Randy's career stats against every team. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/4288...r&type=Pitching

Correction: We weren't willing to pay Maggs that amount for five years It's not like we're trading for RJ to become a better team for the next 3 years. It's to win big this year. And how much more of a problem is our bullpen if we have a guy like Randy Johnson who pitched as many innings as Mark Buehrle? If we get another guy who can go 8 strong, it would really help our bullpen.
-
How so? This will be his 6th year in the majors.
-
Solution to 14: up, right, up, left, down, right, down, right, left, up, right, down, left, up left. That'll get you to the top.
-
Well how about this? Trade Konerko for Johnson, and then sign Paulie when he is a FA.
-
you enter it before youstart playing It's at the menu screen
-
I figured it out. mertin is the password for 16
-
You say Konerko has a couple good years in front of him, but he is only signed for one year. So what difference does that extra year make if he's not even going to be paying for us in 2006 and beyond? Would you rather have RJ for one year, or Konerko for one year?
-
How the hell did you get past the first part?
-
Yeah. I can't even get past the bottom part.

People here are actually expecting Reinsdorf to sign a pitcher better than Garland and Contreras which would consequently bump down their orders in the rotation. I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox sign Odalis Perez, but then we would have 5 pitchers signed to long term deals (Buehrle, Garcia, Perez, Contreras, Marte.) That's very un-Reinsdorf like.

That deffered money becomes guaranteed. I'm almost 100% positive on that and I think it is due to the CBA. I could see KW to try and get the D'backs to pay at least half of that ($3 million) if he were to trade for RJ. IMO, the Diamondbacks have to move Randy Johnson because of finances, not to build for the future. They are $300 million in debt, and need to cut corners at all costs. Arizona got burned with the prospects the recieved in the Curt Schilling trade, so I don't think we would be giving up any top prospect in this deal. What other teams can make appealing offers to the D'Backs for RJ? The Yankees have no farm system, and a lot of their players are signed to long-term big $$$ deals. About RJ waiving his no-trade clause. Chances are is that Sexson is not going to sign with the D'Backs. Why would Randy want to play with a bunch of kids again? He was upset last year with the way he didn't get run support or how the bullpen would blow his leads. If the D'Backs ownership came up to him and said "Randy, the only reasonable trade offer we have recieved for your services is from Chicago. It's all a matter of you waiving your no-trade clause, otherwise you're going to finish up the season here in Arizona." How do you think Randy would react to that?
-
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yeah that. I'm glad you too are thinking about the marketability of having Johnson on this team. I didn't think of the amount of national attention we would get for having one of the greatest left-handers of all time on our team.

He had surgery to repair whatever injuries he had and came back in a very stong form last year did he not? If you're concerned about guys who had injuries whithin recent years, I would like to know if you want Everett, Vizquel (failed a physical last year,) and Thomas on the team next year. This negative chicken-little attitude is getting old, especially for a franchise that hasn't won a World Series in 87 years. We haven't made the playoffs with Garland and Konerko for the past 4 years, and if we didn't make the playoffs in 2005, who's to say that it's RJ's fault we didn't get there? Jeckle is saying Garland is guaranteed to win you 12 games, yet RJ will win 15 max. :rolly Unless one of you has a time machine to prove otherwise, I'm not convinced that a Sox team with RJ won't make the playoffs, and RJ will only win a max of 15 games.
-
I've already posted the number of win each pitcher can potentially win. If Grilli or Diaz could win just 4-6 games, and Johnson could win 20-22, a free agent pitcher would have to win 13-14 games just to match that total. I'm not convinced that this organization will give a FA pitcher a Multiyear deal. I would like to see Odalis Perez play for the Sox, but he's not going to sign a one year deal.
-
Garland will be a FA after 2005 correct?
-
Randy Johnson will put asses in the seats. A rotation for a short series that contains Johnson, Garcia, and Buehrle is NASTY! The Sox haven't signed a big name FA since 1996. What makes you think JR will give out yet another multi-year deal to a free agent pitcher?
-
I can't believe some of you would still be crying about the fifth starter if we got RJ. Here's the potential of two staffs: Johnson (20-22 Wins) Buehrle (18-20 Wins) Garcia (16-18 Wins) Contreras (12-15 Wins) Your momma/Grilli/Diaz (4-6 Wins) 70-81 wins Buehrle (18-20 Wins) Garcia (16-18 Wins) FA, no guarantee of signing anyone notable (unknown) Contreras (12-15 Wins) Garland (11-14 Wins) 57-67 So unless we sign a FA pitcher who'll win 13-14 games for the Sox in 2005, I really don't see why people should b**** about the 5th starter's spot if we get RJ. I also find it hard to believe that KW would make this trade without getting some compensation from Arizona.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Hawk Harrelson to Soxtalk!!!!

DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT!DO IT! Johnson-Garcia-Buehrle is probably the best 1-3 punch in the AL if one of the big 3 out in Oakland gets traded.
-
God I hope this is just a joke from a stoner. :sleep The fact that the Sox are supposedly "aggressively" going for a chump who was released mid-season by the Rockies is a warning signal for bulls***.

Rotoworld's predictions on AL rosters for 2005!

So why would the Giants trade him? -
Yeah, but can we afford that? You have us giving out $6 million for the next two years......ah f*** it! Just let this die. And as for not being sure about Freddy re-signing with the Sox, he's almost brothers with Ozzie. I knew for sure he was going to sign an extension, but I didn't realize he was only going to resign for an average of $9 million per year.
