  1. After going through his pathetic grammar skills, I figured it out. He should've have said "instead of trying to sign Colon to an extension when we traded for him." or "instead of trying to re-sign Colon when we traded for him." or "instead of trying to sign Colon to a longer deal when we traded for him." Either way, I would rather have Garcia over Colon.
  2. Seriously; would you rather have Colon for 2004-2007 at $51 million, or Garcia for 2005-2007 at $27 million? I realize that had we re-signed Colon, we wouldn't have had to give up Reed and Olivo to get a quality starting pitcher. Reinsdorf isn't big on the idea of giving out huge contracts to pitchers (Thank Ron Schueler for his Jaime Navarro signing for that,) and there were some insiders saying how Colon didn't like pitching in Chicago, so there's no guarantee that he would've signed with the Sox before the 2003 season. Go ahead and bash whomever you want in April (if you are still allowed to post) and I'll just keep saying "It's not how you start off, it's how you finish." I guess that the only way to get a point across with a poster like yourself.
  3. WHEN DID YOU WANT US TO SIGN HIM? I asked you if instead of getting him for the 2003 season would you rather have us sit on our hands for 2003 and try to sign him for 2004. What's your choice? I'll remember this come April when you're b****ing about how one of KW acquisitions isn't doing well, if you're not banned by then or the ignore feature is enabled.
  4. What about the first half? I'm sure if you were around for the first half, you'd be ripping on KW for giving Colon so much money. :rolly
  5. Rowand suffered a serious dirt bike accident and he simply wasn't getting the job done in CF as evident by the Sox calling up Harris and Borchard to play center. How exactly did you expect us to sign Colon when he wasn't a free agent before the 2003 season? Or did you want us to wait until after the 2003 season to get a quality pitcher and not even bother trying to be competitive for 2003? We gave up Liefer, Biddle, and Osuna or Colon and Jorge Nunez. The Sox offered Colon the largest pitching deal in the team's history (3 years $36-39 million,) but he turned it down and signed for more with the Angels ( 4 years $51 million.) Is that KW's fault?
  6. Who f***ing gives a s*** about some trade idea you pulled out of your ass? Is there any point to your post, or are you just trying to get off by trolling?
  7. You said you could be a better GM than Kenny, yet you don't even know who the closer of the Texas Rangers is.
  8. I know. I'm praying that one day I don't have to work with a guy who has an ego the size of Anthrax's. This is a guy who rips on KW for the Berry/Barry deal, yet he thought Frankie Francisco was the closer for the Texas Rangers, not Francisco Cordero. :rolly
  9. I would like for the Illini to be ranked #1, but I'm not going to start fretting so much that I'll root for the other Big Ten teams. Thankfully College Basketball is NOT like College Football because a tournament decides the national championship game. Now if the NCAA decided to use a BCS system to determine whom should play in the championship game, then I would root for every other Big Ten team in their games because I would like the Big Ten to appear to be the toughest division in the country. Sorry. I just don't give a s*** about Purdue unless they are playing the Illini. EDIT: I missed the Twins reference. I rooted against the Twins the past three seasons. People know how weak the AL Central just by noticing that only two teams had winning records. The Twins winning anything in the playoffs does NOTHING for a Sox fan. I root for teams, not divisions.
  10. Yeah I know. I was just trying to take all of the blame off of Kenny.
  11. What does it say about the Purdue fanbase when a Purdue fan is whining about an Illini fan not rooting for the Big Ten? Why do I have a feeling that you wouldn't be making a big fuss out of this if your name was "Michiganstate129?" I just don't care what the other teams in the Big Ten do, and I don't like Purdue because of all my mom's relatives who live in Crown Point can be obnoxious Purdue and Cubs fans.
  12. They also spend more money on getting better scouts. Who's in charge of spending money for the Sox? The Twins also had some HORRIBLE records for nearly a decade, and they don't re-sign their free agents because of a horrible owner.
  13. ....and what do any of those prospects we gave up have to show? Frankie Francisco can show you his mugshot, but that's about it. He kinda looks like Bettlejuice from the Howard Stern show.
  14. Yeah, he only got David Wells, Bartolo Colon, the 2002 Rolaids relief man of the year, Shingo, and Damaso Marte in previous offseasons. Granted Botch and Wells didn't work out, but the other guys were far from being "1/2 ass pitchers." :rolly :rolly :rolly When are you going to learn that "your" in supposed to be "you're?" Was 3rd grade English that hard for you?
  15. More speculation from Fox Sports http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/team?categoryId=71590 Be sure to click on Anderson's name. :dips***
  16. Red Sox re-signed catcher Doug Mirabelli to a two-year, $3 million contract. per rotoworld Gary Bennett has signed with the Nationals. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=1934444
  17. I go to Illinois, and I don't give a s*** about what the other teams are doing against the ACC. I root for teams, not divisions.
  18. <-----------------Does anyone else think he looks like Dr. Light from the Mega Man games?
  19. When Rick Hahn was on ESPN 1000's "Hot Stove Program," he talked about that 3 year board, and I remember him saying McCarthy is part of it. He may have also said Anderson was part of it (I can't remember exactly,) but he also said the only player that KW traded that was on that board was Olivo.
  20. You can't put too much faith in the system to determine quality starts because it doesn't account for WHIP. Theoretically, a pitcher can walk the bases loaded for 6 innings, and if he gives up less than 4 runs, it's a quality start. Suppose an error is made with 2 outs. The pitchers then proceeds to give up 18 consecutive hits (Manuel is the manager.) No earned runs are charged to the pitcher, and assuming the pitcher has gone 6 innings, it's a quality start. Don't forget that Vazquez was an All-Star this Year whereas Buehrle wasn't. :rolly :rolly :rolly
  21. Thank you. I would also like to find out how Jeckle knows that payroll isn't going up by a "single cent" even after the Giants stole Vizquel from us. I recall seeing articles in the Cubune mentioning a possible payroll of $70 million+, but I don't know how much truth is involved with those articles.
  22. So how exactly are we going to improve our offense and get a solid pitcher if you know for a fact that we aren't going to raise payroll by a single cent?
