda Civic asked you how many players drafted since June 2001 have helped out their teams, and you posted the names of some of the guys drafted in the first round of the 2001 draft, including guys that were drafted BEFORE the Sox had a chance to draft. :rolly
-
I"m not the one who can't read. Gene Honda Civic asked you "How many players drafted since then (SINCE JUNE OF 2001) have help out their team?" You posted 7/44, 3 of which were drafted ahead of the Sox, Wright was just called up this year to help the Mets, and Burke had a line of .059 /.200 /.059. Crosby was the Rookie of the year, but he had the same BA as Crede, and struck out 141 times, so the number would be closer to 2 maybe 3 out of 44. So not only do you suck at spelling, reading, and public relations, you also seem to have a difficult time with math. I can't believe you're holding 3 guys who were drafted before the Sox against KW. :rolly :dips***

Gene Honda Civic asked: "How many players drafted since then (June 2001)have "helped their team"??? And apparently Anthraxfan believes only 44 players were drafted since June of 2001. Interesting. :dips***

LOL!!! I think I just might by that for my dad!

Did you bother to read my post? Or was it too long for you? Manuel was given a contract extension by REINSDORF after the 2000 season. How could you not bring back the guy who turned a losing team into a division winner? KW wanted to hire Cito, not Guillen. KW was ready to make an offer, but Reinsdorf called for a second interview with Ozzie (I think it was at an Airport,) then KW and Reinsdorf hired the cheaper, former-Sox, option. You can blame Manuel for being a statue and pulling his starting pitchers too early, Konerko's horrible year, and/or Buehrle bad first half (He was 2-10 at one point,) for 2003. Was it KW's fault for the collapse in the HHH dome in late September? Carl Everett was the ONLY one hitting in that series. He had a bloop single in the first inning that scored two runs, and he hit a homer off of LaTroy Hawkins (who dominated the Sox) in the 8th inning. What do you think would've happened to 2004 Sox if Maggs and Frank didn't miss a combined 198 games?
-
sigh..... I said RJ can carry a team DURING a World Series. So he couldn't have carried them this year because they weren't there. Duh. :headshake
-
KW won me over with the way he transformed the 2002 team in to the second half team of 2003. He wasn't trying to win a division, he was trying to win a WS. Are those expectations high enough for you? KW realizes that this franchise hasn't won a championship since 1917. Manuel's bad managing to go along with All-Star Konerko's year long slump, and All-Star Buehrle's first half slump in 2003, and injuries to our two best hitters in 2004 killed these past two seasons, not KW. Supposed everyone on next year's roster goes down to some kind of injury any misses an extended period of time or perhaps Ozzie starts pulling his starting pitchers after the 5th inning. The Sox don't win the division, but thy still remain competitive. Are you still going to fault KW? I don't get why KW is the scapegoat. We still haven't won a World Series under Reinsdrof, and he has owned the team for 24 years now. Or would you be more satisfied with a division title in the weakest division?
-
Thanks for the kind words. Poorme, do you a point to your post? Should we get rid of Ozzie because he only averages 83 wins a year? The manager is responsible for the using talent he is given, and the players are responsible for playing at their best. Quit blaming KW.

Neagle gets caught with his pants down

Link Neagle arrested for solicitation of prostitution By Brian D. Crecente and Hector Gutierrez, Rocky Mountain News December 3, 2004 Oft-injured Colorado Rockies pitcher Denny Neagle was arrested early Friday after police say he paid a prostitute $40 for oral sex on Colfax Avenue. Neagle told Lakewood police that he was "being stupid," according to a police report. Police started following Neagle about 1:30 a.m. Friday, after spotting him speeding across West Colfax Avenue on Ames Street near the Denver city line in a white Cadilliac Escalade. An officer followed the vehicle to West 14th Avenue where the officer pulled Neagle over. According to the report, Neagle's eyes were watery and bloodshot, and he smelled of alcohol. When Neagle reached for his wallet, the officer noticed that Neagle's pants belt was undone. When asked why his pants were undone, Neagle told the officer he was just getting comfortable. But the woman who was in the car with Neagle, Jill Russell, 40, told police that she had performed oral sex on Neagle for $40. Neagle then admitted that he was in the area looking for sex, according to the police report. Police ticketed Neagle for solicitation of prostitution, seized his $40 as evidence and explained his upcoming court date, to which Neagle responded: "OK." Neagle and his Chicago-based agent, Barry Meister, were unavailable for comment Friday. Rockies officials said they planned to release a statement later tonight. This isn't Neagle's first run-in with the law. In October 2003, Neagle was cited for drunken driving after his Hummer hit another vehicle near West Alameda Avenue and South Kipling Street. He later pleaded guilty to driving while impaired. I'm sure this will blow over that whole steroids thingy.
